Taylor's father, Fred, was an All-American at Florida in the mid-90s.

Kelvin Taylor, who surpassed Emmitt Smith as the all-time leading rusher in the state of Florida this past season with 9,698 yards, said Florida is where he feels best.

"They just have a great program and great coaching staff. I feel so comfortable around their coaching staff," Taylor said. "It's closer to home and they have great tradition."

Gainesville may be closer to the Belle Glade than Tallahasee, but having a RB depth chart of Wilder, Freeman, and Pender likely played a role with his decision. Florida now has 8 commits for the 2013 class...7 in the ESPN 150.

The TBSC is happy to provide its members with the opportunity to travel directly from Tampa to the stadium for the Champs Sports Bowl. Cost will be $40 round trip ($20 for kids under 13). The bus parking in Orlando is on Colyer Street just SE of the Stadium — it’s on a neighborhood street with no sidewalks so we can not guarantee tailgating will be allowed.

Please email Max at Max@tampanoles.com to let us know how many riders and which pickup location no later than Tuesday December 27 if possible.

Two pick up locations: Clearwater and Tampa.

Jacobs blossomed into one of the better JUCO defensive tackles in the country during his time at EMCC. Florida State didn't have room for another defensive tackle, and that put Jacobs back on the market. He committed to Tennessee in July, but openly flirted with other programs during the process. In addition to Gator fans, Mississippi State fans also believed they had a shot at Jacobs.

This also means Tennessee's top JUCO targets both switched commitments at the last minute. Dooley is pretty much done after this season. So get ready for the "Stoops to Tennessee" talk in 2012. We may want to pluck Justin Wilcox from this staff ASAP

ESPN is reporting WV will join the Big XII. The conference will maintain its round robin format meaning West Virginia regular season will be Texas, Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Kansas State in conferece with Pitt as its out of conference game. That leaves only 2 free games for the Mountaineers and FSU is slated to be one of them.

Will WV keeps us on the schedule to boost its national championship hopes or opt out?

If they do, FSU will then have 2 free games to schedule cupcakes which we need since the 2012 season features Clemson, Florida, Miami, Virginia Tech, and South Florida.

This sucks for him. He is a good kid, great athlete and should be able to bounce back next year. But if we are going with a youth movement its time to get these Noles running "Wild" and " Free" if you know what I mean.

Although, having something resembling an O Line could help....

In case you haven't guessed it, he is the older brother of Mark Stoops. Mark was also his former DC at Arizona. Could Mark leaving resulted in the Wildcat defense's decline?

Does anyone know of any pregame parties going on for the Friday/Saturday before the Oklahoma game? We'll be coming off US19 from Tampa and trust me after going through "God's Country", we're going to need to some serious partying.

I heard the Tennesse Strip was planning on a block party before kickoff. Is this true? Any places having a AYCD/AYCE special that Saturday? Some places in Tampa will charge $25 for buffets before Bucs game. I didn't know if Tally was having the same? Any other places? Varsity? Hooters? A.J.'s?

EA Sports has annouced its NCAA Football 12 edition will feature a new option under Custom Conference: Conference Expansion. You can expand a conference up to 16 teams in the Dynasty Mode by simply picking-and-choosing which teams you do or do not want in a particular league.

ESPN had piece similar to this a while back with al the MEGA-PAC 16 discussions. From the blogs, its seems most prescreeners have created the MEGA PAC 16 in Dynast Mode (PAC 10 + Utah, Colorado, Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State) and found the results very interesting.

Also, you can change Bowl Conference affliation as well. So, you can make the MWC have an automatic qualifer OR move the ACC Championship game to the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, the Orange Bowl in Miami or the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

So what will you do? Add Pitt, Syracuse, Rutgers and West Virginia to the ACC OR move FSU, Clemson, Texas A&M and Oklahoma to the SEC?

"A bunch of us coaches felt so strongly about it that we would be willing to pay it -- 70 guys, 300 bucks a game," Spurrier said. "That's only $21,000 a game. I doubt it will get passed, but as coaches in the SEC, we make all the money -- as do universities, television -- and we need to get more to our players.

Spurrier, Alabama's Nick Saban, Florida's Will Muschamp, LSU's Les Miles, Mississippi's Houston Nutt, Mississippi State's Dan Mullen and Tennessee's Derek Dooley signed the proposal.

This isnt a bad idea; but what happens when the next coach says "OBC only pays $300? Ill pay you $500"?. He does make some interesting points though.

A native of Youngstown, Ohio, Stoops is part of college football’s modern-day version of a royal coaching family. A decade ago, it was all about the Bowdens, now, the most recognized surname in coaching is Stoops. Along with Mark, brothers Bob and Mike are head coaches, leading the Oklahoma Sooners and Arizona Wildcats, respectively. Mark was on Mike’s staff before arriving in Tallahassee last fall. With his brothers already in the head-coaching ranks, it may be about time for Mark Stoops to make that step to. Again, not saying he will, if offered the Ohio State job. Just saying, these are compelling reasons for him to leave.

Also, earlier today, Joe Schad reported that Mark Stoops is a more "realistic" candidate for the job because he is an Ohio native and Ohio State graduate.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Former Ohio State wide receiver Ray Small told the school's student newspaper that he sold Big Ten championship rings and other memorabilia for cash and got special car deals as an athlete during his playing days.

"We have apartments, car notes," he said. "So you got things like that and you look around and you're like, 'Well I got (four) of them, I can sell one or two and get some money to pay this rent.' "

Who gets the Death Penalty first: the Auburn CHEETAH$ or the Ohio State.......well you can guess where that one was headed.

Regardless, Rivals.com‘s Auburn-specific website is reporting that the running back has enrolled at the university and will play for the defending national champions after sitting out this season. After satisfying NCAA transfer rules, Blakely will have four years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2012.

Apparently, either Florida lifted the stipulation saying he could not transfer to a SEC school or he will pay his own way.

According to Division II football writer and scout Josh Buchanan, Jenkins will be transferring to D-II North Alabama and is only waiting on NCAA approval to make it official.

Looks like FSU 2 just got a badass corner.

Best spring game atmosphere: Florida State. The Seminoles had a record crowd of 53,818, which was the third most nationally behind Alabama and Nebraska. The weekend featured a downtown block party with several bands, including country artist Jake Owen, and there were fireworks Friday. A barbecue cookoff contest began Saturday morning before the game, and at halftime former FSU greats played a flag football game.

Post Spring ACC Rankings

1. Florida State

2. Virgnia Tech

3. North Carolina

6. Miami

9. Duke?!?!?!?!? (Cutcliffe is a great coach and its finally showing).

Florida drops to #24. Miami/ UCF/USF unranked.

Quick points:

The Seminoles might also [be starting to reap] the rewards of back-to-back nationally ranked recruiting classes.

FSU's conference schedule is favorable -- it doesn't play Georgia Tech, North Carolina or Virginia Tech during the regular season -- and a Sept. 17 home game against Oklahoma might determine whether it's a legitimate BCS title contender.

Wilson has been contacted by multiple unidentified SEC schools and hopes to play for a BCS automatic qualifying team outside the ACC, the source said. Among the SEC schools that could be interested in a transfer quarterback are South Carolina and Auburn.

How does this affect FSU? He would be eligible to play next season...when the Noles play the Bulls at Raymond James (aka the Mons Venus Bowl).

Gators #23
Miami Unranked.

Jesse Palmer - With the Noles returning 18 starters, winning the ACC Atlantic, beating the SEC East Champs, and knocking off the Gators for the first time in 6 years, expectations are running high in Tallahassee.

Premium content, but the first free post should be a clear indicator how good this one was:

Paula (Gainesville): What makes you so confident FSU can be a BCS title contender with an unproven QB like EJ Manuel? Haven't we been down this road before with Chris Rix, Xavier Lee and Fabian Walker?

Adding Villanova to the football mix never seemed to make much sense because that would do nothing to enhance its reputation. And the Big East needs all the help it can get in that department, beyond adding TCU for 2012. Featuring a school [ like Villanova]that has a small fan base and would be playing in an off-campus soccer stadium clearly started giving some of the Big East presidents second thoughts.

If UCF joins a BCS A-Q, would it have a serious impact on FSU recruiting?

Link is from the Lost Lettermen. Good to see the kid having fun before he enrolls. Plus, its the MASTERS!!!

From "the other website"
FSU signee Nick O'Leary (the nation's No. 1 tight end prospect for the 2011 class) caddied for his grandfather, Jack Nicklaus, for the par-3 tournament at The Masters on Wednesday. O'Leary took a swing himself on the ninth hole, got the ball over a large body of water but it landed left of the green.
