Pitttsburgh pro sports and OSU college fan now living in Boston
Living in Boston and being a die hard Pirates fan low these many years only allows me to get to 1-2 series per year. I have pretty much been able to do this most of the last 10 years. This year...
A very sad story from the Orioles. Mike Flanagan has been found dead at age 59. I remember his playing days well. May he rest in peace. http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/baltimore-county/bs-md-co-flanagan-house-death-20110824,0,4675762.story
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8SK0rk5jdE&feature=player_embedded This You Tube video called Ultimate batting practice where the batter uses pitchbacks to go around the horn is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen. I just got back from Pawtucket where I saw Indy come back from a 7-0 deficit to win 9-7. This game appeared to be over in the 2nd as the Sox scored 7 runs early. Indy fought back and really...
Can we start to get excited about Starling Marte now? He's batting .364 so far at Altoona. Tonight he went 3 for 7 with 6 RBIs and a triple.
Bought Clemente 21 to read on a business trip and couldn't put it down. The illustrations are compelling and add a lot to this amazing story. Kids will like it too (8+) but it does deal with racism and some adult themes. It also describes some Christian stories in lovely detail even if your not religious as context for who Roberto was. Don't let the graphic nature of the book fool you, it seems really well researched and is much more in depth than I expected. IMO for the price every fan should own a copy.
Last week during a radio interview about Papalbon, Theo discussed the Red Sox philosophy on free agency and arbitration. I boiled it down to "Theo's Rule" which says that the Sox will not give a...
Paul Mirengoff of Powerline blog has just completed a 5 part series on Gm 7 of the 1960 World Series titled The Most Dramatic Game Ever Played. It's one of the most detailed accounts that I have...
Don't know the reason but Lincoln was pulled after 37 pitches in the 3rd inning tonight in Indy. He had 2 IP, 2ER, 2H, 2K and had picthed to 2 batters in the 3rd when he was pulled. I'm guessing he's coming back to Pittsburgh.
Is it to soon to ask if it really makes any sense to consider replacing a 3B who is hitting 380 who is better defensively (maybe by a wide margin) with a 3B who is hitting .237? I don't think...
