Finally, My Mock Draft
OK, so after a last minute complete redo of my mock draft, I am finally done. Please ask or comment on any of the picks, BUT NOT THE TEAM ORDER! If you say something like, "Why are the Colts 15th, idiot?" then I will ignore you. And if you hate my mock, try making your own.
Team Needs
OK, so I am going to be doing my own Mock Draft. I have never tried one before so if you dont like it dont be hateful, but I will take constructive criticism. Do not comment, though, on the order of the teams, or I will ignore you. Before I do my mock, I want to make sure I have the team needs right, so please tell me how my needs chart looks. And can someone make a list of which teams have first rounders aquired from trades?
Note: Broncos guy, dont worry I wont give your team a QB in the first round.
Brett Ratliff mural
I thought this was pretty cool
Practice Squad
OK, so since we have talked about players' odds of making the practice squad, I have a few questions about it.
Madden 10 Browns
Here is the Browns roster for 2010. Many people got ratings that dont fit them at all, especially Quinn, Wimbley, Mack, Maiva, Veikune, Hall, Wright and McDonald.
Surprise Team
Im glad someone gives us a little respect
Selvin Young
If anyone knows what his contract looked like with the broncos last year could you tell me
2010 FA
I feel sure Kotnkus (sp) and Mangini will give Jackson a fair contract. I hope they also sign back Vickers and Braylon. On the bright side though, we do have a franchise tag.
2010 Draft
I know most of u wont want to talk about it because we just finished this years' but i feel like having a conversation about the 2010 draft. As of right now we have
all the picks we would start out with + a fifth rounder from tampa.
I will tell u what i think about each position:(i ididnt include center for obvious reasons)
QB: even though next year is supposed to be a good QB class (that doesnt mean it will. Hunter Cantwell, Cullen Harper, and Curtis Painter were all thought to be future high draft picks this time last year) I strongly oppose drafting a QB. Even if Anderson is traded, we still have Ratliff and Harrel.
RB: I think this might be our biggest need for next year. Jamal doesnt have much left in his tank and Harrison (im a big fan) probably cant be a feature back. Unless we see big potential from Davis, we should draft a running back early. I would prefer to get a Jonathan Dwyer(the next brandon Jacobs), but i also like some guys like Jahvid Best . My dream though is that we land LaDanian next year in the FA.
WR: If we keep Braylon then we definetley wont need a WR after drafing 2 receivers this year. Plus we have Legget, Hubbard, and Norwood that have potential.
TE: If Rucker struggles, then drafting a TE might be neccesary. If he does fine though, i dont want one.
OT: we wont need a starting left tackle, but depending on how St Clair does we will have to see if we will need a RT. I think Sam Young would be a good RT for us. Depth at either position would be nice though.
OG: We have a good LG. Our RGs are solid but old. We might want to look into drafting another one. (i like the marlon davis FA signing though)
DT: As long as big baby stays content, this is a position of strength. Rubin is also a good backup.
DE: This is another big need IMO. Corey Williams struggled last year, Kenyon Coleman is old, Robaire Smith is old AND hurt, and i just cant stand shaun smith. I was a little disappointed that we didnt get Gilbert this year, and i really want a good DE this year. The guy i like right now is Carlos Dunlap from Florida. Ndamukong suh is beastly too.
OLB: I think Wimbley is solid and Hall could be good. Veikune could play a little OLB too. Bowens is solid as a backup. I dont think we need to draft an OLB, but if we do i hope it is Jerry Hughes from TCU. Last year, his sophomore year, he led the nation in sacks with 15.
ILB: I will be angry if we draft an ILB, even if it is Spikes. D'Qwell and Barton are good starters, and veikune can provide pass rush from this position. We also have Ruud, Bell, The Boulder(kaluka), and Leon so i think we have enough.
CB: Wright is good and Mcdonald is solid. Ivy and Poteat are both solid. Coye Francies could turn out to be good. Corner isnt much of a need.
S: I think safety is a need. Elam and Pool are solid, and Mike Adams is a good backup, but we need another safety. One of the UDFA DB's that we signed might turn out to be good, but i still want to draft a safety. It wouldnt surprise me if Eric Berry is a future HOFer, and i would love to draft him. Taylor Mays can hit but he cant cover(he doesnt fit the mold of a Mangini safety), so im not near as excited about him. If we cant land Berry, I still hope we draft a safety in the 3rd or 4th round.
So i would say our needs are (in no order RB, an OL(G or RT), DE, and S)
My favorite prospects are:
1. Jonathan Dwyer, RB, Georgia Tech. This dude is a flat out beast. He is about 6'1 240 and he has great speed for such a big guy. He is like a faster Brandon Jacobs. i recommend watching some of his highlights on youtube.
2. Eric Berry, S, Tennessee. He is amazing. He can hit harder than many linebackers AND he is great in coverage. It is rare when you come across a safety this complete.
3. Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida. He has great size to be a 3-4 end(6'6 290). He is a bit raw, but he is a long, athletic DE who can also rush the passer. Im pretty sure he was Defensive MVP of the national championship.
Please note all of these guys are coming into their junior season so there is a chance they wont go pro.
I think this thread will probaly be fun to look back on next april.
Selvin Young released by Broncos
I would love to pick this guy up. Your thoughts?
Holmes arrested for marijuana posession
Im not gonna miss going against him.
What NOT to do
Dumb story. We wont take Monroe because he cant play RT. OT isnt that big of a need because we have tucker and St. Clair and if we want to take someone there would be many guys available in the second like Loadholt and Britton
Our D-Line
Just curious, but why are our Defensive so big? I know that D-lineman are usually larger in a 3-4 but I checked out some other teams depth charts that run a 3-4 and there lineman are smaller. Their Defensive ends are close to 300 and some are below that. Is this one reason for our lack of pass rush? With Ryan as the new defensive coordinator will our line look any different?
Raiders giving up on Russel?
Glad we ended up with Quinn instead of Russel
Trade proposition from Browns Player
Okay so Im a Cleveland Browns fan and i just want to know what you all would say to this trade offer:
Derek Anderson for your 20th pick and a 6th or 7th rounder. Since you all need a good QB and we need an OLB( we could probably pick either matthews or cushing with that pick) this might work out good.
What do u all think?
If you all have a counter offer post that too.
