The Ralphie Report Kiesau back to Cal-Berkeley as WR Coach

Eric Kiesau has returned to Cal in the position he held until Hawkins was hired as WR Coach according to ESPN's PAC 12 Blog.  At Cal, Kiesau recruited some big names such as DeSean Jackson and was part of Cal's most prolific passing era under Jeff Tedsford.  It's interesting to watch CU jockey with other PAC 12 programs for coaches.  Personally, I'm not at all surprised that Kiesau would return to Cal, and although I appreciated Kiesau's recruiting, his playcalling was woefully inconsistent and he was unable to get the most out of his receivers, excluding Scotty McKnight who I think would've performed in any system at any school due to his work ethic and toughness.  When I think of WRs in the Hawkins era, I think of Marques Simas and Josh Smith and their inability to take their game to the next level and some our recent recruits who have not taken off excluding Paul Richardson who had a big.  I'm pumped to see what Bobby Kennedy can bring to the table from a winning program (Texas is much stronger than Cal which is always overrated to me and as far as I know has never been a legitimate threat to win the PAC 12) that developed many top NFL picks.  Hopefully Kennedy can match Kiesau's west coast recruiting abilities and make some inroads into Texas and Louisiana that Kiesau could not.  See details here: http://www.contracostatimes.com/cal-bears/ci_16985311?nclick_check=1

Happy new year's fellow Buff fans!!!  Can't wait to watch our basketball team continue to develop this spring as I wait in great anticipation of Embree's return to Boulder.  I'm actually looking forward to this year's spring game for a change - should be interesting!

The Ralphie Report Former Seahawks Assistant Robert Prince Named Wide Receiver Coach at Colorado

Rumor has it that Dan Hawkins is bringing current Seattle Seahawks WR Coach Robert Prince to coach WRs at the University of Colorado.  Prince previously coached at Fort Lewis College and was on the Boise St. staff from 2001-2003.  He participated in Bill Walsh's minority coaches program before joining the Boise St. staff. He has coached roughly 7 or 8 seasons in the NFL with the 49ers, Chargers, Jaguars, Falcons and Seahawks.  Hopefully he brings an NFL prospective to the team and helps a solid group of WRs become the best of the Big 12.  Hopefully someone will be able to throw to them consistently!

Here is what Kyle Ringo had to say from the Boulder Daily Camera (update - irish1611):

Hawkins has hired Robert Prince as an assistant coach, sources confirmed to the Camera on Thursday. The school has not announced the hiring because all the necessary paperwork is not complete, but Prince has visited campus in Boulder.

Prince is well-traveled, most recently spending last season with the Seattle Seahawks in the National Football League. He coached wide receivers for the Jacksonville Jaguars for two years before that and broke into the NFL as a full-time assistant with the Atlanta Falcons from 2004 to 2006, where he crossed paths with new CU secondary coach Ashley Ambrose.

Prince, who is married with three children, is familiar with Colorado. He served as an assistant coach for two seasons at Fort Lewis College in the mid-1990s.

He previously served as an assistant coach under Hawkins for three seasons at Boise State (2001-03). Prince is the fourth member of the CU staff to have served under Hawkins in Boise, joining defensive coordinator Ron Collins, special teams and tight ends coach Kent Riddle and defensive line coach Romeo Bandison, all of whom has been at CU the past four seasons.
