I'm curious who most people would like to see as a head coach. I made Doeren and Hazell both a selection because I think they are still candidates once their season is over. I didn't even include Mangino because that's ludicrous. If you really would like Tressel, Dungy or Gruden go ahead and select other. Personally I'd be happy with any of these: Hazell, Jones, Kingsbury or someone that seems promising from the NFL.

Big Ten Tourney Seeding / Schedule

The wikipedia page is a good source for the big ten tourney schedule. Looks like #1 and #4 seeds are locked. If I'm seeing things correctly, Michigan is a near lock as the #2 seed. All they have to do is win @PSU. OSU can only tie UM at best and that's if they win @MSU. UM holds the tiebreaker.

So what that means for us is if we beat the Hoosiers we are the #5 seed and play Wiscy (after beating Neb). If we beat them we'd play MSU in the semi game.

If we lose to the Hoosiers we would be the #6 seed and play OSU (after beating Neb). If we beat them we'd play Michigan in the semi game.

Penn St. and Nebraska should both lose the last game tying for last place. Their tiebreaker is determined by who wins the IU/Purdue game since they split and each one's best win would be IU or Purdue. Either way it works out that we would definitely play Nebraska. I like this.

Personally I would rather have the #6 seed route but that means losing to IU. This would be the only benefit to losing but I absolutely don't want to lose to IU. We may be able to beat Wiscy easier than OSU but I like our chances against both. But then I'd rather play Michigan than MSU in the semi final.

Ronnie Johnson on All-American Championship North Team

Ronnie Johnson made one of four squads to participate in the All-American Championship in New Orleans around the time of the final four. He is on a team with Yogi, Hanner, Hollowell, G-Rob III and others. Mitch McGary and DSR are on a squad together. Derek Willis is on the South team that Ronnie's team will face first. Hopefully Hanner will throw down on Willis. The games will be live on ESPN3 and rebroadcast on ESPNU. This should be pretty cool except it doesn't sound like there's a championship game.

What IU player have you ever hated the most?

I myself have hated several IU players. Personally, I would have to go with Luke Recker. He wasn't even at IU for all his playing years. One memorable play does it for me. Against us he stopped right in front of a Purdue playing jogging down the court when we were on offense. The Purdue player wasn't looking, probably because he was watching the ball being brought up the court behind him. He plowed Recker over. Referee whistle blows. CHARGE! Cheapest play I've ever witnessed in college basketball. I can't stand the other four players in the poll either. I'm sure I'm missing some other hated players.

I think the 0.7 turnovers per game less Wiscy is averaging will be hard to overcome but maybe we can get that trophy. I'd be for letting Danny hold on to the thing in his trophy case. It really would look pretty good next to the Kick Off Return Yards trophy.

All-time Favorite Players

Hey everyone, I wanted to give a quick introduction with my background and mention some sports related moments I thought were memorable from my time at Purdue. Then I will name my 10 all time favorite Purdue basketball players and 5 all time favorite Purdue football players. It'd be cool if some of you guys would do the same just to get an idea of what kind of people are here. I'd really like to see who everyone's favorite players were/are? I know some might date back to the Rick Mount days but I wasn't that fortune to witness him play.

I grew up in Anderson, IN. Choose Purdue cause I knew it was just right. Was blessed not to be brought up in an IU household. Graduated with an Accounting degree in 2000. Live in Noblesville, IN now. I had some classes with Brian Cardinal and Alan Eldridge. Also had one with Gary McQuay. Saw a few players at the co-rec and most memorable was Justin Jennings throwing down thunder dunks (actually got caught guarding him for a minute - I'm 5'7").

This guy is the 14th ranked dual threat QB according to Rivals. We already have the #18 (Marshall) and #24 (Gray) ranked dual threat QB's. Although, Gray should be playing WR but still. Gregory doesn't have an offer from us yet and has some other decent offers. He lists Minny with high interest and Purude medium interest with the rest being low interest (Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, among others). He even took an official visit to Purdue last week.

Big10 Teams NCAA Tourney Records Comparison

As much talk there has been lately about us needing/wanting to get our first NCAA championship I just wanted to compare our history to the rest of the league. As you can see there plenty of teams in our boat. Even teams like Illinois and Wisconsin that are consistently ranked during recent years don't have one. We are tied for 4th in most appearances. We have the 6th best winning percentage. What's really shitty is OMHR has one more final four appearance. We should be more concerned about that than our lack of 5 banners. We really do need to get a championship and I at least like our chances of a final four with the '12 and '13 classes.

It can be hard to get excited about a 4 star recruit at Purdue with the lack of success they have generally provided us but this looks like a good get. It fills a need at DE as well. This kid had a lot of good offers (Michigan, MSU, Nebraska, Penn St, Stanford, Wisc, etc.) He utlimately chose us over Pittsburgh.

Interception return for a Touchdown. Way to go Ryan! Nice start to the season. Go get that rookie of the year award. Now if the Purdue defense can channel a little Ryan Kerrigan. OK, the team needs more than that but I sure did like the way Robert Maci came in and did his best Kerrigan impersonation. Hopefully he gets the starting nod going forward. I like Ryan Russell but I personally think Maci should start.

Austin Appleby named Elite 11 QB

Austin Appleby was named as a final Elite 11 quarterback. The show airing on ESPN now is pretty awesome with Austin in the spotlight quite a bit. He looks like a great prospect. He appears to have a great attitude and work ethic. He appeared in the front row of the classroom on the show taking notes. Trent Dilfer told him his functional football intelligence is that of most college quarterbacks. He said it goes to his work ethic and his will. He also told Austin that he might be one his favorite people to have ever been around in his life.

In a chat, Greg Biggins from ESPN said...No doubt he performed and got better every day. He wasn't able to spit it as consistently as the other guys in the camp but from a cerebral standpoint, no one was better and he has a very nice upside to him, simply because he'll have no problems understanding a college defense and picking up the playbook as well.

Appleby won the Chalk Talk award whatever that means. It was one of several awards. I think he actually was the last pick of the 11 but....
