Craig Kimbrel
Early in 2010 I criticized the low ranking of Kimbrel on this board and was blasted for it. Now, I could not have imagined his level of dominance but I still thought he would be an elite closer. With the impact he is making on the Braves team do most of you still feel that his prospect ranking was appropriate? Should we start to re-consider how we rate potential closer prospects? Especially those that dominated the minor leagues like Kimbrel did. I understand the skepticism with his bad control numbers but relievers sometimes can be effectively wild and I think Kimbrel benefits from that.
Craig Kimbrel's future
Do the Braves make him the 2011 closer? Amazing numbers so far this year. I got some slack for trying to make a case his community ranking should be higher. I understand the argument that relief pitchers don't have the value of starting pitchers or positional players. However, I think you sometimes need to look past that when you have a guy with such dominant stuff and stats. All indications are that he will be a good closer in this league and when you realize just how much closers are paid nowadays, a league minimum closer has tremendous value to any team. Glad he is showing that I might have been right. Kid is downright filthy.
