Last night's game online?
Anyone know where I can find last night's game online?
I don't have Versus.
Legein traded to the Flyers
From Puck-rakers:
The Blue Jackets have acquired defenseman Michael Ratchuk from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for winger Stefan Legein. Ratchuk, 21, has been assigned to minor-league Syracuse.
Ratchuk (5-foot-11, 186 pounds) has one assist in five games this season for the Adirondack Phantoms of the AHL. A second-round pick in the 2006 NHL draft, Ratchuk has 6 goals and 15 assists in 85 career AHL games.
Legein, 22, has 2 goals and an assist this season in six games with the Crunch. His time with the Blue Jackets will best be remembered for his decision to sit out the first half of last season, saying he had lost his passion for the game. The Blue Jackets second-round pick in 2007, Legein has 3 goals and an assist in 32 career AHL games.
For me, Legein became expendable with his antics two summers ago, and with the emergence of Derek Dorsett as the gritty 3-4 line RW of the future.
Howson gets his M'Anton
From Porty at the Puck-rakers.
It's not the Anton many of us were thinking of... but it looks like a good move. Does he now become the 7th Dman?
Vermette signs 5-year extension
Tom Reed of the Dispatch reports:
The Blue Jackets have signed forward Antoine Vermette to a 5-year contract extension, the Dispatch has learned. He will earn $3.75 million per season making the total package $18.75 million. Vermette still has one season remaining on his current deal which will pay him $2.76 million.
Babchuk on his way to Columbus?
From HendricksHockey.com:
According to the Sporting News, GM Jim Rutherford stated in a interview that he has teams interested in Anton Babchuk and intends to trade him away to one of three teams that appear interested. One team has the inside track, but Rutherford didn't reveal the identity of any of the teams. He is wants the situation resolved by the opening of training camp.
UPDATE : The Hockey Insider reports that there are several teams pursuing him but the Devils and Jackets are leading the way right now to land Babchuk from Carolina.
Erhoff Traded to Vancouver
Acquiring Ehrhoff just went out the window. Any thoughts on another puck-moving Dman we may go after, or do we wait?
Jason Williams signs with Red Wings
I must say I am a bit disappointed. After his recent comments in the media about how much he liked Columbus, I was thinking he might take a smaller contract to stay in the Union Blue. Even with our glut of forwards, I think he would fit nice at RW on the 3rd or 4th line.
Now he is going to the damn Red Wings. I hope that he doesn't come back to haunt us...
What is Chicago doing?
I'm sure we have all noticed the Blackhawks spending money like crazy this offseason (Dave Bolland, Marian Hossa, John Madden, Kris Versteeg, Tomas Kopecky and Cam Barker). By most accounts they are done.
But have they left any money for next year? They seem to be in a precarious position for next season when they need to lock-up Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews with big raises, presumably keep Duncan Keith and even possibly Andrew Ladd and sign a backup goalie.
They don't have any significant contracts expiring and the cap is expected to be lower than this year's. How do they get it done? Who do they move?
