Another Offensive Lineman; Tackle Andre Ramsey goes to the Practice Squad
He's a 6-5, 322-pounder from Ball State that entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Seahawks following the 2009 draft.
Stupar moves up to 53-man; Schouman goes to IR
The Bills promoted TE Jonathan Stupar to the 53-man roster and placed TE Derek Schouman on Injured Reserve.
Week One Predictions
The 2009 Football Season officially kicks off tonight at 8:30pm est. I, for one, am very excited for this season. In fact, one might even say "jubilated." Two weeks after the draft I made a bet with my boss, that the Bills would win more than 8 games this season. Yeah yeah, this preseason and, in particular, the past week have made me cringe a little. Either way the bet is still on and I am already trying to figure out ways to make a little money from him during the season to put a dent in what I may very well owe. With that in mind...these are my week one predictions.
Bucs fire Offensive Coordinator
Just because the Bucs did it 10 days before their first games doesn't mean we should.
Tight End Competition
I was listening to THE WEASE SHOW on the radio this morning driving into work (not a fan of Wease, but he is broadcasting from the Bills camp this week) and Derek Fine was his guest. Although I didn't have time to, or the ability, to jot down exactly what Fine said I will do my best to paraphrase.

Bills Last Playoff Win Season
Yes Folks! I'm at it again with extremely premature hopefuls.
What good is making the playoffs if you can't even win a game when you get there. Granted it would be sweet to have our hopes raised slightly that we have a chance to make it to the big dance. But, really, when was the last time the Bills had a team good enough to win a playoff game?!
The answer: 1995!!
Before I get started I will say this, by no means does achieving these statistics mean the bills will make it to the playoffs and win a game. But I can hope...as I have been doing since 1995.
Starting out with the offense lets have a look at the stat leaders.
Jim Kelly
I would say based on Trents production, these numbers are certainly acheivable; provided he stays healthy of course. In fact I am going to go out on a limb and say he surpasses these numbers (and before I get the remark - I don't mean the interception column).
Thurman Thomas
Even if Marshawn misses 3 games (which is probably what is going to happen) I still believe he can pull these figures. He is a pounding machine and hopefully with this new O-Line he will be able to hit the middle even harder for consistant 6-8 yard gainers.
Darick Holmes
I'm not quite sure if Freddy will reach this by himself (I know he could do it as an athelete, but just don't think he will be given the opportunity). I do think, however that he and Mr. Rhodes will surpass this in combined stats. I like our running game this year.
Top 3 in Receiving
I think Evans and Owens will surpass these numbers by themselves. I do need to note that there were 3 other players with around 300 yards a piece in receiving. Jim did a nice job of spreading things around which Trent is capable of as well. The question is can he do that while keeping his main two happy.
Lets have a look at the defensive and their leading contributor.
Bryce Paup
I don't...uhh...have to much to say about how our defense compares to this one. We have been a longs ways off for quite a few years, and who was the last person to have 17.5 sacks in a season for the Bills? Bryce Paup. When was the last time the bills had two players combined for more than 20 sacks. Bruce and Bryce in 97'.
In closing I will say this; the Bills need play makers. They tried to address that this offseason and in the draft. In addition, some of the younger players are gaining more experience and becoming more familiar with the team. Personally I think the offense will be better than the 1995 Bills team. It will be up to the defense to make more stops and create more turnovers. Simple to say, hopefully it is as easy to execute.

Tom Brady & Trent Edwards Comparison
Yeah Yeah...I am actually doing this even though you really shouldn't be able to draw conclusions at the point...ah well.
First off, I will start by saying that I am not a fan of Mr. Brady at all. Perhaps it is due to the fact he is on that PATS team I despise so very much. Or maybe it is because I think he is a little over rated (The PATS back-up won 11 games last year - are you serious). That team has excellent coaching, and I think if he was on any other team he would turd out, like you will see from Cassel this year. Regardless of those feelings he does perform like a machine and works extremely well in Belli's system which makes him viewed by many as one of the best QB's in the league.
Second note that one must keep in mind regarding Brady and his years with the PATS...as a team...they have had far more talent and better coaching than the Bills since Brady's arrival.
Now...lets take a look at those numbers; starting with Tommy Bean Town's first full year.
The PATS went 11-5 during the regular season and on to win the super bowl this year...as you all are well aware.
Moving on; lets have a look at Trent E-Dizzle's figures in his first full year.
The Bill's of course had a 7-9 season and didn't make it to the post season. Although they had quite a bit of talent, we are well aware there were a multitude of positions that were lacking.
When comparing the two players, I think the numbers look pretty good. Obviously, there is a lack of touchdowns in the passing game; he did have 3 rushing though to bring the total to 14. Which is one really good game away from matching Brady. Keep in mind Trent hardly played in the Arizona game last year, and he already only appeared in 14 games compared to Brady's total in 2001 of 15 games.
The Bottom Line:
As many of you have stated; this is a no excuses season for Trent. and providing he doesn't get hurt it will be a BIG season; with him more than doubling his TD production. He has the targets and he does have the skills to make in the NFL. Now, lets hope for some better play calling and a nice healthy season. I want a "Tom Brady" of our own. Minus the toolishness of course.
