Is Buike Expendable and Has He Reached His Peak?

I've been kinda thinking about this for the last couple days. One reason in particular is that people (GSoMers) have been mentioning him in potential trades and that tells me that some think he is expendable. I would think a player becomes expendable when they are no longer usefull, have reached their peak (and its not a very high one), or the return on losing that player would be greater than keeping him.

I think that buike has a lot of usefulness on this team. Hes young, athletic, experienced, and has good ball IQ. In terms of skills, he has pretty good handles, can drive, shoot and play some defense. Just looking at his stats from 2006, his numbers have gone up every year (I think he was 4th in 3pt% last year). But I guess the question is how good will he be in the future?

Personally, I think buike will top out in about 2yrs. Im going to go out on a limb and say his stats will be somewhere along the lines of 18ppg, 5-6rpg, 2.5apg, 1.5bpg. I think these are really decent numbers and will still be "useful" to the dubs for a while if he can sustain it. I guess this is also contingent on how much action he'll be seeing next season. I would expect him to get at least 25 min/game. If maggs get hurt, which history tells us that it isnt unprecedented, buike should be seeing alot of action to get his numbers up.

In terms of the return we could get for buike (alone or in combination with other players) I think it will be borderline to somewhat high. But, I think it would benifit us to keep him out of trades unless it is absolutely certain that the return will be very good. I believe in keeping our young core together and letting them play because of the potential they have. Like everyone else, the only players I'd get rid of are maggs, wright and belli. But I feel for wright and belli as they've been hurt, so pretty much just maggs.

Anthony Randolph a future all star?

First off I hate watching the playoffs cause the warriors arent playing and there is no team I want to root for. In an attempt to stave off some of the bordem, i've been watching clips of randolph on youtube and my tivo of the last few games.

As everyone knows this guy has talent. He runs the floor, can hit the mid range jumper, handles, can pass, and even put on some weight compared to the beginning of the season. With time I think he can be an all star, he just needs to develop in 2 areas that I can think off.

1) Post up game

2) Defense

Hes got pretty good foot work as it is and can bang around to make the shot but still needs to be a bigger bully down low. He needs to practice more post moves and get his footwork down completely. I'd like to see him develop into a KG or bosh. When he commands a double team constantly from the defense, we'll know he's come along.

Only reason I say defense is because I've seen him get owned by a couple people at the rim. Yeah, he's mr shotblocker alongside ronny, but again, he gets bullied down low. Still, I would take him over wright at the 4.

Hes young/athletic and has the makings of an all star. If he could brush up in those 2 areas of his game....maybe even develop a 3pt shot!!??? yeah, we'd have a real diamond in the rough. He's still growing too...I wouldnt be suprised if he was 6-11 or somewhere close to 7ft as he gets older.

Sure its probably too early to tell but one can only imagine....Chime in!

Odom...is he worth it, if so, can we get him and how?

I think someone did a post on this a couple months ago, but it had to do with giving up wright, belinelli and harrington for odom. It seems that now, trade rumors for odom are starting to come up again....

From this article it seems like LA is looking for a point gaurd. We NEED a solid PF. I like odom because hes versatile...he can run, shoot the 3, post up, has a decent mid range ect. But the problem with him is that hes been on and off like a light switch and on a team like ours, we need consistency night in and night out. I think that odom could definitely help this team with the skill set he has, he just needs to be consistent.

Now, Im no trade guru so Im asking you guys. Do you think he is worth getting? how could we land him? We are overloaded with gaurds, but if they want point gaurds, i would depart with nelson and williams and MAYBE CJ. I like cj but if belinelli steps up, then maybe we could stand to lose him. I dont know how this works out financially... Plus, I dont know why LA would do this.

I would include a shooting gaurd, but LA has no need for one. The only other thing I can think of is a draft pick. The way we are playing now, we would probably be giving up a high pick which in my opinion, would not be worth it to get odom (pg's + draft pick = NO!). Otherwise, we would need to get other teams involved.

I know this post is premature seeing as the dubs wont see the clips till mid november but fanposts have been a little slow...plus I've been thinking about this since baron left for the d-bag clips. I dont think anyone has posted anything like this but if its been discussed already, my apologies.

I think, with some certainty that Baron will get pwned (or at least I would want him to). Too many times I've seen guards blow by baron. He has no lateral speed and its something Monta can exploit. I remember Baron in some post game interview last season saying that Monta "frustrates" him in practice. Monta is way to quick for him and can pull up anywhere within 20ft.

On the other hand, baron might get the best of monta. Monta's defense is still something left to be desired. Despite barons bumb knee and age, he is still pretty quick and if he get the step on someone its pretty much curtains. Yes baron can pull up and also has 3pt range (which in my opinion has always been streaky). Can monta defend the perimeter? Not certain... my gut says no, but I spend alot of time being mesmerized by his offense rather than paying attention to his defense. Lets no forget about barons post up skills. He was the only post threat we had last season and from what I can remember, he was pretty good at it. Im pretty sure monta cant defend the post against bulky pgs.

I suppose the arguement could be made for either guy humiliating the other in a highlight reel. But I'm also wondering whether we will see much baron v. monta. Im assuming baron will guard monta but will monta gaurd baron...probably not, I could see stack taking on the responsibilty.

My fantasy: monta breaks his ankles with the crossover...stops and looks at baron while he is trying to collect himself on the ground...then busts in his face!!!!! ROTFL, LMAO
