Quentin Tarantino's new film Inglourious Basterds to be featured at UFC 100

Yahoo Movies is reporting here that Quentin Tarantino's  Inglorious Basterds will be getting special treatment at the upcoming UFC 100.

The studio is partnering with mixed-martial-arts organization the Ultimate Fighting Championship, which will feature the movie at the UFC 100, a large-scale pay-per-view event set for Saturday in Las Vegas. "Basterds" will get an animated billboard and placement inside the fighting ring, a.k.a. the "octagon," and a trailer will be shown to about 11,000 fans in attendance at Mandalay Bay.

I wonder if they are going to talk about it during the event or show the trailer to the PPV audience, it would be a waste of advertising to not be on the live PPV and it wouldn't be the first time the UFC wasted our time enlightened us about an upcoming movie!! Even if we would rather see a fight over an interview with  Brad Pitt, having him at your event is never a bad thing. Plus I'd get a big kick out of Dana getting Pitt into his Vlog because Brad Pitt is a funny dude.

Update: There is no mention in this article or anywhere else (I tried to google "Inglorious Basterds and UFC and nothing else came up) that anyone will be attending the event to plug the movie during the live telecast.34762_medium

Kongo Replaces Herring, Will Fight Cain Velasquez at UFC 99

Cheick-kongo_mediumAccording to MMAJunkie.com and confirmation from UFC.com, Cheick Kongo has been tapped to replace Heath Herring as Cain Velasquez's opponent at UFC 99:

Veteran heavyweight and once again rising contender Cheick Kongo (14-4-1 MMA, 7-2 UFC) will replace Heath Herring (28-14 MMA, 2-3 UFC) and fight Cain Velasquez (5-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) at next month's UFC 99 event.

Kongo posted the change on his Facebook early Wednesday morning, and the UFC has since made the adjustment official.

UFC 99 takes place on June 13 at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany.

Honestly, I think this a better fight as both fighters are driving towards title shots, and this definitely has title implications all over it. Herring is, of course, far more experienced than Kongo, but Kongo has been on a tear as of late and both of these guys would be looked at for a title shot if they win. I see Cain getting the better of the ground game, and Kongo getting the better of the standup game. This fight should stay on its feet and be a great heavyweight slugfest with a hell of a lot of skill behind it.
