I'm a local guy, having grown up in the Tampa Bay area. I graduated from the University of South Florida and currently reside and work in the Tampa Bay area. I'm an avid sports fan and my allegiances lie with the Rays, the Lightning, the 'Noles, and of course, with our Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I've supported the Bucs back into their Buccaneer Bruce days (which we get to re-visit this year) and have been a season ticket holder for the past 4 years.

New Nike NFL uniforms to be unveiled at approximately 11:00 AM

New Nike NFL uniforms to be unveiled at approximately 11:00 AM

Sorry for the double fanshot, but wanted to remind everyone that Nike's new uniforms drop today.

Stupid is as stupid does

Morris Claiborne got a 4 on the Wonderlic. Ouch. Now, before we make a huge deal out of this, realize he's a DB. We don't need rocket scientists and if high scores were that important, we'd have a league full of Ivy Leaguers, not SEC and ACC players.

Should the Bucs cut Talib?

More drama on top picks. Any Richardson or Claiborne talk in this thread will be banned. /sarcasm

Developing Story: Saints hit hard

Sean Payton suspended a year Gregg Williams suspended indefinitely. Ouch. More to come. Update # 1 Thanks to some Bucs Nation commenters more information has come in. Goodell has also taken...

Could Kalil be available at #5?

It all hinges on the Vikings, who are either playing shell games or may pass on Kalil.

Bucs sign Nicks - 5 years $47.5MM, $30MM guaranteed

First V-Jax, then Wright, now Nicks. Convinced the Glazers will spend? Great haul here and a huge upgrade to our OL.

Dolphins trade Brandon Marshall to Bears for two 3rd rounders.

This likely makes the Bucs the odds on favorite for V-Jax. News from PFT

As NFL teams continue to decide that running backs are fungible, there’s a belief in some circles that no running back, no matter how great a prospect, is worth a Top 10 pick. NFL Network’s Mike Mayock said after visiting Alabama’s pro day that he has no doubt from watching film of Richardson that Richardson is one of this year’s elite prospects, but not necessarily one of this year’s highest picks. "I think he’s a Top 10 talent," Mayock said of Richardson. "That doesn’t mean that I endorse taking him with a Top 10 pick. I have a problem with running backs, and the history of running backs in the last 6-7 years in this league, justifying a pick that high. The last Top 10 pick for a running back that has paid off in my opinion has been Adrian Peterson, who went No. 7 to the Vikings."

Mike Mayock via PFT This sums it up nicely I think. T-Rich is a talented player, but based on the position, teams are hesitant to take a RB that high.

Two hand touch for quarterbacks?

I hope this doesn't happen. If it does, we might as well change football to 7 on 7 drills. I'm all for taking away the late hit garbage, but protecting the quarterbacks any more than they already are will fundamentally change the game.

Michael Bennett has been given a first round tender

Goes to show the defensive line is important with Bennett liking being rotation with Bowers and Clayborn

Bucs tidbits from around the web: Blount gone? Royal coming to Tampa?

JBF has two different articles pointing out the above topics. One points to Eddie Royal coming here (meh) and the other points to Blount perhaps not sticking around in Tampa. Yikes.

How important is defense?

I posted this in another thread, but I think it's worth a look here. If you finish in the top 5 defenses, you are almost an 90% chance to make playoffs. If you finish outside the top 10 in rushing...

What Do We Know About Mario Manningham

It's the slow part of the offseason (i.e. no signings, trades, draft on the horizon), so why not address the hottest rumor that's out there. That would be the potential free agent signing of Mario...

It's 2002 All Over Again

Thank you Chip Kelly for becoming the latest "Yes he will, no he won't" contestant for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. For those who missed the last 12-16 hours, reports popped up during the NFC...

Report/Rumor: Fisher spotted at team hotel (per PFT)

This is nothing more than an unsubstantiated rumor, but I figure on the last week of the season we don't have much to root for, so speculate away!

A Late Christmas Gift?

Reports suggest that the Bucs could go after a high-profile coach.

How I Know It's Over for Morris

Some thoughts on Raheem Morris' post-game quotes

Morris may be retained with DC responsibilities given up.

File this under things we've already talked about. It's no secret our defense is beyond awful, but this might provide a place for people to vent on the chance that Raheem stays.

Morris' handling of Talib draws locker room criticism

Hm.... This was a topic of debate on Bucs Nation awhile back and was brought back up again when Price got sent home. Some people thought that was a good move, some thought it was inconsistent. The quote indicates that the players like Morris, but also think he doesn't understand you can't save everyone. It's no surprise bad vibes are leaking out of the locker room. Losing does that to an organization.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Issues

I'm not writing this as a member of the BN staff, but rather as a fan. I think we're all past the point of being disappointed and leaning more towards either apathy or anger. I've been a season...

Evaluation Time Over Last Five Weeks

With the playoffs out of sight, the Bucs need to use the remaining weeks to evaluate.

Blaming labor deal for struggles is coward's way out.

In a recent interview, Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Raheem Morris put some of the blame on the Bucs struggles early in the season on the labor deal.  He was not referring to the long layoff (at...
