Valentine Not In Running For Marlins Job

The Marlins' front office and ownership continues today to prove itself the biggest joke in baseball, having apparently decided against hiring Bobby Valentine as the next Marlins' manager.  While I felt the timing of this move was poor anyway, the carousel of emotions attached to the team and the season at this point are bizarre.  There are currently no indications as to why Valentine won't be hired, despite the reported tentative agreement the two sides reached on Friday, but if I were a betting man I'd say Loria wouldn't pony up the dough necessary to hire his old friend.  It's going to be hard enough to ever find a quality skipper willing to work in such a hostile environment, especially when one with an in cannot even get hired.

This season is in the gutter, and it's only getting worse.  By hiring a bad or inexperienced manager, we begin to take future seasons with us.  It's a sad day to be a Marlins fan.
