Let This Be the Moment (Take 4)...

My first post ever on this site is transcribed below. It was minutes after a particularly ugly loss to the Patriots at home on Monday night. This was week 4, 2010. I was looking to put together...

Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock...

You know it's funny. Every year around the Super Bowl, a small part of me looks forward to the season ending. There are a couple of reasons for this. The first is that I look forward to going...

Welcome to "Ire" Land...

I don't like Jeff Ireland. I have been a proponent of his firing at the end of the last two seasons. I think his drafts have been mediocre, at best, and horrific, worst. I hold him at least...

In Peter King's Monday Morning Quarterback SI.com column, he states that Andrew Luck "had his moments" yet, Tannehill was obviously starting "too soon". This confuses me as they both threw three picks, and lost on the road to top defenses. (Although, think the Texans have a better D than the Bears.) Granted, Luck threw a TD and had more passing yards, but Tannehill's comp percentage and yards per attempt were considerably higher, stats which most analyst feel are more indicative of QB play.. Objective journalism at its finest...

Opening Statements...

And so it begins. The dawning of a new NFL season. (Or is "damning" more appropriate?) The time of year where we dream of fast September starts, clutch December wins, and early February parade...

Playoff Bound!!!

The link is to Don Banks first NFL power rankings of the year. You'll notice he has Miami ranked dead last. This was bothering me till I remembered two things: 1. Banks has never once had a positive thing to say about this team. Ever. 2. His first power rankings from 2011 had Denver at 29, San Francisco at 30, Cincinnati at 31 and Carolina at 32. Three of those teams made the playoffs, so I figure we now have a 75% chance of post-season football this year.Yay!!!

This joke is always funnier when it doesnt apply to your team. But if we are being honest, isn't this what the Dolphins have sunk too?

Reason #5,492 Why I Hate the Media: Two years ago at this time, the Steelers traded Santonio Holmes, a super bowl MVP and number one receiver, to the Jets for a fifth round pick. And the media lauded the Steelers for having such a classy organization that is intolerant of any off the field troublemakers. Fast forward to yesterday: We trade Brandon Marshall for MUCH MUCH more in return, two thirds, and we are being laughed at as a joke of an organization that "gave away" their best receiver. The definition of contradiction and double standard. Its why I hate the media…

I hate to be the one to bring this up now, but here goes: For all of you that criticized us "Suck for Luck"ers: Now seeing how this off season is unfolding, would you give back the KC, Oak, Washington victories in order to put us in a better position now? This isnt an "I told you so" as much as it is a bit of a response to the short-sightedness we were accused of having. Let's be honest here: Those victories killed us going forward...

Question on Vontae Davis...

5

The link is to a Ben Volin blog post from earlier today. About half way through, he mentions 2013 free agents on the team. He lists Sean Smith, but not Vontae Davis. Having been drafted the same year, I figured their contracts would expire at the same time. Has Davis been extended? Anyone know his contract status?

Well, there is no turning back now....
