Is Deaderick better than Worthington?
Is the current 7th round pick, Brandon Deaderick better for a 3-4 DE
than the recently cut from Steeler practice squad, fellow 7th rounder,
Doug Worthington? Worthington is bigger at, 6-5, 292, and was more
versatile while at The Ohio State University. Deaderick seems more out
of shape throughout training camp and does not provide any special traits
of the typical Belichick 34 DE. He's not stout, a good run stuffer, or penetrate
on the 5-technique. Deaderick was seemingly drafted because of the Saban
connection that Belichick likes. Just wondering what folks think
about these two prospects.
Jay Richardson - Must sign!
If Ty Warren was the run-stuffing DE that is lost for the year,
then why wouldn't the Patriots sign Richardson to a 2-year deal?
This would allow next year's draft to focus on RB and LT in the 1st round
and OLB and WR in the 2nd round.
Richardson would not be expected to post big sack numbers, but
he has performed fairly well as a classic 3-4 DE run stuffer.
Trade for Calais Campbell?
Would like to know what people think of this idea -
Trade for DE Calais Campbell, Arizona Cardinals for
either a 2011 first or 2011 second round draft pick.
Possibly enter Logan Mankins into the deal
Campbell is more developed than ANY DE prospect for
2011, and he would be more valuable long-term for the Pats.
I don't think the Pats can continue either this season or next
with a band-aid approach to the defensive line. It's always been
a strength. Give the Cards Mankins + 2nd round pick for
Campbell and 4th round pick, provided Mankins would sign
long-term deal. OR 1st / 2nd round pick for Campbell. Agree or disagree?
