We need to make a move. Marvin, ZaZa, Speedy and a pick...
...to Phoenix for C/PF Amare Stoudamire.
While I understand all the risks with Amare after his knee procedure the fact is if we are going to do it this year we need a go-to-guy in the paint to complement Joe Johnson from outside.
I'm up for even giving them our first rounder next year if that gets it done. Hell, I'd even give them a future conditional pick based on if Marvin re-signs with them or not.
We have got to upgrade this team by the deadline and it can't be a minor tweak if we are expecting to go farther than the first round.
We would have a couple of options with moving Amare to C and moving Al to PF and Josh to SF but I'd rather just put Amare at PF and slide Josh over to SF.
Btw, I checked this with realgm's trade checker and it works.
UPDATED - A little over 24 hr until NSD - Sched. of Annnounements for Targets
With the Auburn Tigers expected to sign about 30 in this class and with the current commitment list now sitting at 22 it appears that these are the targets left and when they have announced they will commit:
Phillip Marshall Reporting Tyrik Rollison Will Be Full Qualifier
I don't have a subscription to the Auburn Undercover site but that is the title to his posting on his message board.
Link to AU Underover message board.
If this is the case this would be a tremendous weapon to use in the final week of recruiting.
If you were Emory Blake, Deangelo Benton, Reuben Randle, or even Kendall Kelly how do you not want to play under this guy?
Man this guy is sick!
UPDATED: Oops. Sorry about that. Here's the actual link.
BTW, who looks at that chart and just menitons Carter? Wow. Talk about blinders!
After assembling a solid rotation and possibly adding a CF...
...(who just happen to have had had his best years in Atlanta and is just 31 years old) and not spending a lot of money do the Braves FINALLY make a deal for a corner OF (Reports have them looking at Xavier Nady and NICK Swisher) or do they have the money to sign a price-reduced-by-the-market Adam Dunn?
I have to say that I'm intrigued by an opening day batting order that looks like this:
2B Kelly Johnson (L)
SS Yunel Escobar
C Brian McCann (L)
CF Andruw Jones
3B Chipper Jones (S)
LF Adam Dunn (L)
RF Jeff Francouer
1B Casey Kotchman (L)
I really can't believe we've put together the rotation we have now for the money we paid and I hope we don't just put the money back in the bank.
I want to get back in the hunt. Now.
