For CFB, I'm both a Nebraska and VaTech fan, due to the circumstances of my upbringing in Nebraska and later attendance at VT. As a result, I haven't been able to root for a good offense in quite a while.

You've Been Punked, 2011 edition
Every season reliably gives the fans a few shocking early-season upsets that seem to defy logic altogether. Recent examples include VT's loss to James Madison, The 2007 debacle in the Big House, Colorado's loss to Montana State, Mississippi State losing to Maine, A&M losing to Arky State and several others I'm probably unjustifiably forgetting. Several of us also share frequent war/horror stories about the near-misses that could have been legendary if the underdog had pulled it out. What are the candiates on this year's early schedule?
for the purposes of this piece, let's call a game "You've been punked" if:
- An FCS team beats an FBS team
- An unranked mid-major beats a BCS auto-bid conference team
- A doormat BCS conference team beats a heavy nonconference favorite
What games are the best candidates this year?
Inactive non-conference matchups that should be played yearly
Now that we are pretty much through with the non-conference portion of the college football season, we have witnessed many games between teams from different conferences, some great, most not-so-great. Especially annoying are the "cupcake" games in which very little thought seems to have gone into creating a compelling matchup. These games are especially bothersome when one realizes the cool meetings that could be taking place. Often, these missed opportunities include teams that are in very close proximity to each other of have a history of memorable games before the series was discontinued. Here are some games that I think should be played every year. Please tell me if you have some more of your own. For that matter if I am totally off-base or ill-informed, tell me about that, too.
