Though I was not born in Florida, I was raised in the Tampa Bay area. I have always liked the Bucs, even before the Superbowl. I really dislike any other football team but I do respect them. Except the Cowboys. I am young but very mature. I also like long walks on the beach. ;P

Bucs Nation #5 Draft Pick is...

Well, no one yet but I am positive if I hear more people say something about a train or being expensive I might be inclined to leave Bucs Nation. No offense guys, Trent Richardson is not a train. He can not pull tons of cargo or your mom over thousands of miles. He is not the A-Train. Make up a new name for him or say Trent Richardson.

Second, the numbers from Patrick Peterson are 4 years for 19 million. A.J. Green was 4 years 19.69 million. For the first year, Morris Claiborne would cost the Tampa Bay Buccaneers about 3.5 million dollars the way each of the previous players contracts are set up. We are not breaking the bank for him. Trent Richardson would get THE SAME contract. If anything, I would argue Richardson doesn't deserve it as much.

Both people would be amazing with our team but do we need Blount and Richardson to split carries? Since Ronde is coming back and the signing or Eric Wright, do we really need another corner? Is Talib going to be on the team? If we could answer those three questions, none of you would be here.

What I can say is this, we will know Talib's fate BEFORE the draft. If he is jailed, I expect us to release or trade him. It happens in the NFL. Look at Plaxico Burress or Brandon Cox. Eric Wright got paid as a #2 Cornerback. He even stated in the introductions of our "Big Three" that he was overwhelmed last year. Ronde Barber is a leader for the defense but he isn't a mentor. Both Tiki and Ronde Barber have been called out for not mentoring. We screwed up with Derrick Brooks, that is why we let Ronde back. He is still good for a Nickel Cornerback. And we see more and more 3-5 Wide Receivers on the field than ever before. That why we shouldn't worry about overpaying(if you still think we will).

Hate to break it to you guys but Richardson is known for his strength not for his speed. Yeah, if we were still big back searching, I would think we would take him. But splitting carries with Blount is more like Turner and Rodgers of the Falcons or Stewart and Williams of the Panthers. We would need a fast and agile guy to compliment our bruiser. Look for a later round for that. I mean Danny Woodhead and Arian Foster went undrafted. We can look elsewhere for our compliment back.

I will leave you with this to ponder. How many rounds does a draft have and yet we are so focused on two people rather than the others we can get? Look at the other people we can get that doesn't include Trent Richardson or Morris Claiborne.

Bucs Nation NFL Cap Room Issues

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7677375/sources-dallas-cowboys-washington-redskins-lose-millions-cap-space

It's a lovely story about how the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys are losing space in the Cap because of front loading contracts. Because of that the Redskins will looks 36 Million in cap over the next two years and the Cowboys are going to lose 10 million. That should put a dent in the Redskins hope in getting Vincent Jackson.

Bucs Nation Carl Nicks

With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers going into Free Agency soon, the Buccaneers should be a little more active then they have been in the couple off-seasons. With that being said, many people have been talking about letting go of people and signing other people and I agree with most. However, I feel Carl Nicks would be a game changer on our offensive line and compared to everyone else that Buc Nation has talked about, he makes the most sense.

Last year, we were dead awful with our offensive line. Jeff Faine looked old and when Jeremy Zuttah moved over he played pretty good. The big problem was the Left Guard position. We had a number of guys who played okay football but not good enough to keep pressure off of Josh Freeman. I'm not talking about releasing anyone, although Faine would be an expensive back-up, but rather signing Carl Nicks to sure up our offensive line.

Donald Penn showed that he earned his big contract last off-season. David Joseph was great at what he does but he let a lot of people by him. Jeff Faine has been the same for two years now and getting hurt doesn't help that. Jeremy Zuttah was a good left guard and a pretty good center replacing Jeff Faine. And Jeremy Trueblood played spectacular compared to his previous years. Though we could upgrade our offensive line more, the more pressing need is left guard.

This upcoming year, we will be installing a new offensive playbook. We don't know who is going to good or bad but if we go back to 2008 when Jeremy Zuttah was playing for Rutgers, we can see why we drafted him. If he can play like that at center, we found our center for the next few years. Remember when Aaron Sears was our left guard? Our offensive line was pretty darn good. Let's return to that by signing Carl Nicks.

Carl Nicks was apart of the New Orleans Saints pass-happy offense. He rarely let people into the backfield to pressure Drew Brees and when he did, he came back the next play and whooped their butt. (Insert Gregg Williams joke here) If we can get that kind of protecting for Josh Freeman, he wouldn't throw interceptions like crazy. He wouldn't fumble often. And maybe our running offense will return to the running powerhouse it was with Alstott and Dunn.

We might have more pressing needs at Safety, Cornerback, Linebacker, or Wide Receiver but we can fix our offensive line without using a draft pick. Hell, maybe we can fix Cornerback with only using one draft pick. I do think we still need a Dunn to our Alstott(Blount) but he doesn't come in Trent Richardson. I'm not on the Claiborne rodeo either but I feel he would be better. A new #1 Wide Receiver, a shifty Running Back, and a Carl Nicks is all we need to fix our offense. Next year we might need a Tight End but Kellen Winslow Jr. will suffice for one more year.

Bucs Nation Playoffs?! Were talking about Playoffs?!

It is going to be tough to beat the 150 word requirement but here goes nothing. If Atlanta wins tomorrow, we could have to win next weekend to have a chance to get into the playoffs. But even if we win, We would need Green Bay or New York to lose. We are on the outside looking in.

If the Saints lose tomorrow, we would need these things to happen:

  • The Buccaneers win next weekend
  • Green Bay or Giants to lose.
  • If both of them win, we are out even with a win.
  • If we lose, we are out.

Alright, I didn't include Bryant because I feel he is going to drop like a rock and someone would have to trade up for him or he will fall out of the first round all together. I also think there is going to be a ton of trading and maybe a few moving back into the first round. I know there are a few ifs and buts but I think it's alright.

Since St. Louis traded their DT to the Redskins, I really think we would be able to trade for Haynesworth. A second or 3rd wouldn't hurt but Since we have so many 7th rounders, we could package something.

Bucs Nation A thought about the Draft

As I read around the internet, I see player getting shopped around left and right. All of them have been star players for their teams. McNabb, Holmes, and many more have contributed to their prior teams and are getting traded for second rounders or worst. Just how young do we have to be? Are we really that cheap or do we not want to have problem children on our team? Anyways, I just felt like creating those discussion.

To my point, I thought up another random idea. It has to deal with Albert Haynsworth. Shockingly, he is not mad at his deal anymore but he doesn't want to be a Nose Tackle in a 3-4 defense. As I read along in an article about him, it stated that the Redskins only want a 2nd rounder for him. Just think of that. McCoy/ Suh, A.H., Styles, and whoever is on the other side. This draft is filled with talented players but we could fix up our line in a year. Since there is no salary cap and still we are on the bottom of the list, I would have to say that would be a great deal. We would have our D-line and Linebackers set. Our safety's would be Jones and Jackson. Our Cb's would be Talib and Barber. We would still need to draft Barber's replacement but many people are high with the people we have. Our defense would be set other than the Left End and #1Cornerback.

Discuss!

Bucs Nation Draft: Trading Back

Alright gentlemen, I have been posting about the off-season since I joined up in December. I have talked about trading for Brandon Marshall, signing some key people, and now I am bring up a radical idea. I talked about trading with many teams from the Patriots to the Chiefs to move back in the draft. If you don't remember, It would take the Patriots their entire first three rounds to move up to our spot and it would take the Chiefs almost all of their first two rounds. Now, I will be talking about the Browns.

Watching the television tonight, I stumbled across SportsCenter. They were doing Cold Hard Facts and John Clayton was talking. He mentioned the Browns might be wanting to move ahead of the 'Skins to pick up Claussen and would pay greatly for it. At first, I didn't like the idea but I started to think. How much would it cost, using the Point Value Chart that everyone hates, for the Browns to move up?

For the people who are still reading this, It would be a lot. It would take their first three picks in the draft(#7,#38, and #71). That means, we move back four picks to pick up a second and third. Because the draft is filled with talent, I like the idea. Though some people are getting their guns ready to shoot me, I think we could still have a shot to pick up one of the DT's. This is how I see the Draft going if this were to happen. Bradford, Okung, Claussen, Bulaga, Berry, and Suh/McCoy. That leaves us with a choice. Should we trade back up to 5th and select a DT or hope that Suh or McCoy drop to us. We would have to trade the (#7, #71, 7th rounder for #5 and #140(roughly)) That would assure us a DT to stop the run, we would still have #38 to use in the second round, and about #140 in the 5th round.

I know most of you are foaming at the mouth but please give me your insight.

Bucs Nation Planning Ideas..

Now that we are within a month of the up and coming free agency, I would like to throw out some plans. They could be good, bad, or down right ugly but they are needed. Feel free to grade any idea and throw out some yourself so we can ruin them(HaHa). Anyways, lets get to the fun.

Bucs Nation Mock Drafts anyone?

Yeah, I know it is too early to tell but I came up with a little idea. I would like for everyone that reads this to make their own mock draft. Predict it, Edit it, Ect. Anyways, I'll go first.

1st. Eric Berry

I know everyone wants a DT but I think the Bucs can adress it with F/A. Ex. Wilfork. Berry can be the playstopper on defense like my second pick in the second round would be on offense.

2nd. Greg Hardy(Or another DE)

I know it is a little high but we are getting old. Hardy is well known for getting to the QB and I think he would be the next Gaines Adam! Only kidding, more like Simeon Rice.

2nd. Dexter McCluster

Most people think he will be a top 2nd round draft pick. I think he could be the Reggie Bush/Percy Havrin of this draft. He is undersized but so was Dunn. He is fast, durable, CAN PASS BLOCK, and plays wide reciever very well.

3rd Toby Gerhart

I know he is another running back but so was the A-train. I think we could make Gerhart into the next A-train. I also believe, Caddy and Ward will stay. But I think Askew and Graham will go. No disrespect.

4th-7th It is too unpredictable.

Bucs Nation New Draft Idea.

The draft is based on getting the best value and best fit for the system you run. Some times they don't equal out and you have to change your system. EX. Percy Harvin. Anyways, that is not my idea. My idea is leave the 1st round draft pick as is or trade it back a couple. Personally, I like Suh but I think Berry is the way to go. After that pick, we have two second rounders. With our 1st draft pick in the second round, we trade. Trade it for a future 1st round draft pick for next year. It happened last year and, though I don't remember the team that got it, the Panthers gave away a great first round draft pick. With that, we would still have nine draft choices for this draft. Possibly ten if we move back a bit in the first round. Any takers?

Bucs Nation From Coaches to Draft

In the middle of the season, I saw a glimpse of hope. We won against GB and almost had two combacks. Now, we are winning and in pretty decent form. I feel that we messed up with Jeff and Jim, including all ther people, and we didn't figure out "who" we were until now. I feel that Morris and Olsen should keep there jobs. They have finally found out a gameplan and it has worked. For the D-Cordinator spot, I think we could bring up someone, in the bucs staff, who knows the Tampa-2(Reborn) and will implement it like Morris is doing now. The special teams is doing a great job and try to keep them intact.

Most people rebuilt in the draft but Free Agents and Trades help a ton. I think we should trade OR release a lot of players on our roster. Names like: Michael Clayton(and his contract), Derrick Ward, Bryon Leftwich, Jeremy Trueblood, Chris Hovan, Ryan Sims, Sabby P. They are just a few off the top of my head. We should resign a lot of our player too. Names: Josh Johnson, Carnell Williams, Askew, Antonio B, D-line, Barrett Rudd, Ronde Barber, Jermaine Philips, Josh Bidwell, and Connor Barth. Free Agents are usually expensive but we need help. Positions like: WR, RT, DT, WLB, CB, S. The names don't have to be big names, just people who work.

For the draft, I know we can get only between the #3-#6 draft picks. I don't think Suh will be there so I think we should trade back. Either a First and second this year or a First and First(Next Year). Depending how far we fall, I think we should draft DT McCoy. He is BIG and can run like a monster. For our second draft picks, I think we should draft a S and WR. The names don't matter as long as they can do thier jobs. With our final draft picks, I think we should take some chances. People with "problems", coming back from injury, ect. Try and find that gem in the rough.
