It would be very classy if the Horns did something for Reggie Garrett's family at the next game. I'm figuring they will.

So whatever happened to ESPN's USC worship? Have they discovered their heroes have feet of clay and a desire to bolt for more money? So disillusioned...

This is why the President called Mack Brown today - he met the 'Horns & Colt before the Austin debate during the campaign.

Denver, Colo. January 4, 2010 – Colorado alumni from The University of Texas and the University of Alabama won’t just be rooting for their respective teams during the 2009 BCS National Championship Game on Jan. 7, they’ll also help tackle hunger in a head-to-head battle to collect non-perishable food and cash donations to benefit Food Bank of the Rockies.

Burnt Orange Nation 'Bama complacency - complete with Herbie snap

Props to Kirk  Herbstreit (for once). On the ESPN BCS selection show, debating the national title game and the potential for 'Bama complacency , Lou Holtz mindlessly offered, "Nick Saban will get his team ready." To which Herbie replied, "Like he did for Utah last year?"

Seriously, though - given the mighty 'Bama collapse against Utah last year - I can't wait for the media onslaught.  They don't have Tebow to worship, so they'll have to fixate on somebody.  I hope they spend the next month telling 'Bama how great they are and all they have to do is walk on the field and it's over.

I watched this play through my fingers, nearly barfed, and then ordered a tequila shot. Vince's TD for the national title may be the #1 play in 'Horns history for me, but this is a close second.

Burnt Orange Nation Vince Young STILL Owns Matt Leinart

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=291129010

Vince Young outdueled Matt Leinart again with yet another spectacular winning drive. He hit a leaping Kenny Britt for a 10-yard touchdown as time expired, and the Tennessee Titans rallied to beat the Arizona Cardinals 20-17 Sunday for their fifth straight victory.

...Just as Young had the ball last in that memorable Rose Bowl game for Texas over Southern California, he won this one in style. Arizona receiver Steve Breaston, who lost to Young while at Michigan, walked over to Leinart on the sideline early in the drive and called it deja vu.

Burnt Orange Nation President-Elect Obama repeats call for a playoff

and says Texas should be in it.  It's the very last question of a long interview, so scroll to the end if you use the links.

HARWOOD: Last question. Florida plays Oklahoma tomorrow in the, what's widely regarded as the national championship game. You've talked about the need for a college football playoff. Do you think Utah, which finished undefeated by defeating Alabama, has a good a claim as either of those schools to be the national champion?

President-elect OBAMA: I think Utah has a pretty good claim. They're undefeated. And Florida and Oklahoma both are well...(unintelligible). I think USC, which had a great Rose Bowl, beat Penn State pretty badly. They've got a pretty good claim to being number one. Florida and Oklahoma, I think, both have a claim. Texas, at this point, has got to feel like, `Well, we did OK, too.' I think--I think a football playoff system makes sense. I've spoken about this quite a bit, and I think if you look at knowledgeable sports fans, they agree with me.

Burnt Orange Nation Pat Forde: Colt has my vote for Heisman

http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/chatESPN?event_id=23920

"...best QB I've seen this year is Colt McCoy, who so far has my Heisman vote.

...Colt McCoy does more for Texas than Bradford does for OU. He's Texas' leading rusher and has had a brilliant year throwing the ball as well."

and this was fun, too:

Larry (Glendale, CA): Worst play-call...Urban Meyer's play-call on 4th and 1 at the MISSISSIPPI 32 with 01:22 to go in the 4th Quarter this season or Pete Carroll's play-call on 4th and 2 at the TEXAS 45 with 02:13 to go in 4th Quarter of the 2006 Rose Bowl?

SportsNation Pat Forde: (2:11 PM ET ) Larry: Well, Meyer is 60 minutes away from surviving his bad call. Carroll has to live with his the rest of his life. I'd go with Carroll's.

ROFL.

Burnt Orange Nation NBC News Longhorn shout-out

Lawmakers Throw Penalty Flag At BCS

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/12/02/1696506.aspx

"When President-elect Obama proposed last month that the BCS college ranking system should be replaced with a less byzantine playoff route to the championship bowl game, a lot of football fans in ruby-red states like Texas and Idaho started seeing change they could believe in.

Lovers of the University of Texas Longhorns were outraged to learn over the weekend that their team, despite an identical 11-1 record with top-rated Oklahoma -- and a win OVER the Sooners to boot -- was ranked below them in the BCS list, giving Oklahoma a ticket to the Big 12 Championship and a likely shot at the national title game."

So a bipartisan group of  members of Congress are asking the President's help to revive a bill that would have DOJ investigate the BCS system for anti-trust violations. Can't hurt, might help.
