Not So Worthy
"People criticize and say I may take a play off here or there; there's nobody in the NFL game today or college or all the way down to pee-wee who plays every play full speed, full-go without getting tired. It's impossible."
Contrast Worthy's statement with what Derek Wolfe said in his combine interview and the Broncos' decision makes even more sense now.

The future?
Found this on Youtube. Yes, it's just Madden but it could happen...
A CB prospect to keep an eye on
CL: What would you think of being drafted by a team like the Denver Broncos and learning how to play the position from future Hall of Famer Champ Bailey?
JN: I would love to get drafted by any team, but yeah, I would love to learn from Champ. He’s one of the best in the game to ever play and he could teach me a lot of things about how to cover at the next level. I look up to him as one of the best.
A leading question from Cecil Lammey but I would not mind this scenario at all. If he's available in the 3rd round, I say take him.
Matt Russell promoted to Director of Player Personnel
Congrats on the well-deserved promotion, Matt!

Tebow: All I Do Is Win
DJ Khaled, meet Tim Tebow.
Interesting practice note re: Orton and Tebow
During practice Monday, Orton spent a good deal of time tutoring Tebow on what looked to be mechanics and motion.
Rookie quarterback Adam Weber, who hasn't taken a preseason snap, said that wasn't surprising.
"I think it just goes to show that there's a lot of respect in the quarterback room for each other," Weber said. "We're all professionals. We're all trying to just get better at our own game and I think everyone understands that each person brings something different and it's all about the team, the focus, and that's what coach Fox is all about.
"And I think Kyle has taken on that role as a leader and saying, 'It's not about this quarterback competition and this controversy; it's about helping out another player, another Bronco.' "
Now that Kyle's officially cemented the starter role, maybe he can afford to be more of a veteran mentor to Tim. A nice sign but we'll see how long it lasts.

'Twas the Night Before Draftmas
'Twas the night before Draftmas, when all through Dove Valley,
Not a player was stirring, they'd all been locked out sadly;
The draft board was set starting at pick number two,
With hopes of four starters by the time this was through.
GM Brian Xanders was newly "empowered",
Having covered his ass like a mid-management coward;
The two Johns, Fox and Elway, formed the rest of the trio,
Tasked with restoring the old Broncos brio.
The fans were pretending that they were Coach Fox,
Rebuilding the Broncos with last minute mocks;
And Kiper and Mayock and even McShay,
Couldn't predict what would happen the next day.
Would we trade up? Would we trade down?
Could we get a pick in the fourth or fifth round?
While thinking about who our draft picks might be,
I worried that Elway might draft a QB;
No Newton! No Gabbert! No Mallett or Locker!
To waste such a pick, you'd be off your rocker.
Our defense was in need of a huge talent infusion,
Just look at the stats if there is any confusion.
Dareus, Miller and Peterson were the options at two,
Each would look nice wearing orange and blue;
If you insisted that I choose only one of these studs,
I'd have to say Dareus, though none would be duds.
Addressing the holes in the rest of our roster,
Might I suggest Leshoure, Moore and Foster;
A defensive end should also be tabbed,
Especially since one of ours was recently stabbed.
It felt like forever to arrive at this day,
But now that it's here, please allow me to say,
To all my fellow fans and MHR's head honchos,
Enjoy the Draft and to all: Go Broncos!

A Charlie Sheen Mock Draft
via cdn.springboard.gorillanation.com
5'10", 158 lbs.
Okay, step aside, Scam Newton and Yo Gabbert Gabbert. A truly elite prospect has just become available (after being kicked out of his program) that makes these losers look like droopy-eyed armless children. A bitchin' rock star from Mars who has Adonis DNA and winning in his Tiger blood. It doesn't matter if Elway is sold on Orton or Tebow, because this dude sells himself. Of course, I'm talking about none other than Carlos Estevez aka
Charlie Sheen

Tebow vs. Orton: The Debate
Tired of the same Tebow/Orton fan debates every day, I blew off some steam with this cartoon. Hope it's taken in the light-hearted context in which it was intended.

At this early stage is seems the player that most enamors the Denver Broncos, who own the second pick of the draft, is LSU cornerback Patrick Peterson.
On Bubbles
Ted Bartlett over at IAOFM provides a lengthy but interesting take on the big-picture financial issues behind the current CBA impasse.
Shouldn't we bring in Marty Mornhinweg to interview?
Yes, THAT Marty Mornhinweg. Of the 5-27 Detroit Lions record. Who's notorious for electing to kickoff in overtime vs. the Bears (and ultimately losing the game).
Before you dismiss the notion out of hand, please allow me to play Devil's Advocate:
Vernon Davis to Kyle Orton: "Come on, buddy."
Although Harbaugh will be making the decision and not Davis, I think the 49ers could be interested in acquiring Orton. Too bad trades probably won't be happening for a while due to the CBA mess.
Lights out for overdue Bills
Merriman injured 15 minutes into 1st practice with the Bills. Looks like he would've fit right in with the Broncos this season.
Branson to the Falcons
Marquez is now on Atlanta's PS. Hope we can get a good pass-catching TE in the draft or FA.
Buffalo Bile
This is rich. If Ralph Wilson really knew anything about putting a quality team together, the Bills wouldn't be a perennial also-ran.
Good luck in the AFC East this year, Ralphie boy! Heh heh.
Florida's Pro Day
I thought Haden's combine 40 time was a bit overblown, so his performance today should mostly restore perspective. I'd love for him to fall to us at #11.
Spikes's draft stock will likely slip after failing to break 5.0 in his 40. I wasn't high on him before today, and this obviously doesn't help.
No mention of Tebow curing lepers, but there was some visible improvement in his mechanics, as expected, but he's still a developmental project with potential upside.
Broncos to workout Baylor's Walton
Add JD Walton to the list of Center prospects the Broncos are working out, after Matt Tennant. Will Pouncey be next?
Zach Thomas thinks Miami should go after Marshall
Hey, Tuna, listen to Zach! I'd love your 1st rounder!
Browns axe Fraley
Fraley made 52 starts in 63 games for the Browns, who acquired him in a trade from Philadelphia before the 2006 season after Bentley, then the club's top free-agent signing, sustained a career-ending knee injury in the first contact scrimmage of training camp.
Fraley was the team's union representative and one of the most approachable players in Cleveland's locker room.
I haven't watched the Browns much, so I don't really know what Fraley's level of play has been like, but he's versatile and was a starter before being replaced by Mack.
Thoughts as a FA pickup?
