Adam Gase interview on 104.3's Drew & Scott is gold. Sure as heck isn't the usual coach speak.

DMack was commenting this was Garland's 5th year but that he was still PS eligible. There were several years he was in the military reserve and couldn't be released to an active roster.
Commented on An early Broncos depth chart projection, one week into training camp on Jul 31 2014, 2:17p
My curiosity is the correlation between # of sacks and total turnovers. It should be obvious I guess but it would still be interesting to see.

The Dekembi Mutombo effect.

I wonder what the number of turnovers was for that team? My bet is that was close to a record as well.
Commented on Horse Tracks: Marvin Austin impressing on Jul 31 2014, 10:06a - 2 replies
The addition and ascension of Austin seems to be creating an internal mind-set of competition across the defensive front, which bodes well for us and brings visions of hell for opposing QB's.
Commented on Horse Tracks: Marvin Austin impressing on Jul 31 2014, 9:01a - 1 reply
Funny. He'll be remembered more for that chair incident than his coaching history for sure.

Alzado was a character too. You don't hear much about him but Rubin Carter was/is one of my all-time favorites.

Nice to be there when history is made and fun to relive through videos like this one, eh?

That thought actually crossed my mind:O) In the case of the O-line and the running game they should.
Commented on Broncos sign two more D-linemen on Jul 30 2014, 1:57p
Agreed. At 1st glance it's "what?" but I'm beginning to think we have several position groups, specifically, DL, DB, and WR that are deep with youth and experience.
Commented on Broncos sign two more D-linemen on Jul 30 2014, 1:02p - 1 reply
Differnt words same message I've been pounding for better than two years.
Commented on The Kaptain’s Log: Broncos Week One training camp review on Jul 30 2014, 11:30a
On rereading I could have phrased my comment as "Development of the running game is the REMAINING key". I'm already seeing our D needs to win the SB largely being met.
Commented on The Kaptain’s Log: Broncos Week One training camp review on Jul 30 2014, 11:28a
The depth and talent of the interior D-line is making it very difficult to evaluate the new O-line moves. The good thing is going up against this group every day will result in a battle-hardened group before the season even begins.
Commented on The Kaptain’s Log: Broncos Week One training camp review on Jul 30 2014, 8:31a - 1 reply
Development of the running game is THE key if we're to win the SB this year. We've got the beef but it remains to be seen whether it's steak or hamburger.
Commented on The Kaptain’s Log: Broncos Week One training camp review on Jul 30 2014, 8:28a - 1 reply
This one is remembered well, couldn't believe back to back scores off fumbles. Tom Jackson was a fun, fun player to watch.

We could easily have 3 on game day active and two more on the PS.

In fact, as I am now remembering it Al is predicting Quintin moves into the starting lineup by the 4th game of the season.

Big Al of 104.3 also likes what he's seeing with Quintin C.

Commented on Denver Broncos continue to get healthier as preseason football approaches on Jul 29 2014, 12:40p
Man Ram was a rookie as a center last year. We can always hope he can make a 2nd year developmental jump. Clark MAY be better at RT but, until proven otherwise, is our weakest link.
Commented on Diagnosing the real problem: The run game on Jul 29 2014, 12:15p - 1 reply
On that line of thought it's always balancing on a fine line of now and the future. Manning dictates a bit more of "now" mentality but I've been impressed at the balancing act Elway has/is doing.

Let's hope a chip is building on the O-line's shoulders.

A back-door way of name calling includes "That's an idiotic or stupid idea." or, in this case, "trust him about as much as a diamondback".

Mental picture. Radio 104.3 is worthless as to what's actually going on on the field.

Commented on Denver Broncos News: Horse Tracks - Thoughts on training camp so far on Jul 27 2014, 12:59p
That "one aspect" you speak to was/is the key factor in opening up our D. There's no doubt in my mind we will be a dominant D if we just stay healthy. Dominant!

The formula for a good running game is there but Hillman ponying up would be the icing on top. Please! Please! Please! Let one of the bigger backs like CJ fit in there somewhere.

Commented on Broncos 2014 training camp - Kaptain's Log 7/26 on Jul 26 2014, 6:26p
I can't remember a year that would compare to how tough the cuts will be. I'd give my left one if a "true" 3 down ILB surfaced out of this group.

Charles is much like Manning in terms of whom can be least afforded missing games. The Chiefs were incredibly luck with injuries last year overall and especially at RB, not a position known for fewer injuries.
Commented on Broncos training camp: Live blog, day three on Jul 26 2014, 4:12p
Add in Wolfe and the mix and our entire D front is off the charts dominant. So much so any ILB deficiency may be unnoticeable.
Commented on Broncos training camp: Live blog, day three on Jul 26 2014, 4:09p - 1 reply
Talk to the players on those two SB winning teams and they would tell you Howard was a major contributor to the O's ability to FORCE the ball down the D's throats.
Commented on Horse Tracks: The new and improved Von Miller on Jul 26 2014, 3:47p
Yes, and I'm picking up some positive vibes from multiple sources. Nothing of "all-pro" nature but complementary.
Commented on Broncos training camp: Live blog, day three on Jul 26 2014, 2:55p
I guess the idea of a 3 down ILB is planted deep because Larente McCray and Barrow str also a high priority watch for me. Both are near 250 with some speed to cover the field.
Commented on Broncos training camp: Live blog, day three on Jul 26 2014, 2:54p - 1 reply
Thanks Ozark. Watching Lamin Barrow leaves the physical impression we're looking at a stud. He just has a bit of that "man among boys" aura on first glance.

Al is playing him big. He's out-there excited about the O-line, which is music to my ears.
Commented on Horse Tracks: The new and improved Von Miller on Jul 26 2014, 11:30a
The 98 team is a perfect example why I view our running game as high-priority area of improvement.

Thanks, Kyle. There's no way to get an honest evaluation of Brock as long as he's not getting consistent reps with the one's. My educated guess is Manning wouldn't have looked nearly so good had the roles been switched.
