"The Clippers plan to sign Dajuan Summers of Maine in D-League, league source tells Y! Sports (from Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA)" Sam Amick from USA Today expands slightly: "The Los Angeles...
1 Year Deal for Vet Minimum. Love this pickup.
Sounds like he wont return to Team USA.
"Fascinating Memp-Clips game right now. Sterling knows VDN lost team but overruled firing him yesterday. Wanted to see 1 more game in person."
"Heard today that Vinny Del Negro is on super-thin, could-go-any-day ice. A blowout loss in OKC tonight won't exactly help." Then he qualifies it with this: "2 things going in VDN's favor: 1) Sterling is too cheap to pay for 2 coaches, and 2) can't hire an interim coach for a playoff contender." I hope this is true and would gladly trade a blowout loss for VDN being gone. I hope Sterling will open up his wallet. Not really sure what Simmons' second point means though.
WojYahooNBA The Hornets have started to inform teams that they're sending Chris Paul to the Lakers for Bynum and Odom, league sources tell Y! Sports.
WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski Tayshaun Prince will sign a four year, $27 million dollar deal to stay with Detroit, league sources tell Y! Sports. sam_amick Sam Amick Source says Golden State is expected to make a hard run at the Clippers' DeAndre Jordan if and when New York wins out on Chandler. "CP3 would also consider signing extension w/LA Clippers. But Clips' 1st choice is Dwight Howard, sources say...." "Clippers will do whatever it takes - outside of trading Blake Griffin - to get Dwight, sources say." Very interesting. Id rather have CP3 then Dwight though. First world problems.
This has gotta be good news
According to Sport24.gr, Zalgiris Kaunas reached an agreement with Chris Kaman for one year with NBA out when the lockout ends. Sportando
The part about the Clippers is at the bottom of the page. Interesting that AFA didn't attend but both Thompkins and Leslie were there.
Its a quote near the bottom "Best rumor of day: Some how, some way, Detroit's Tayshaun Prince will end up with the Clippers next season." Dont know how legit it is but interesting nonetheless
Some interesting things in there about the latest proposal that was rejected by the players.
Its insider but here' the money quote "Shooting guard: Eric Gordon, Clippers (plus-4.71). It's no surprise the Clippers tanked when Gordon went out of the lineup, as his scoring ability on the wing rose to an elite level. Gordon scored 24 points per 40 minutes with a 57.0 TS%; it's extremely difficult to score so often and yet misfire so rarely. He boosted his free throw rate and made the rest of his game a bit less one-dimensional, though there is still plenty of room to grow on that count. Moreover, he actually struggled a bit on 3s (a career-low 36.7 percent); with his stroke, that's likely to rebound quickly." Interesting..
If you can call it that
While the Clippers are starting to put some things together, there is a real effort taking place behind the scenes in LA to get Blake some help. Eric Gordon is really coming into his own, and Al-Farouq Aminu is really coming along in his rookie year, but for the Clippers to make a real push into the Western Conference playoffs they may need more than is on the roster and the Clips have been active in exploring what's out there. Normally the Clippers around this time of year are selling off pieces and preparing for the inevitable lottery run. This year they are more than optimistic that Blake Griffin can power them to a playoff berth, and they are active in talking with other teams. Detroit's Tayshaun Prince has been mentioned to the Clippers in NBA circles, the Clips have tried to acquire Prince on several occasions. There has been talk regarding Sacramento Francisco Garcia and the Clippers remain a dark-horse in the "he who shall not be named today" sweepstake. As things stand today the Clippers are seven games out of the eighth seed in the West, but have won two straight and seven of their last ten games. The Clips are not sitting idle on their short term success, they are being active in the trade market, it will be interesting to see how aggressive they get as the February 24th trade deadline approaches.
"All good news from the Clipper practice today. All 14-players are healthy and ready for the opening of the season. Baron Davis is in the best shape he's been in for years and years. He, Blake Griffin, Chris Kaman and Eric Gordon all joined us for a Tip-off luncheon at the Training Center that included brief comments from NBA Commissioner David Stern." This was Ralph's status.. contradicting what was said about Craig and Warren being out.
Guess its down to Collins, Blakely and Warren for the last 2 spots, unless they choose to keep 15.
Denver declined, Also says that we are on Melo's list of teams he would resign with.
Money quote: "Of course, there’s still the issue of whether Griffin is completely healthy yet. Del Negro put Griffin at about 75 percent, and said the Clippers have no plans to hurry him along." He goes on to say that he should be ready to start by opening night. This info goes against the notion that Griffin has been at 100% for two weeks. Im not sure what to believe.
