Amick: Blazers Buy Out Shawne Williams

Sam Amick of SI.com reports on Twitter that the Portland Trail Blazers have finalized a buyout of forward Shawne Williams. ---------------------------- Portland has finalized the buyout agreement with F Shawne Williams, per source. He was owed $3.1 million next season & joins free agent pool ---------------------------- Williams picked up his $3.1 million player option back in June after being acquired by the Blazers in the March trade that sent forward Gerald Wallace to the New Jersey Nets. In the days after the trade, it was reported that the Blazers would seek a buyout but Williams, who was dealing with a foot injury, consistently maintained that he would pick up his player option. Williams, 26, never suited up for the Blazers last season bu averaged 4.5 points and 2.7 rebounds in 20.6 minutes per game in 25 appearances for the Nets prior to the trade. ed: text edited, bumped to front page

Rockets/Lin agree to offer

So does this just leave us with Dallas as a possible suitor for Felton? Think they'd offer us something for him? I guess they could just sign him outright since they missed out on Williams and Kidd. Also, New York says they'll match any offer for Lin, so Houston could still lose out.

Raptors to amnesty Calderon

Picking this guy in the amnestry auction might not be a bad idea. Lillard won't be ready to start on Day 1, and we could rent Calderon until that time comes and trade him away later if needed. He's a solid point guard and his Per 48 minute assist totals are on par with some of the top guys in the league. Think of him as insurance since we have very little PG depth, and the price tag will be cheap.

Stern gives Boston a 2nd round pick as compensation for Green

Seems like if there was some sort of wrong doing on OKC's part, shouldn't they then lose a 1st round pick? And since when did the commissioner protect teams that make bad trades? Minnesota traded for Webster who missed a season with a known back injury. Of course we got Babbit back, so not sure who lost in that trade.

Alex Kennedy ‏@AlexKennedyNBA The Houston Rockets are shopping Samuel Dalembert, according to sources. He may be packaged with one of Houston's first-round picks. Interesting that this rumor comes up while Olshey is down in Houston checking out Joel Freeland. Dalembert would fill a need for Portland. Think there's any chance Portland is the team trying to grab him?

Hornets trade Okafor/Ariza to Wizards for Lewis and #46 pick

Does Washington really need Okafor AND Nene?

Ford: 2007 NBA draft redo for Portland

Does anybody have insider? I'd love to read this but am too cheap to pay Chad Ford for something that should be free on ESPN.com

Chris Haynes reporting Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

has Blazers workout scheduled for next week. Interesting...considering he's projected top 3 almost everywhere. Kentucky standout Michael Kidd-Gilchrist says he has a workout scheduled w/ #Blazers next week. He's likely a top 3 pick. Someone moving up?

I'm watching them work out on NBA TV at the draft combine. NBADraft.net profile after the jump.

Paul Allen: I've Interviewed 4 Blazers GM Candidates

Portland Trail Blazers owner Paul Allen writes on Twitter that he has interviewed four GM candidates. --------------------------- Portland Trail Blazers GM search has made progress, I have interviewed four candidates in person, good talks, doing more reference checks now. --------------------------- Kerry Eggers of the Portland Tribune reports... --------------------------- Sources say four candidates have been in front of Allen: Indiana GM David Morway; former New Orleans coach and GM Jeff Bower; Tony DiLeo, assistant GM and senior vice president in Philadelphia, and Neil Olshey, GM and vice president of the Clippers. DiLeo and Olshey both met with Allen last week in London. ... "If we end up not hiring one of these three (finalists), or if somebody else doesn’t surface that we don’t know about now, we’d move [Acting GM] Chad [Buchanan] into the role," Miller said. --------------------------- Blazers president Larry Miller said on Wednesday that the team was getting close to making a decision after more than a year since former GM Rich Cho was fired. ed: text edited, bumped to front page

Birdman under investigation....

Egh......i'm not touching this one....

Kobe Bryant's bad week continues

First they trade his best teammate away for nothing, then the rival team in his city gets the all-star he wanted, and now Vanessa is filing for divorce. And he doesn't have a pre-nup? That's a pretty bad week.

Billups enforcing my dislike for the NBA

Just reading this makes me sick. Chauncey Billups is crying that he's been wronged by the system and he deserves the freedom to choose where he plays next year. He's threatening teams that he won't play up to his potential if the team that picks him up on the amnesty auction block isn't a team he wants to play for. He says it's all about him now and he's not going to play the role of the nice guy any more. Hey Chauncey, nobody gives a crap. You're making $14.5 million to play basketball next year. Show up to work and earn your paycheck. I'm sorry your feelings were hurt because you got cut. Guess what, people get layed-off all the time in the real world when their employer doesn't want them around anymore. NBA...I will not spend another dime on tickets, merchandise, etc this year because of this fool. I hope other fans decide to do the same.

trade before lockout? Amnesty implications?

Just a  question here.  Hopefully I'm posting this in the right place.    If a player were to get traded prior to the lockout, does anybody know if the receiving team would be able to cut the new...
