Danny Please Make some moves! Ideas!!
Well, I dont like our chances this year and it looks like we are all thinking about the future of the celtics. We should make any moves that could create some assets for this team and not just let everyone walk. Everyone should be on the block to try making this team BETTER!! I like the Idea of trying to get young players with good contracts and/or draft picks for our vets. Another benifit it trading our vets is that we will actually let the young guys get some minutes and see if the fit in out future. I dont know about you, but i hate to see dooling playing over more or not that kg and bass are out that jajuan or steisma are not getting the majority of the minutes. lets see if these guys can actually play. Anyways here are some players that I would not mind getting on the cheap that would not hurt the cap and will still allow us to get max contract deals in the off season(via dwight or deron).
Trade Ideas.
Paul Milsap- 2ys/8mi
Derrick Favors- 3yr/4.4mil
Anderson Varajao- 4yr/7.7mil
Paul George- 3yr-2.2mil
Lou Williams- 2yr-5.1mil
Evan Turner- 3yr-4.9mil
Andrea Bargnani- 4yr-9.2mi
Damar Derozen- 2yr-2.6mil
Derrick Williams- 4yr-4.6mil
wesley Matthews- 4yr- 6mil
Demarcus Cousins- 3yr-3.6mil
Not sure which players here we could get and I am sure I am missing more players, but these are the type of players we should be attempting to trade for along with draft picks and get some assets on this team.
Even the idea of trading Rondo for Gasol would be bad if we could get a good point guard like mo williams or even get deron in the off season.
Celtics cant win a championship with this roster. Move must be made. Ideas!!!
The window for this roster to win a championship is up. A trade needs to be made for this team before the deadline that will keep this team relavant and not go into straight rebuilding mode. I was for trading Rondo for Chris Paul or for another superstar if possible, but more importantly right now is to trade either KG or Ray Allen(to a lesser extent) to get a player or 2 to build with. Even though we have big money for this upcoming free agency there are only a couple of players that are actually work max money and I dont count on them coming here. I came up with for possible suiters that would be willing to take take there expiring contracts for players the would be willing to get rid off:
Atlanta:
Kg and bradley for josh smith and hinrich
- Josh smith is a better defender that Kg at this point and could run the floor with rondo. Hinrich play the backup 1 and 2 and can shoot as well as play decent defense. They consider his one of the best defenders against Wade.
Philly:
Andre Iguodola and Nocioni for KG
-Iguodola is a dynamic player that can also run with rondo and could cover guys like Lebron. Nocioni would probably be anemstied. Would need to make another move to get a decent big guy to replace KG.
Utah:
Paul Millsap and raja bell for Ray Allen and throw in
-Paul Millsap bring the tuffness we are lacking. He has been productive with his minutes the last couple of yrs. Raja Bell could start at the 2 as the defensive guy and three point shooter. pietris could back him up and play good minutes as well.
Golden State:
Monta Eliis and Beidrins for KG and bradley
-Ellis could be the scorer we are missing at the end of games. He is a top scorer in the league and could make a good backcourt parter to Rondo for yrs to come. Beidrins can be used as a big body that could rebound and protect the basket. I would even consider David Lee if we couldnt get Ellis because even though he is overpaid he is way more productive that KG at this point of his career.
Memphis:
Bass plus throw in if needed for Mayo
-Mayo would be a great scorer of the bench this yr and could be out replacement for Ray. Bass if no more that an average undersized big.
So the Lockout is over, Whats next for the Celtics???
I have been on the idea that this roster is too old to win the championship ever since we lost to the lakers in the finals. Kg just doesnt looks the same with age and something got to give if we want to stay in contention. The heat are a team we wont be able to beat and the knicks are bound to be better. We are stuck financially so we wont be able to get much thru free agency. Will on mid-level guy really do the trick? So what to the celtics do??
Here a few possible options that could transform this roster to be a contender and also a few other ideas that could just inject this team with some much needed youth. But, I think we do need to go in one of these directions.
1.) Stay put and sign the right guys.
-Resign big baby(very important if we stay put)
He did play terrible down the stretch but, we did see what he can do for this team and also there are not many free agents to choose from to replace his size. I think he should see more minutes that KG in the regular season. KG is the key and without his offense and D we have no chance. He always gets beat up and run down by the all star break. Maybe even start BBD and keep KG's minutes in the 20's.
-Sign mle guard that can shoot he rock/possibly a guy that count close out the games at point
Jason Richardson, Jamal crawford, jj barea, stevenson,
-Sign bigs with tuffness rather that athletic with Potential
-Get a couple big guys like Jeff Foster,Kurt Thomas, Reggie Evans, Chuck Hayes.
2.) Make a Trade that could keep us contenders but also help transition to the future.
- Sign and trade BBD or Jeff Green(add rondo to the mix if it means a super star)
If BBD has trade value then maybe it is a good time to move on. I was on the idea of trading rondo and BBD(plus fill in to make salarys work) for Chris Paul. Chris Paul is a beast. It shows in the playoffs or big games. Also would help attract Dwight Howard as a free agent.
-Trade KG or Ray Allen!
Dont know exactly what we can get, but last year there were talks of multiple teams that had interest in them to possible put them over the top. I do remember talks of possibly josh smith, (iguodola or monta ellis)(to late for these guys). I do like Josh smith, but he is overpaid. He is one of the better defenders out there and could even cover lebron athletically. But having rondo that would be 2 guys that cant shoot the ball. Either way if we could get a player that could help and also maybe stick long term it is something to think about. Dont give them away, but if we can get the right guy I wouldnt think twice.
-Trade Rondo for Westbrook
As much as I love Rondo he is not a super star and with the big 3 aging he needs to more of a scorer. Last year at the end games we really struggled it this would be a good fit.
FEEDBACK PLEASE!!
TRADE MUST BE MADE
I think the biggest reason we werent more competative against miami is the bad play of Baby. He was a spark in the past and someone that would give KG long rests when needed. His terrible player put more pressure on KG to produce. I do also believe that BBD time here in boston in done. Like ainge said he did have his own agenda and wants to be more of a starter than a role player. (Some people think they are better than they really are). So replacing him is the first think we should do in this offseason. I have 2 player in mind that could be had.
Paul Milsap and Josh smith.
Trade Ideas:
Paul Milsap and Raja Bell for Jeff Green and BBD sign and trade
Josh smith for Jeff Green and BBD.
Chris Paul and Trevor Ariza for Rondo, Jeff Green, BBD and future first round pick.
TRADE IS NECASSARY.
I am a fan of the big 4, but we cant win or open the window for this team without a trade. Paul Pierce will never be traded so that takes him out of the discussion and KGs value is not high right now. So it comes down to either ray ray or rondo. Only team that would want ray is a contender that is one piece away. There wont be much we can get in return. Therefore I think the player that we need to trade is Rondo. I understand he is the future and all that but him being our core future isnt all that bright. He is a great point guard but needs players around him with talent to utilize his skill(passing the rock). If we could trade him along with sign and trade jeff green (who is a west coast type player and will not work in the tough eastern conference) along with a couple of first round picks we should we able to get Chris Paul or Dwight Howard or another Star that is not happy/going to be traded. If we could get chris paul and emeka okafor I think it would be great. Okafor,KG, Pierce,Ray,Paul would be a great starting five and with guys like delonte, baby and maybe sign a guy like battier or ta and i think this team would be ready for another run. This would also improve out future is we are able to resign Chris Paul. He is by far a superior player/talent that Rondo. He would be a 2nd option on a team where rondo is more of a facilitator and 4th option on offense.
Lets make is happen. Banner 18.
The celtics bench needs energy! Von Wafer please...
I am really disappointed in the bench and really starting to miss guys like tony allen and nate robinson. I know that some of those players do piss you off at times but they also have the ability to win up a game in the playoffs. The guy that may be able to help this yr is von wafer. Earlier this year he went through a stretch where we played very good until he got hurt. I really think he will help lift this 2nd unit because he is not relucatant to take the open shot and can make things happen of the dribble and with his athleticism. If we get him some minutes and gets some confidence in his shot we can be the nate robinson type intensity off the bench. We all know Jeff Green doesnt have that energy.
The bench we have now is not doing much and if they dont I think we have other capable guys on the bench. At one point in game 2 vs the knicks carmelo we getting offense rebound after offensive rebound and a few of them turned out to be 3 point plays. This was when baby was the 5 and jeff green was the 4. That line up is just to small. Play Krstic a little more with the 2nd unit for his size and rebounding. The big 3 built up the lead a few times just to see the bench lose it.
I did expence more from delonte but he just hasnt found his game since the injury. Baby and Jeff green are just both playing bad and need to get back to the basics. Baby needs to rebound and play inside for offensive rebounds and 2nd chance points. Never mind shooting jumpers and having him on iso's. Thats a joke. Just Green really hasnt found his nitch with this team but he needs to just play harder and tuffer and it his game should come to him.
Last off i think Paul Pierce should get minutes with the 2nd unit rather than Ray Allen. Pierce can create his own shot and if he gets double teams he make make better decisions.
Lets Go Celts, Time to step it up. Banner 18 on the way.
JEFF GREEN...SOFT???
I am a fan of Jeff Greens game. He has range and size and intangibles that you want in a player. He is defintley talented but just needs to bring the tuffness to his game. I know he is playing a lot of 4 now and that he may still be adjusting to the system, but i dont see him impacting games as much as he should with the talent he has. He has been playing about 24 minute game. He is playing SOFT. He is not a good rebounder for his size and doesnt even look to attemt to get his hand dirty in the paint. He just chills in the perimiter. I think he is a lazy defender too. He has the size and athletism to be a great defender but doesnt move his feet well against 3s and is just not tuff enough against the 4. He needs to get moved aggressive on both sides of the ball. EXPECTIALLY IN THE PLAYOFFS. When i saw his play for OKC a few times a saw him take the ball to the basket and put it down. Now he is settling for jumpers and looks like he is just not going hard. Basketball is a mans sport and the tuffest team usually wins(look at game seven of the finals/ we just got out muscled). He just doesnt show me the passion. I miss watching Tony Allen off the Boston bench bring it every possesion even though he mad some bondhead moves. To replace Perk and to be loved in Boston he better start taking some lessons from KG of how to bring it and play with passion. Im sick of all the finese. We need to go back to when we were feared and the oppenent always left the game bruised and banged up. JEFF GREEN ITS TIME TO MAN UP- WE NEED YOU TO WIN A TITLE.
trade idea
I see that Jeff Green is on the block. Perkins for green works financally and okc wants a big man in return. Not sure if okc would do it but i think the celtics would have to consider. Green could fill the backup three role and could also help build for the future. I would love to see him runnning up and down with rondo. I know Perk is a very solid rebounder and defender and I like his tuffness but if he is going to get overpaid this offseason maybe we should get rid of him now. I think is shaq is healthy/ jo and semih will be fine backups. If that doesnt work out we can always talk Sheed out of retirement. What do you guys think??? After all we did draft him.
a move has to be made in the offseason
First off, we already made a mistake by not making a trade before the deadline. I would be open to trade anyone on the team in the right deal. Either kg or paul pierce need to be traded. I would like to resign ray allen next year and would pay him up to $10 a yr for the next two years if needed. But either way we need to trade one of the other big contracts to have some flexibility. I hope by now everyone sees that its not simply only us getting healthy but they age has kicked it and the big three are no longer the big three.
KG's intensity and defense is the reason we won the championship, but he has definetly regressed since his injury last year. Im afraid this is the KG will will have the next few years. He is still valuable but not the presence on offense or defense. Therefore we will not be able to move him and will large contract.
The only other option is one that a lot of celtics fans dont want to hear. Paul Pierce i believe needs to be moved. I dont believe in all this loyalty. This is a business and when its time to cut ties then do it. If we traded him in the deadline for say iguadola and dalembert we would be in a much better situation this year. We should have tried to trade pierce and perk for amare. Or even this off-season sign and trade bosh for piece and perk. We need to start thinking about the future and that means get younger players that can work with rondo. If we stay loyal to pierce we will not win for at least another 5 years.
As for offseason resigning. I would like to keep nate for the right price and sign finley to veteran minimum. Other than that let ta,marquis, scal and sheldon walk. Marquis cant move him feet on defense. He is a terrible perimidor defender. I dont mind sheldon on the glass but doc just wont play him.
Either way something needs to be done in order to keep this team as a contender and not go back to rebuilding mode.
dont like that the patriots have been quiet in free agency
I know that free agency has only began about a week ago and we have resign many pretty good player that fit this system, but i think the patriots need to get some playmakers on both ends to contend for the title. our offense and defense both have holes. We need veterans to fill them. Would rather trade some of those picks for proven players. Our defense is young enough.
Offense- We definetly need another receiver with welker out for a while. I say we go after steve breaston to fill that void. Running back is another concern. I liked the idea of getting thomas jones. to late on that one. maroney has to go and fred taylor and sammy morris cant last a whole season. Tight end is the last concern. I know we dont use our te to receive much and i am glad we got ride of watson, but who is going to replace him. I guess we will fill that in the draft.
Defense- We did resign wilfork and bodden which was the biggest thing for us to do. But is that enough. I dont think so. Our defense might have been 10th ranked last year but they didnt impress me. And the didnt impress belichek either. He didnt have the confident in them to make a stop late in the game for a win. We went for in or 4th down in a couple cases were in the past we would relie on our defense. We all know that adalius thomas doesnt fit this team for either trade him or cut him if need be. Our defense is to young and need a couple of veterans to mess with the youth. Our rookies from last year didnt look very good last year and either need like to develop or just arent that good. We had no pass rusher last yr and that has not change yet this off season. I know that julius peppers was to expensive but we didnt even go after kampman or vanden bosch. I would love to see either on on the outside for us. And on top of that we let the jets get cromartie for a 3rd round pick. I know he has off field problems but he brings in on the field. He was all pro just a couple of years back and is a great man corner. I think we needed a playmaker like him along with bodden. We have no depth at corner and they got beat many times last year over and over again. Last we need a veteran safety in the back. Since we last rodney out defense and leadership went way down. I do like meriweather but he always go after the big play or hit. He got beat multiple times again the saints in zone coverage. And if its about salary i would rather have not signed wilfork and fill multiple holes that we have. Wilfork is a beast but he can do it alone and is strong again the run. We are gicing quarterbacks to much time and they are killing us.
So overall i know we are good team but do we have enough to win it in all. I say no as of right now. Other teams seem to be getting better and we are just sticking with the same team the got wipped by baltimore last year.
TRADE PIERCE!
I know that everyone loves pierce because he had been here from day one but remember this is a business. If everyone is thinking like me that we cant win with this team we have to trade either pierce of KG. the problem is that KG is untradeable because of his contract for 2 1/2 more yrs and his injury. He will not be the player he was in 08. So i guess we need to trade pierce. If we trade pierce and perk i believe we can get someone like Bosh. I would do that if we can sign him to an extention. Even if we cant get someone like Bosh then we can get someone at about 11 million a year like iguodola or ellis along with an expiring contract for pierce. That way we would have rondo, (iguodola or ellis) kg and perk. We would also have money to sign another max contract. if you put even rudy gay in that line up we get alot younger and more athletic. We need to start thinking about players that can run with rondo.
TYRUS THOMAS
What exactly are the bulls looking for in return for Tyrus Thomas? I know he is on the block and i think he could help rebound and play defense with his athleticism. I think he may still have a bright future even though he hasnt found his niche yet in this league. If we can trade for him and nate robinson we may be able to make a run this season. I would rather have kirk hinrich and jamison than robinson and thomas but we cant get either one without trading ray allen.
Only was I think we should trade ray allen is for iguodala/ellis or if we can make a run at amare by packaging perk or someone else.
The age an unathleticism of the big three is showing more every game and we will not condend if we stand put.
NEW TRADE RUMOR
I am hearing they we offered ray and perk for monta ellis and beidrins. I like both ellis and beidrins but i dont think ellis will mess good with rondo. Having 2 small guards could be a nightmare on the defensive end and ellis is a guard that likes to create on his own. I also like beidrins but i dont think he is an upgrade over perkins. perkins id a better defender and there numbers a close even on the offensive end. Also biedrins has a 5 yr - 9 million a year contract. I think we can do better than that for ray and perk.
On the other end i think that perk should be on the block to. I am a fun of perk but he is what he is. He is solid and looks better that he is playing next to kg and other future hall of famers on this team. Next yr will be his last yr under contract and he will be looking for a deal like biedrins if not more (Something i am not willing to pay for him). I would love to get amare and barbosa for them or bosh. Kg does not look like he will even get to where he was and without a big that is versitile and superstar caliber you will not win in this league.
Danny try to get our future big now with stoudimire or bosh. Trade for them and sign them long term.
WHAT SHOULD WE DO NOW THAT CARON BUTLER IS GOING TO DALLAS?
I think if we traded for butler, jamison and haywood that trade would be the most benificial for this team. Now that we cant get butler we need to go in a new direction. I dont want jamison's bad contract because we wont win with him this year and he is 34 years old and has 2 more years on his expensive contract.
I am a fan of monta ellis but i dont think he would mesh well with rondo. We should go back to trying to get martin or iguadala. I do think martin can fit right into ray allens role but i still would rather have iguadolas athleticism. Something we havent had in a while. I did like the trade rumor of iguadola and lou williams. Lou williams is a solid young guy that has a good contract (4 yrs, 5million per). Even if we have to take Dalembert contract he could provide some defense and rebounding that we cleary need. Dalembert and pierce would both be big expiring contracts next year that we could look to trade again.
We should get the best available young guy we could get because if we dont, we would be stuck with the same team through next year, I dont know about you guys but i am starting to lose faith that we have a championship caliber team.
ray allen for kirk hinrich and john salmons
is it only me or does everyone else hate this trade. i would like to get our hands on hinrich but only for expiring contracts and say big baby, not for ray allen. i would only trade ray allen if we have a potential all star back say iguadola, ellis or kevin martin. otherwise that would be a bad move.
ray allen may be old be he is still a great shooter and helps space the floor and is capable of hitting a big shot. he may be a little of right now but every shooter goes through this at one point in the season. he will get his shot back.
overall i would like to see what we can do without trading ray allen for the rest of the year, but right now is the only time to get a quality player back in return so i say if we can get iguadola, ellis or kevin martin plus a second player that could help i say do it. they all have good contracts for the next 4 or 5 years.
please comment.
good trade idea
i agree it may be time to trade ray allen. how about ray allen for mike miller and antwain jamison. even throw in first round pick if needed. start miller at the 2 and jamison will be the man off the bench. mike miller come of the books at the end of the yr and jamison has 2 more yrs at 11 million which i think he is work. he has been playing well and looks determined.
RONDO RESIGNING A MISTAKE
NOT THAT I AM NOT A FAN OF RONDO BUT IF WE HAD A POINT GUARD THAT COULD SHOOT IT WOULD OPEN THE FLOOR FOR EVERYONE. HE AT LEAST NEEDS TO TAKE THE SHOT WHEN HE IS LEFT OPEN. THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR SPACING AND THE THE MIDDLE IS ALWAYS CONGUESTED. RONDO IS A SOLID POINT GUARD BUT HE WILL NEVER BE A SUPERSTAR.
ALSO IF WE DIDNT RESIGN HIM WE COULD GO AFTER A MAX CONTRACT THIS OFF SEASON. JOE JOHNSON OR DWADE WOULD BE GREAT NEXT TO PAUL, KG AND PERK. VETERAN POINT GUARDS COUPLE BE HAD PRETTY CHEAP. THIS TEAM IS GETTING OLD AND GETTING OLD FAST. WE NEED TO GET YOUNGER WHILE KEEPING THIS TEAM STILL CHAMPIONSHIP CALIBER. WE CANT EVEN COMPETE WITH ATLANTAS YOUTH AND ATHLETICISM.
ON TOP OF THAT WE HAVE ALWAYS HAD A HARD TIME TRYING TO SIGN GOOD FREE AGENTS TO PAY IN BOSTON BECAUSE IT IS NOT AN ATTRACTIVE PLACE TO PLAY. WE NEED TO DECIDE IF WE HAVE A SHOT AT THE CHAMPIONSHIP THIS YR OTHERWIZE WE NEED TO TRADE RAY ALLEN FOR SAY KEVIN MARTIN OR NOCIONI OR MONTA ELLIS AND RAJA BELL. I WOULD PREFER THE 2ND ONE BUT NOT SURE HOW MONTA ELLIS AND RONDO COULD COEXIST.
