Indy Cornrows Could Bird be our future owner?

I think we can all agree, Bird wants to stay, and that's a good thing. I was a big fan of him coaching for us and he has done a pretty good job of rebuilding the team and changing the culture here. I was glad to see him say he wants to be here long term but this is all up to Simon. I can't imagine any reason why Herb wouldn't want Bird here but I can understand the yearly handshake agreement that he makes, from a business standpoint. Bird made it pretty obvious that he wants to possibly retire in the FO in Indiana, or at least be a part of Indiana for years to come. Simon is also getting old, I am not sure if he has any children but what do you think of Bird possibly becoming our future owner of Indiana? Could it happen and would it be a good thing? Or would he be better as a GM only?

Sounds much older than a young college kid, he seems to be moving in the right direction.

Buc 'Em Fantasy League

Looking for more Buc fans to fill a fantasy league with. Can have up to 20 teams, or multiple leagues, either way. Let me know if interested, I usually don't do the draft till after the 3rd preseason(August 28) game to figure out starters and such, so between then and September 2 which is our final preseason game. Again, just let me know if your interested and ill shoot you a email. Go Bucs!

Editor's Note: The Bucs put the high level tender which requires a first and third round pick as compensation.

Buc Wild: Penn's agent goes on to say how unhappy they are that for the second year, he was tendered at the highest level.

I suppose I'd be upset too if I was missing out on the open market where I could demand 4-5 times what I'm currently receiving in salary.

Bucs Nation Creamsickle Power Activate!

Was reading the Answer Man on www.Buccaneers.com and noticed that the creamsickles were a huge hit this season (of course they were). Notably that we could wear them up to 2 times a year and as much as we want in the playoffs, so my question is this...

First off would you like to see them sport true awesomeness again? And how many times could your eyes bear it before the awesomeness blinded you? 1 time? 2 times? Through the entire playoffs?

I for one enjoyed seeing the creamsickles again and would hope that they have a "homecoming" game of sort every year. And honestly, who would really want to play against us in the playoffs if we had the creamsickle power? Which I really doubt it unless maybe we had home field advantage. I actually did purchase a creamsickle jersey this year just because of its awesomeness and look forward to wearing it with pride.

Bucs Nation McCardell the Bucs WR coach?

The Buccaneers and Redskins are considering Keenan McCardell for their receiver coaching vacancies, according to league sources.

McCardell, a longtime stalwart receiver, has had contact with both teams and likely will meet with them more during the Senior Bowl this week in Mobile, Ala.

McCardell, who spent time assisting the Giants during the 2009 preseason, has a strong reputation within the league, and his technique and preparation defined his 16-year NFL career. He originally was a 12th-round draft pick by the Redskins in 1991, but he became a star with the Jaguars (1996-2001) and later ended his career in Washington in 2007. He also played two seasons (2002-03) with the Bucs and spent time with the Browns (1992-95) and Chargers (2004-06).

The Redskins interviewed former Bucs receivers coach Richard Mann several weeks ago, but the job has remained vacant on new coach Mike Shanahan’s staff.

Got this from NFL.com story by Jason LaConfora.

Bucs Nation Rookie Contracts

We all have heard about the contract negotiations going on with the main focus towards the rookie contracts. I would have to agree that its not right and unfair for unproven rookies to come in hear and get a big contract that's sometimes 5-6 times what the veterans are making.

Bucs Nation Direction Tampa is heading

I have been watching the Bucs since the late '80s when they were still in the "Black n' Blue" division. Have been through alot of depressing seasons but also alot of winning seasons this last decade. So far i'd have to say that the best HC/GM duo has to be Dungy andMcKayso far, with alot of credit to Kiffin of course. Anyways my point was I am glad we let Gruden andBruceAllen go, not real fond of what they did in Tampa and I feel the players didnt respect him as a coach. Gruden was not one "to take responsibility" like Morris has this year. I feel we should have let him go a year or 2 ago instead of procrastinating rebuilding the Bucs back into a winning team. We all know Gruden was a offensive minded coach but he only was able to bring the offense above 22nd three times.. 2003 we were 10th, 2007 we were 18th, and last year we were 14th.

We all know that along with rebuilding comes a couple low winning seasons and it sure didnthelp withtheproblems we had at the beginning of the year with Jag andthen withBates. Not quite sure why Bates was brought in, he had a tough time in Denver prior to his Tampa experience. I for one wasn't happy with getting Leftwich and trading McCown to Jax, McCowndeserved to play after the time he put in withus. Since our bye week we are 3-6 which is due to the change of QB with the starting of Freeman, which the team has responded too and Morris taking over the defensive playcallingduties. I am excited to see Morris turn things around in Tampa and they team plays for him, unlike the fallout last season due to Kiffin's departure. Ive seen alot of people give Morris a hard time about doing "Chest bumps" and other young guy tendencies however the players have responded to him and im all for change, especially when its for the better. Morris andDominik did a good job with the last draft, the best we have had in awhile, they have all contributed to team since day one. I support Morris and Olsen and I for one think he needs at least another year maybe even two before we judge him.

One more thing real quick I would like to see Stroughter be the #2 WR, Clayton is a good blocker but thats about it anymore, he drops a lot of passes. True, it might change now that we have a real QB but Stroughter has proven he can handle the load in my opinion. Thanks for reading my ramblings, I'm new to the site and am curious to see other opinions about the team and the coaching direction. Go Bucs!
