Early in the 1985, my father knelt next to me and with a wise hand on my shoulder offered this piece of wisdom. "Mike, Boston teams will break your heart. Pick some other teams."

In 85-86, I learned first hand what it was like to be a Boston sports fan. Mookie Wilson leaping to home plate and The Fridge stomping our JV defensive line. I have been hooked since.

I believe in the passion of Sport and its ability to challenge your spirit. Whether you play or watch. We get a chance to lose ourselves within innings, periods or quarters. Lost in the crisp New England air. The smell of perfectly grilled Dom's Steaktips and an ice cold beer in a Foxboro lot. The vendor yelling PROGRAAAAMSS on Yawkey Way. The excitement just before the first pitch. The thrill of a late game interception return for six or the pain of the E6 with one out left in the ninth. The common bond you share with a complete stranger just for sporting Pat Patriot or Spoked B on their shirt/hat. Or Zubaz pants.

We, as fans, get to be a part of something bigger than ourselves for these fleeting moments and it is forever the reason I stay.

I cannot wait until the day I can lean down to my little boy and tell him, "LET them break your heart. I promise, it is worth it."
