Thanks Hyatt for keeping everyone updated on the ass-whooping I'm putting on all of you.

Can one of you help me (and maybe others) out with this question?

What has Macha done historically as Manager when it comes to stealing and bunting? Does he avoid it all together? Do it as seldom as Yost did? Or are we gonna see the 2nd coming of the LA Angels this season?

I just want to know what type of offense we're gonna have this year. Please don't tell me it's a "the only way we score is by having someone hit a HR" type of offense again this year!

Thanks in advance for your help!

We NEED to have a BCB fantasy league. Only those that actively post (or actively lurk...lol).

Someone gonna set this up? I'm in like Slim... I'm feeling rather CUBsy...Like it's my year, again. Finally the year I win it all. Finally believing that my millions in expenses will get a return in a shiny trophy.
I don't know if it's been posted before...from the Hardball Times about Prince & Gagne.

Sorry if it's been posted before. I find it interesting.

...Prince seems destined to be a star, but his HR projection is what???

...And good to hear their projections on Gagne.

Quote: Hardball Times

Prince Fielder is a monster
"As good as we think he's going to be, Jay Bruce isn't even close to being as good as Fielder. Let's start with Fielder's projected .301/.397/.587 line--one that places him in the top-30 in batting average, top-20 in on-base percentage, and top-10 in slugging. Overall, only David Ortiz, Ryan Howard, Barry Bonds, Alex Rodriguez and Albert Pujols have a higher projected OPS.

Then let's add in Fielder's ridiculous projected improvement--we foresee a 1.060 OPS by 2010, a number we project for no one this season. But that's not all.

In an essay in the back of the Season Preview, I develop a system for projecting a player's career statistics and figuring his odds of getting to any given milestone based on that prediction. Well, despite having just two full seasons under his belt, Fielder projects to hit 530 career home runs and garners a 37 percent chance at breaking Barry Bonds' career home run record. He actually bests Alex Rodriguez's odds, despite having 438 fewer home runs under his belt. Now that's impressive."

Eric Gagne will come back
"Gagne saved 16 games in 17 chances with Texas last season, posting a 2.16 ERA along the way. He was then traded to the Red Sox, and instead of shoring up their bullpen, Gagne fell apart, posting a 6.75 ERA. The Brewers gave Gagne a $10 million contract in the offseason, hoping that they will get the Texas version. What do our projections say?

We think the Brewers will get what they paid for. We project that Gagne will post a 3.35 ERA, and help Milwaukee win the National League Central by one game."

I'm cruising through CBS, reading fantasy baseball stuff and noticed this as their "projected lineup."

Interesting lineup. I know that Yost talked about not having Braun in front of Fielder anymore... So that's wrong... But how about Hart in the 5 hole?

No. Player Position
NOT Breaking News

Not Breaking News...But it's an interesting read.

Pitchers and Catchers report in 16 days, 17 hours, 34 minutes, 6 seconds...5 seconds...4 seconds...

I'm posting the text because I can't figure out how to link the letter to Al on. Al's Rambings

Friday, January 25, 2008

(1/25/2008 05:32:00 PM) - Al

Al,

I love your blog and check it everyday. I was at the Bullfrogs dinner in Green Bay where Doug Melvin spoke at.

Melvin didn't have any earth shattering news. Here are some of the things he said.....

About Carlos V in the bullpen, Melvin said he liked Carlos V in the bullpen, and felt the bullpen took a hit last year when Carlos was pulled out of the bullpen. (what he failed to say was Carlos was struggling badly the second half in the bullpen when he was pulled from the bullpen)

Bill Hall will not play CF during the first month of the season (Gwynn, Gross and/or Kapler will man CF will Cameron is out the first month)

said they will wait until the end of the season to determine what to do with Sheets as far as resigning him or letting him go. Mentioned there are other variables to look at such as other players reaching arbitration and their salaries go from $500,000 to $2-$3 million in one year.

Said Ted Simmons will be able to handle some of the media responsibilities that Yost had.....basically saying when the media wants to hang out in Ned's office before a game, Simmons will be able to pull them out of there and tell them lots of baseball stories.

Said Kendall will make the pitching staff better because he works with pitchers and calls the game to their strenths....specifically mentioned that Suppan, Capuano and Bush like to work with a catcher so he calls a game to their strenths and the hitter's weaknesses. (I took this to mean that Estrada didn't work well with the pitchers). That Kendall and the pitchers will be watching film of opposing hitters to find weaknesses. Pointed out the A's pitching staff ERA went up a run after Kendall was traded to the Cubs. Kendall is also a hitter who works the count.

Really likes the bullpen and the hard-throwers in the pen. Pointed out Turnbow was second in the league in Holds last year.

At least twice he mentioned that fans should come out to watch this special group of young players play, because once they get closer to free agency and reach free agency, he can't guarantee what will happen. Tough decisions will have to be made. (My interpretation....."We can't resign all of these players and will lose some in free agency.")

If I think of any other things, I'll let you know.

Thanks.

Bert

Sorry fellas... I've been in the midst of moving back to Madison (my hometown) from Brew City. Yes, I'm out of there, but still have my 20-game season tickets for 2008.

I see I've missed a lot:

Capellan was traded again.

Mets are going to trade Estrada for an enchilada.

There will be no LaCrosse day at Miller Park in 2008.

And us signing Scott Rolen... Ugh!

Ha ha ha ha...

It's good to be back. And nice to see 'Stache was waiting for me to get my Internet back before he started making his moves.

Now on to Bedard, Andruw, Miguel Tejada, and... Scot Shields!
