A clock malfunction extended the Purdue-IU game by 20 seconds. It still didn't help IU.

Did you know: there were an extra ~20 seconds played in yesterday's Purdue-Indiana matchup? SBNation won't let me embed Facebook videos here, but the privacy on this video is set to public, so...

Ultimate guide to Boilermaker history and traditions

I'm proud to announce that the newest edition of the Purdue Reamer Club's traditions book has been published and is now available for purchase. Makes a great Christmas gift for that special Boilermaker! (Also a great resource for dwelling on Purdue's rich history when things aren't going so well for Purdue athletics.)

It's Official: Beckford's Gone

It's a darn shame, but nobody's gonna be surprised by this. Here's to hoping he turns himself around and learns from the experience.

NCAA Football '13 Review

Overall, very pleased with it on the PS3. I took a 3-hour break from life yesterday when UPS finally delivered my copy that I ordered from Amazon just before dinner time. (Which also meant I had...

Vote To Bring ESPN College GameDay To Your Campus

This thing didn't work out so well for ESPN when they tried it a week or so ago, and it's coming back online today at noon ET with the scores rolled back to 0 across the board "in the spirit of fair play and good sportsmanship" since there were some serious ballot-stuffing problems before.. cough NC State, Texas A&M cough Cast your vote like you comment on open threads! Vote early, vote often. The contest will be open for 10 days.

Vote To Bring ESPN College GameDay To Purdue

Vote early, vote often! Purdue is currently in 9th place overall, and 2nd in the Big Ten but with just under half of Nebraska's 2nd place overall 2,279 votes. Get out and vote! Boiler up!

Journalism ≠ Math

So I don't know whether Jeff Rabjohns ever actually went to IU, but I couldn't resist when he claimed that BYU winning 78-72 after being down 25 was a 36 point swing: @JeffRabjohns guess those IU...

Text 0+BOILERMAKERS to 2653 and you'll get a promo code to register for March Madness on Demand for FREE (available on PC/Mac, iOS, Android, and more?). Apparently Coke Zero believes in watching basketball for free, so I support that completely. I might even drink a Coke sometime soon as a thank-you for allowing me to avoid a $3.99 fee. I am on a student budget, after all.... This works for sending 0+your team's mascot if you're not a Purdue fan, I guess.. so you guys from CQ that I know are reading this can just make sure to still put 0+BOILERMAKERS. :) Thanks, Coca-Cola. You just made my Man Cave experience cost $4 less.

NCAA Tourney Bracket with sites & tipoff times

Looks like the Boilers drew a prime time slot for their 1st round matchup - Friday at 7:27. Boiler up!

H&R Well-Represented in Purdue's "5 Students Who..." Series

Each month, Purdue profiles five students who are makers. I know a lot of people have derided the "Makers, All" campaign, but this month is "Spirit Makers" and it just so happens that myself and btfu_crespo are both featured for being excellent sports fanatics. Hail Purdue! (and Congratulations, Juan!) *Ed. note... The '98 Alamo Bowl was actually the 2nd bowl game (of 10 so far) that I attended, not the first, but it's not a big deal. The '97 Alamo Bowl was the first. But it makes the story sound better, I guess :P Edit: Thanks to reader indyhudson6 for pointing out that your daughter, Elizabeth, is also one of the featured students. Even cooler!

Vote BoilerPaulie for Homecoming King!

I know I've been less active this semester in the commenting here, but I'm still reading H&R as much as I can. It's been a crazy busy semester, due in part to the fact that I'm a candidate for homecoming king. But the window for campaigning opened up this morning at 8 am, so now I get to try to throw my name out there as much as possible for the next 9-1/2 days. Voting begins this Thursday morning, and goes through 11:59 pm the following Thursday, so if you're a current Purdue student, please consider voting for #1, Paul Branham! Even if you don't vote for me, please vote. Voting takes place on GetInvolved. If you're not a current Purdue student, you unfortunately can't vote, but your verbal or grassroots support is still greatly appreciated. If you need more information about Homecoming in general, call 494-8976 or visit the PSUB website at There are lots of things going on during Homecoming Week. Boilermaker Special Dedication Luncheon

The Purdue Reamer Club has a very special event on October 1 before the Notre Dame game, from Noon-2pm. We will be hosting a special dedication luncheon for the new Boilermaker Special that TMill got to ride for the very first time about a month ago. The train was dedicated to the university between the 1st and 2nd quarters of the Middle Tennessee State game, but we are hosting this special luncheon as a fundraiser for the club to help keep the BMS the icon that it is. Activities will include lunch (of course), a silent auction, and a live auction. We're gonna have all kinds of awesome Purdue and train swag in the auctions, and it's all for a good cause. Sign up with Purdue Conferences to reserve your spot at the luncheon soon. Cost to attend is $25 for Reamer Alumni and $30 for friends of the University.

For anyone in town for the game who hasn't heard yet, there will be a substance-free tailgate tomorrow morning from 9am - 11:40 am between Armstrong Hall of Engineering and Johnson Hall of Nursing. The main target audience for this is students and young alumni, but all are welcome. The Custodian will be there at 11! And it's free!

This is excellent news for anyone with DirecTV, Dish Network, or Time Warner Cable. Good job, Dish - you finally got yourselves a contract that benefits me!

Iowa offers a "tweet" scholarship

This showed up in my LinkedIn headlines for Higher Education articles and I thought it was pretty interesting. Too bad Purdue isn't giving away tuition remissions for clever messages crammed into 140 characters. Or, in 140 characters: "This showed up in my LinkedIn hdlns 4 Higher Education & I thought it was interesting. 2 bad Purdue isn't giving away money for clever msgs."

It's official: Ohio State has not beaten Purdue in football since 2008!

Ohio State just vacated last season's wins, which means the 49-0 thumping that I was present for in Columbus last year doesn't count anymore! Does this mean that we won 5 games last year now, or the game just doesn't even matter? Not that it matters anyway, given how the rest of the season went...

Rice Game Watch Party! ... at Rice Stadium!

All right folks, Purdue football faces the Rice Owls on Saturday, September 10th at 2:30 pm CDT, and there's no way they're going to fill their 50,000-seat stadium all on their own. Now, I know...

Big Ten Network Unveils New Logo

The B1G took a whole lot of flak for the new conference logo, but this time, the Big Ten Network seems to have rebranded for the better, in my opinion. I'm definitely a fan of the school-specific BTN logos.

What would you say with 6 characters?

I posted back in February about the opportunity to vote for Purdue as a new license plate design in Texas. Well, the voting period is long gone now, and tonight at 8 pm, will...

Johnson, Moore Included On Wooden Award National Ballot

Congratulations, men! You deserve the recognition. Good luck.

NCAA Tournament Second And Third-Round Ticket Information

I personally despise ticketmaster, but we've got Notre Dame and Purdue both playing in Chicago... should make for an interesting ticket market.

Happy Birthday, Robbie!

GBI reports that on this day in 1989, Robbie Hummel was born. Oh yeah, and Purdue pretty much owned the Big Ten Awards show last night.

YouTube has been playing lots of dirty tricks on me. First I couldn't upload a video longer than 15 minutes. So I divided them up into two videos and put them up. Then it told me that my account can now upload videos longer than 15 minutes. So I did. At any rate... I hope those who wanted to see the Senior Night festivities have gotten their wish. Links to the split videos just in case you were really attached to the originals posted.... Part 1 Part 2

Senior Night photos and videos

My pictures and videos taken from the bottom of the upper bowl in the Paint Crew. Youtube videos in another post. Thank you, JJ & E'Twaun. Choo-choo.

Versyp adds to Purdue's 2012 hype

I know we don't discuss Women's Basketball very often on here, but I just happened to see this as a headline for Purdue on rivals. This is a pretty exciting verbal - a 5'7" guard from Alabama who has scored 3,336 points in her first three seasons in high school... averaging 35 points/game in her junior year. Recruiting Needs: Scoring guard... check.

E'Twaun on the Dan Dakich Show

Great interview and praise by Dan Dakich. E'Twaun gets to showcase his humility on a big time radio show. -1 to Dan for using the term "The Region" :P Credit really goes to JordanLegend, I think, for posting this on twitter. I clicked on the link before noting real well who posted it, but here it is anyway. And as he said in his tweet (or something like it), E'Twaun can sure ball but he is tough to decipher on the radio.

The Great Gary Parrish Repents!

Give credit to Gary Parrish - he doubted us and we gave him crap for it. But he has officially repented of his ways. Meanwhile, Seth Davis still won't put Purdue in his top 10.

Purdue Invades Texas!

I have a favor to ask of all of you on behalf of the Great State of Texas... Or at least the part of my family that lives there. Some 3 or 4 years ago I read a Purdue Alumnus magazine article...
