Sit Stafford, Start Stanton.... Not Culpepper

http://www4.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Detroit+<a class='sbn-auto-link' href=

Says Killer Kowalski...

That same philosophy should be attached to the quarterback and that's why Stanton, a former second-round draft choice, should get the nod over Daunte Culpepper, who is not expected to be in Detroit next season.

And the Lions cannot use the crutch that Culpepper gives them a better chance to win. Signing Ty Law would give them a better chance to win, too, but there are other issues involved here.

Stanton finally got some good coaching under offensive coordinator Scott Linehan and quarterback coach Jeff Horton. It's time to see how much he has learned and what he is capable of.

From a fan's perspective... I'd much rather watch Stanton on Sunday than Culpepper.   I want to see if Stanton can be the reliable backup that I think he can be.   Sorry Culpepper, thanks for your services, but the Lion's philosophy of "letting the young guys" play has to hold true.   And to be honest, I don't have ANY faith that Culpepper would do any better than Stanton.  He certainly didn't show it in the 2 games he played this year.

What say you?   Start the Young, or go with the Older veteran who probably won't be here next year?

Scapegoats a plenty as season end draws near

I'll admit, I've been a part of it... we all have....

This player sucks, this player blows, draft this position and move this player here, we need this position, we need that position..... BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.

If we would all stop for a second, Mayhew and Schwartz have shown us the way.  Stafford, Pettigrew, Delmas, all rated #1 respectively at their positions have all made an immediate impact on this team.  Bottom line, Talent.

So as the draft gets closer and the fanposts get clogged with mocks... I put it to the POD'ers to STOP with the 'needs' and the 'position' talk when describing why you picked so and so for this or that round... because at the end of the day only one thing should matter... Talent, no matter the position.  The Lions cannot afford to do anything else.

(and to quiet the smart-asses, I would agree that one could scratch certain positions off the #1 pick list no matter the talent... like TE and QB...K&P)

Its also time we give the current players a break.... the current talent can only handle so much...as is blatantly obvious.

Personally, I could care less who the Lions draft as long as the talent pool goes up.

So there's my pre-mock draft rant... flame on... and I'll leave you with this...

Hats off to Cunningham's Defense

They kept and put the Lions in a position to win and most importantly, they're showing consistancy.(whever that is)

Who knew Cunnningham was a good enough cook to make chicken soup from chicken shit?  This Defense is exciting and fun to watch... plus they kept Seattle out of the endzone when the offense was having issues.

Great Job Defense!!!  Keep up the good work...

What kind of roll could Jeff Fisher play?

After he gets fired? ......Just kidding.... well....... he IS the longest tenured coach in the league, but can that save him from not only a 0-5 record, but a 59-0 route?

Would Schwartz/Mayhew hire Fisher as a consultant...  assistant coach?

Just a fun hypothetical discussion to get us away from the fact that Culpepper is the worst QB on the face of this earth. the normal discussion/arguments.  So sit back, relax and tell us all where ol'jeffy would fit in the Detroit Lions organization.

Killer is going insane?

You have to laugh.... Tom is having a hell of a time with the mind games being thrown from Schwartz and Stafford.  Now he's not even sure Stafford practiced, but just showed up for the media portion(which is a genius move by Schwartz) ....  Good stuff.  Here's the LINK

Maybe Stafford did practice in the 11-on-11 drills on Wednesday and this is just an off-the-wall conspiracy theory. Maybe.

I love the secrecy, diversions, and last minute reports.

Times are a changing.

Stafford gives Detroit the best chance to win

Killer delivers the honest truth on the Lion's QB situation...

That is the unmistakable conclusion you have to make after watching Daunte Culpepper's performance in Detroit's 28-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Culpepper, who started because Stafford has a minor knee injury, made a lot of good plays in the game, but he also made some ill-advised decisions.

LINKY

Also adds on the possibility of Culpepper starting this week...

Culpepper has always been capable of making big plays, but it's his inability to avoid the poor decisions that have hurt him in recent years.

I like Culpepper, But I'm with Tom... He needs to step up and be the veteran he's supposed to be.

Flame away,

Rant on!

One fo my biggest pet peevs involves the NFL and the BIG TEN or any other money grubbing league that pisses on their fans.   What is up with blacking out the fans?  What is up with pinching the last dollar out of us that love the game?

Yes, the MSU/UM game can only be seen on the Big Ten Network.  A network that everyone has to pay for... or don't watch the game.  What a joke!   As if advertising dollars aren't enough to feed this money making scheme, some schmuck had the idea of sucking more revenue out of a game where the players arent even paid.  A game between Universities that are heavily funded by our tax payer dollars.  I am so pissed right now that I can't even get my thoughts in order....

And don't even get me started on the NFL Network... a channel that claims to be 'for the fan'... but only the fans that can afford it.

What a joke.

My rant ends here as I feel the need to drop some 'f' bombs!
