Draft thoughts that no one cares about...
But I have nowhere else to spew them.
I think there are very few elite prospects in this draft. If you mixed the 2011-2012 draft classes and ranked the prospects, it might go something like this: (After the jump)
A SAM named Luke
When Brian polled us Rumblers about which positions we thought were the highest priority for the Bills, I was one of the minority who thought 4-3 OLB was the least of Buffalo's needs. However, given that Luke Kuechly's combine showed significantly more athleticism than any draft prognosticator could have predicted, I'm starting to like the idea of Nix drafting the stud linebacker from Boston College with the 10th pick. I know it isn't the Bills' biggest position of need, but, he might very well be the best player on the board, he's probably a day one starter, he's got the athleticism to cover speedy H-Backs like Dallas Clark, the size to match up with bruising tight ends like Rob Gronkowski, and he has the versatility to play both outside in 4 man fronts and inside in 3-4 looks.
So I'm coming around to the idea. There's no guarantee he's there, and reading between the lines from Buddy Nix, it sure seems like the Bills are targeting an OT with that pick, but he's got all the measureables that Buddy loves, and Wes Bunting said Kuechly "looks like the safest prospect on the defensive side of the ball in the NFL draft." So what do you guys think? Are the Bills too needy at left tackle and defensive end to grab an elite talent like Kuechly?
Anyone else wondering about Jasper?
I'm worried that he's ballooned up again. I guess we'll have to wait and see, but I guess I would be surprised if he shows up to camp (assuming there is a camp) weighing less or the same as when he was drafted. No reason to think that, it's just guys don't get to be 450lbs by accident.
There was somebody posting here who knew him, or an acquaintance personally. Any word? Is he still working out?
Dr. Strangefan, Or: How I Re-Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bills.
That game just about killed me. After the game, I grabbed my London Fletcher jersey, walked out into the middle of the street wearing a pair of pajama bottoms and nothing else, and I unceremoniously dropped that flaccid attachment to pain onto the blacktop, and stormed back into my house.
I've never done anything like that before. I'm usually a pretty cool headed fan, and I hate having to buy things twice. So as I lay in bed twenty minutes later, cursing under my breath and waiting for my girlfriend to try to remind me that 'it's just a game,' or 'you shouldn't get so worked up over things you can't control,' just so I can tell her were to shove her words of wisdom, I realized something. I wanted my jersey back, or, at least I realized that I would want my jersey back by the time the Bucs come to town. So I sat up, and wearing the same dignified outfit that I had on the last time, I marched out the door to retrieve my one and only game day get up. It was gone. Apparently, twenty minutes is too long to leave a Bills jersey in the middle of the street in North Buffalo. Whatever, I threw it away for a reason right?
