Bradford or Feeley against the Cards?
To be honest, if you'd told me we'd win against the Saints with A.J. Feeley at quarterback, I, along with almost any person who knows what the word "football" means would have said you need to share whatever you're smoking.
In fact, even with Sam Bradford at QB that notion would have you laughed out of the teahouse.
It happened, and after the game and even recently I've posted my doubts as to whether Feeley should go against the Cardinals or if Sam should be rushed into the lineup. Sure he's coming along, but this week we're playing another 1-6 team who doesn't likely have Kevin Kolb in the lineup.
Feeley's been taking all the reps in practice even though Sam's out of his bootie, and the more reps A.J. gets, the more comfortable he's getting.
Tricks and Treats, the Pendulum swings back
It's great when everything works out, ain't it? Our team played with real drive and purpose yesterday, like something we havent seen all year. We knocked on the door of the Rams house yesterday and they handed out a whole bunch of candy for the fans. As for every one who picked the Saints to win, they had something else for their holiday gift.

This is the face Sam Bradford needs to be showing on the sidelines right now.
Hey, I have a holiday coming up this weekend, in case ya’ll live on another planet or something. As much as I want to do what I can to help our hapless group of guys, sometimes it’s best not to overload the blender. Sometimes less is more. I know, ya’ll probably thought I’d come up with a "super whammy" given that Halloween is coming up this weekend. Sorry if I disappoint, but there is a method to the madness.
Four Thieves Spell - Breaking the Red Zone hex

As the moon wanes to new, a spell which dispels or removes things is the most used. So this spell will be focusing on removing rather than enhancing. A great time to remove or banish the misfortune in the Red Zone.
The components actually take four days to assemble, so the actual spell will be cast on Saturday. This is perfect, since Saturday is the day associated with Saturn and banishing. On to the 'Boys...

Ok, that's taken care of. I've finally decided that I'm not going to stand by and watch us sink without trying to do something about this mess. It certainly can't hurt. Positive energy simply can't.
In case my user name didn't tip you off, I'm a witch. Have been for 19 years. So, I've given up the shit ass attitude for some positive spellwork. First up...Packers...
Full moon, clear October night
St.Louis’s ship is still not right
We sail to Lambeau, land of Cheese
Banged up, bruised, brought to our knees
We’re 0 and 4, and need to score
Not 7, not 10, but something more
Forty’s what we need to see
For the Rams first away victory
This Green Bay crew with cheesy heads
Let them watch our Jackson’s dreads
Leave them in a cloud of dust
Hear our plea, Hooved one you must
Bradford’s arm ring straight and true
Receivers hands will stick like glue
Offensive line pursue the block
And let McDaniels use the clock
Laurenitis guide our D
For we believeth dear in thee
For we are Rams in heart and soul
We want another Super Bowl
We’re young like you, but pissed off too
You know we are, and so are you
Great Horned one, once more we ask
Your blessings on this team at last
We’ve done the work, know what to do
Help us to realize it too
With harm to none, this spell is cast, So mote it be.
Let this spell not reverse, nor bring upon us any curse

Will week 5 be the turning point?
Rams fans are the definition of resilient. From Miriam Webster:
a : capable of withstanding shock without permanent deformation or ruptureb : tending to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change
Again, tending is the key word in the second line. We don't always recover or adjust easily. Long time Rams fans watch the game like last Sunday's loss to the Redskins with a kind of silent depression. Some of us are pissed at Spags for clapping when the team comes off the field after screwing up again.
Here's how he rationalizes this: "I’m deeply in thought a lot in my office about it," Spagnuolo said. "And there’s a lot of different ways, I don’t believe you beat people down. That’s just not my nature. So I’m an encourager and an enhancer."
Encouragement is something us fans need, too. Is there something to look forward to after the bye week?
Amendola....from the end zone...
So now we get to watch kickoffs from the 35 yard line, and the resulting seemingly endless succession of touchbacks. Yep, the league has decided in order to reduce injuries during the kickoff this will simply make less of them returnable.
It will put more kicks landing in the end zone, but will it actually put them out of the back of the end zone? Will it just make more kick returners willing to run it out from 5-9 yards deep rather then take a knee? Are returners that do more zig-zagging and dancing likely to get stopped inside the 10 yard line?
If so, it may be that kick returners like Danny Amendola, who had been meeting the oncoming team at the 20-30 yard line will now be cutting through them at the 15-25 yard line. I don't suppose he'll be running any slower than he was last year. Does this mean his potential for even better production as a kick returner is possible?
"It's all about build around the QB"
Its great to not have to worry about the quarterback position, as any Rams fan can attest to after watching with excitement as each game developed last year. Those of us who would have been happy with 3 wins saw an emerging force develop around Sam Bradford despite losing Donny Avery and Mark Clayton early in the season. The "same old sorry Rams" knocked at the door of the NFC West division title for the first time in years.
So...now what? Theories abound. Strengthen the offensive line. Bolster the defensive line. Get a shutdown corner or a safety who can be a game changer. Pleas for a outside linebacker,a standout wideout or a solid backup running back.
At Mizzou Pro day today, Director of College Scouting John Mancini may have tipped the Rams hand in how they may be approaching not only today but the draft in general. We have the luxury of not having to worry about the QB position, and finally centerpiece to build around.
If this is the mind frame the team is going into the draft with, how would it change how you'd look at the 14th pick?
The NFL "seeding" mess because of our division
Here's what I understand about the seeding process:
In the NFL, each of the two conferences sends two wild-card teams along with four division champions to its postseason. The first round of the playoffs is called the "Wild Card Round". In this round, each conference's two best (by regular-season record) division champions are exempted from play and granted automatic berths in the "Divisional Round". The four division champions are seeded from #1 through #4, while the two wild card teams are seeded #5 and #6; within these separations, seeding is by regular-season record. In the "Wild Card Round", the #6 team (a wild card team) plays against the #3 team (a division champion) and the #5 team (a wild card team) plays against the #4 team (a division champion). The division champions have automatic home-field advantage in these games.
Ok, so by the "normal" process, if we win this division, we get home field against the wild card team in the NFC.
Why, in the hell should this year be any different, just because this division happens to be weak this year? Next year, we could easily have twice the victories at this time we have now( ok, maybe not easily, but look where we came from). This division will have a clear dominant team next year. Now they want to make more changes to an already turbulent NFL?
I'm just sayin'....they need to back off and let the guys play.
Cassel practiced today
The Kansas City Star reported that Matt Cassel practiced today.
This has all the makings of a great game
Looking at the stats, the only glaring thing that jumps out at me for Sundays game is the Chiefs running attack. I'm wondering what, if any adjustments can be made to offset the #1 rushing offense in the NFL. Add to that the possibility that Cassel may be back in the lineup and their attack is well balanced enough to do big damage. If the Rams are smart about this one, they'll prepare for Cassel in the game regardless of what his "day to day" status is.
These two teams are pretty well matched up and if we can be turnover free we have a fairly balanced attack as well. Steven Jackson is no slouch as we know, and the Rams and KC are 21st and 22nd in passing defense yards per game allowed, repsectively. We should see a few more shots deep to Alexander this week then we did against New Orleans, and with Amendola in the slot and now Gibson becoming a little more comfortable, I look for Sam Bradford to bounce back in a good way this week.
We're underdogs at home according to the Bleachers report:
Not the first time this season...GO RAMS!
Rams vs. Cards, Part 2 "Low Country Boil"
Ya'll remember pretty clear the 17-14 loss we suffered to the Cardinals on our home turf in the week opener, I'm sure. Visions of sugar plums weren't dancing in our heads after that game. Looking back now, and forward to this coming weeks game, the Rams have grown by leaps and bounds.
This is a different team now. You can see and feel the difference and we can beat teams without Avery and Clayton(who'd a thunk it?).
The Cardinals are also a different team, albeit not necessarily for the better. The NFC West is like a Low Country Boil. Lots of stuff in a big pot with nobody really surfacing. The only thing that does stay near the top is the spices, which just of roll around and give everything flavor. The Rams are kinda like the spice in this pot. We're all over everything now, we give the division some excitement and flavor, and we're rising to the top.
I don't make predictions but observation is, the Lowly St. Louis Rams are starting to build some major momentum. There's a feeling of confidence, even with key players out.
Holla...
We can't win this game
There. Now I have your attention. I actually don't believe that. As much as very few people think the Rams have a shot at this game, I believe we do. I think that our group of guys just needs to do a few things:
1. No turnovers. This is important, as Atlanta seems to always make points from turnovers.
2. Turn up the heat on "Matty Ice". Early and often. If the defense comes out hungry like we've seen they can, pressure on Matt Ryan can cause their proficient passing game upside down. We are tied for the league lead in sacks at 28. This could happen.
3. Play 60 minutes. Nuff said there. Ball control and the Falcons offense on the bench for as long as we can.
Rams mid season witchnote
Really not going to try to piss anyone off this time, promise. Looking back as we approach the midway point, there's a lot to look at which everyone here has done in some fashion. Shurmur and play calling, beating San Diego and losing horribly to Detroit, the improved Defense, O-Line and the wild and wacky world of wide-outs. Oh...not last and definitely not least, Sam, Sjax and the special teams. For certain, the Rams are a better team than last year. They are constantly screwing up the NFL network and general commentator picks (I love that). Problem is, we don't seem to know which Rams team will show up on any given week. We've GOT to win on the road. It's the only way we have for a shot in this division this season. My attention has slanted to Darby. Not a favorite early on for me, the improved offensive line has given him some opportunities to show some things he's been working on. Hey, I'm not "all in", but this guy can move, if he has some blocking. Even Toast'em can move a bit behind a functional line. The passing game, we've got issues. Amendola and a growing Gilyard seem to be our only options. I like DX but he's not coming along as quick as he thinks he is. Looking at the next game against Carolina will have some interesting points in this area. Jumping...
