Evan Turner, Robbie Hummel and Talor Battle all made the USA World University Games team.... good stuff, and an opportunity for people to find about about the country's best kept secret.

Really hoping that this is the chance that will not only get him mention among the country's top players, but also to get him some additional experience on a much larger level. Also, great to see that the Big Ten has good presence on this team.

We obviously know that Maybin and Evans are gone... has anyone else heard news on Odrick and Bowman (since today is the deadline)? I honestly think these guys decisions hinge on LJSR's decision to goto Illinois or not, but that's me.

These guys could be first rounders in the '10 draft... this year, I don't think they go above early third round... but, seeing that Evans went and he is seen to be a mid-rounder, who knows what will happen.

Darryl Clark: officially eligible for 2009

I guess this is somewhat good news in a day that has been pretty horrible so far...

From Bob Flounders:

Penn State starting quarterback Daryll Clark will be eligible to play for the Nittany Lions in 2009.

According to PSU assistant athletic director Jeff Nelson, Clark, who began preseason practice with senior eligibility, is on schedule to graduate by December of 2008.

To qualify for 2009 playing status, Nelson stated earlier this year that Clark had to complete 80 percent of his credits needed to gradate by the summer of 2009.

Clark already has completed 85 perecent of his credit workload, Nelson said via email Wednesday morning.

Clark, who entered preseason practice with senior eligibility, now becomes a fourth-year junior. The telecommunications major plans to enroll in a second degree or graduate school in the 2009 spring semester.

After playing football at Ursuline High School in Ohio in 2004, Clark spent 2004-2005 at Kiski Prep. He was redshirted at PSU in 2005.

How will this impact Devlin?

Primetime Games in 2008

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State will face a trio of Big Ten foes in primetime during the 2008 season and the kick time has been set for the Nittany Lions' Homecoming game.

The Nittany Lions' contests versus Illinois (Sept. 27), at Wisconsin (Oct. 11) and at Ohio State (Oct. 25) have been set for primetime national TV exposure. In addition, Penn State's 89th Homecoming game, against Michigan on Oct. 18, will kick at 4:30 p.m. ET and air on ESPN or ESPN2.

The Big Ten opener with the Illini will kick at 8:00 p.m. ET from Beaver Stadium and air on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2. A determination on which network will air the game may not be made until 12 days before the game.

The Nittany Lions' contest at Wisconsin will kick at 7:00 p.m. CT / 8:00 p.m. ET and air on ESPN or ESPN2.

The clash with the Buckeyes also will kick at 8:00 p.m. ET and air on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2. The border rivals will be playing in primetime for the third time in the last four seasons. A determination on which network will air the game may not be made until 12 days before the game.

Interesting that the Illinois game is primetime instead of Michigan... maybe because the Illinois game will occur when those teams could both be undefeated, unlike the Michigan game where both teams could have at least one loss (I hope that's not the case).

Phil Taylor - Suspended

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Penn State's judicial affairs office has suspended defensive tackle Phil Taylor for much of the summer as part of sanctions for his role in a fight last fall.

Taylor recently accepted the sanctions, according to the university.

Taylor is barred from campus this summer through Aug. 15, including classes and extracurricular activities. He was allowed to finish spring semester classes.

Taylor was suspended from the football team in February. He would miss about a week of preseason practice if coach Joe Paterno allows him back on the squad.

Police have charged Taylor with simple assault and other charges stemming from a fight on campus last October in which authorities said Taylor and two other former players beat up a man during a dance.

A felony aggravated assault charge against Taylor was dismissed during a preliminary hearing last month.

I say keep him off for good Joe... like what was said by Mike the other day, just get rid of the cancer.
