Guillen finally figured out who the Judas was - Cooper
Quite the story for any Cooper haters - hopefully you caught his reaction on the score.
I wonder who the source is? Any guesses? Coop was quite upset over giving 8 years of loyalty to the source... according to him.
Here is the link to Cooper's reaction to the article and Oz... LINK

Dunn admits thinking about quitting
Adam Dunn(notes) is talking about quitting. He’s talking about it like he’s been thinking about it, like it’s always a possibility, a failsafe if this misery continues. And then he’s talking about it like the chances of him doing it are infinitesimal because he adores baseball, even as it corrodes his sense of self. And then he’s talking about it like he’s not sure what he thinks, which tends to happen when a 31-year-old with 363 career home runs suddenly forgets how to hit a baseball.

Konerko Rumors - as soon as tomorrow?
The White Sox could have the team they wanted in July as soon as Monday if all goes to plan with Paul Konerko. The free-agent first baseman, who has spent the last 12 seasons on the South Side of Chicago, could reach a deal with a team at the Winter Meetings in Lake Buena Vista, Fla, according to SI.com's Jon Heyman.
Heyman reported that Konerko and/or his agent, Craig Landis, are scheduled to meet with White Sox officials on Monday, and that the deal could be worth $13 million a season. The length is unclear, though with Konerko turning 35 next March, it doesn't figure to be more than three or four years.
Where's our 1 year warranty on a defective pitching product
So Jake has a detached and torn latissimus dorsi muscle. Obviously this will result in a season ending injury with the possibility of career threatening. What I want to know is where is the 1 year warranty? This is suppose to be the Rolls Royce of pitching machines - yet it appears we ended up with a Dodge. We didn't even get to the 100 inning break-in period before this lemon broke down. Perhaps this will teach Kenny to try to shop ebay and buy a second hand model that was only used on Sundays.
Sadly this all comes about when Jake seemed to have found his rhythm. But this was a known issue with him - scouts had identified the violent nature of his delivery as a potential for injury.
Here's to Hudson showing what he's made of. (And best of luck to Jake on hopefully recovering)
White Sox the fifth-lowest total in MLB tweets
In Major League Baseball, the Brewers (www.twitter.com/Brewers) have not discovered the tonic of the tweet. They have 692 followers, the fourth-lowest total in baseball. They are not super songbirds either. Their 215 tweets are tied with the Chicago White Sox for the fifth-lowest total.
The Philadelphia Phillies lead all of baseball with 464,525 followers, which places them far ahead of the second-place New York Yankees, who have 162,050 followers.
Sox May Be Finished With Offseason Shopping
Merkin reports that White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen seems satisfied to stand pat with the current composition of his roster, a decision that would leave Chicago without the everyday DH that seemed to be the club's top priority this winter.
White Sox Acquire Juan Pierre
The White Sox acquired Juan Pierre from the Dodgers for two minor league pitchers, John Ely and Jon Link.
Pierre will cost the White Sox $3 million in ‘10 and $5 milllion in ’11, with the Dodgers picking up the remaining $10.5 million of his $18.5 million.
If the Sox want to add competition, ... consider a member of their 2005 World Series ... team....Neal Cotts...
"I've heard the rumors," Beckham said... "I kind of hope I don't lead off. I've never lead off before."
Wise Declares Free Agency
Outfielder Dewayne Wise has declared free agency in lieu of accepting an outright assignment to Class AAA Charlotte.
Its here, Its here - in HD on Comcast
I just saw that I now have MLB in HD... yes glorious HD on Comcast channel 233. Why didn't anyone tell me? When did this happen? Here I've been watching MLB in low res all this time - felt like I should have rabbit ears on the set with foil, no remote, and a mechanical dial to change channels!
(You direct TV users don't need to brag how you've had it all along!)
Crede, Uribe file for free agency
White Sox third baseman Joe Crede and infielder Juan Uribe were two of 65 players who filed for free agency Thursday.
Ozzie Guillen shrugged his shoulders
Manager Ozzie Guillen shrugged his shoulders Saturday night after watching the latest shortcomings of the White Sox's offense.
"If one guy was struggling, then we can make some changes," Guillen said after the Sox were held to four hits by Scott Kazmir and five relievers in a 2-0 loss to Tampa Bay before a rare sellout crowd of 36,048 at Tropicana Field.
"But when everyone else does the same stuff, you really can't do too much. You just make up the lineup and hope those guys come out of it one day. They continue to struggle. We try to find a way how, and make different changes here and there, but they're not doing what they're supposed to do."
...
"It's a lot of stress for me and the hitting coach more than the pitchers," Guillen said calmly. "It drives Greg Walker crazy, also myself. I hate that because I'm the one who has to talk for them. I'm the one who has to say something about them not hitting. I come with the same answers every day.
"How many different answers am I going to give you guys and the fans? We're still waiting. It's hard to keep waiting. … We're not going to get those guys out of here. We're going to keep working hard, and maybe one day they hit the way they can." ...

From the Metsgeek - Winner/Losers (Sox)
Here's the summary of the AL as per the Metsgeek site. While you might, or might not agree, with his summary of the AL - it does make something to read in this very dull period of nothing going on. (Unless you want to keep reading about how the Yankees are, or are not, negotiating for Santana)
Remember this place
As the season fades - some memories for the old timers
Just thought this deserved its own area for a while. Truly brought back some old memories.
So as Harry used to say - Falstaff and the White Sox, a great combination.
This season - I'm Tired Rant
I'm tired of rally killing double plays.
I'm tired of seeing players drop balls.
I'm tired of seeing infielders play outfield.
I'm tired of seeing batters that can't bunt - bunt.
I'm tired of seeing power arms that can't find the plate.
I'm tired of seeing hits that can barely get out of the infield.
I'm tired of seeing power arms that can't find the plate find it.
I'm tired of seeing players being traded for single "A" ######.
I'm tired of smart remarks like saying look at the baseball card.
I'm tired of remarks about how this kid will be something special.
I'm tired of seeing runners in scoring position stand there for 3 outs.
I'm tired of outfielders that can't throw a ball farther then they can spit.
I'm tired of hearing the grinder analogy used for ever aspect of the game.
I'm tired of seeing a offensive lineup without a single batter hitting above .270
I'm tired of rotating relief in a game till we find someone that can blow the game.
I'm tired of seeing players that are past their prime by years being presented as quality.
I'm tired of knowing I can probably leave the game before the end - and not miss anything.
I'm tired of going to games knowing that it probably will be no better than the last one I saw.
I'm tired of seeing good starting pitching wasted because of no offense, no defense, or no relief.
I'm really tired of seeing what's on the field for the price on my tickets.
Boras' work with Crede - Genius
This dawned on me the other day. What Boras did with Crede is genius. Here is my take on it.
Boras negotiated the contract for '07. He knows Crede's back is questionable, doesn't allow him to get the surgery prior to the season because if Joe can't recover fully, his value is shot and the '08 contract value is gone. By starting '07 (with the hope he can get through it) he's setup to negotiate '08. If Joe starts '07, has to have the surgery, he then becomes an unknown for '08. Worst case is he takes a very slight drop in the new salary and squeezes another year out of the Sox (Sox won't just let him go unless its know he can't compete and he announces retirement). Best case he comes back ok and goes free agent '09.
Please - no more cast offs
Why do we keep discussing cast offs, marginal players with little upside, players that have history of injuries as replacements? The team is beyond patches for this season. Even if we do make some repairs to make the record somewhat respectable (on paper), it does nothing going forward. I'm not saying I have the answers, and some of you guys produce incredible stats and have great ideas. I'm only saying this team is in a rebuilding stage now. We need to assemble a combination of youth with some veteran experience. Unfortunately its going to cost - and I just don't mean money. We may have to give up some favorites to assemble something for next year and beyond. We may also have to become worse before better. I'd rather see the "worse" this year, then for the next several. Lastly we have to accept, as fans, we over-value our players compared to what other teams think of them. So those trades we'd love to have - we won't ever see.
All I'm saying is lets stay positive, ignore the cast offs such Bradley, and accept this season for what it is, but at the same time look at what can be done to make it more exciting and competitive for next year and beyond.
(Sorry - was starting to get bummed on some of the quick patch ideas - which would be fine if we were still competing this year - I'm just trying to see exciting ideas that are not lets get this guy he was just released or sent to the minors
