There goes the Olic plan for this summer. I wonder what this means with regards to the likelihood of Freddy or Flaco transfering in the summer window.

As you can see if you follow the link, there are three options:

1) Royal looking 34 with King Felix.
2) 34 with a crown on top (same crown as the old t-shirt)
3) Original Kings Court design

Currently the original design is winning. I would prefer to get a new shirt next time I go so any help voting for 1 or 2 would be great.

Sounder At Heart Why the Sounders need to change the venue for the USOC Semi

If the Sounders' primary goal is to win their semi-final match, they should host the August 30th match at Starfire.

If the Sounders' primary goal is to make sure that all matches between MLS squads played on the XBOX Pitch are sellouts, they should host the USOC semi-final at Starfire.

If the Sounders' primary goal is to highlight the importance of the United States Open Cub, respect the history of the tournament, and raise the visibility of the tournament, the game needs to be played in front of 30,000+ not 4,500.

Hosting the USOC semi-final at Starfire is like hosting the a NCAA Final 4 game at a Division III gym instead of a full arena. It's like allowing an NFL team to host a playoff game at a high school to have a better home-field advantage.

If the Sounders want to treat the US Open Cup as an major tournament, the last two rounds should be hosted at CenturyLink Field. The team deemed the CCL important enough to host the matches at Qwest last year so what does it say about the club's commitment to the USOC if only the Final would be hosted at CenturyLink?

Nothing says "we want our fans to be there to support us" like limiting the number that can attend it to less than one seventh the standard home attendance. I believe this is something that Real Salt Lake got right, bidding to host the match at Rio Tinto in front of their supporters. Hopefully it's not too late for the Sounders to change the venue for the match.

Your Seattle Mariners. After last night's game the team is running a 11.5% walk rate on the season.

Bavasi's last team (the '08 squad) ran a walk rate of 6.8%, 2nd worst in MLB behind the Royals. The next year the team (still with mostly Bavasi players) ran a 6.9% rate that was still the 2nd worst in MLB behind the Giants.

Food for the Hahnemann come home crowd...

"During the AL Championship Series games in New York between the Yankees and Rangers, fans were extremely rude to Kristen Lee, spitting and throwing beer in her direction and shouting obscenities, according to USA Today."

Title edited for clarity.

Brad Hawpe was waived by the Rockies. Given his career -19.3 UZR/150 in RF, it seems like he's always been a DH in the making. As a career .280/.374/.492 LH hitter, does he make sense for the M's over Branyan?

Probably as a reaction to the lowest attendance for a home game at the Safe last night, the M's posted a ticket sale today for Monday through Thursday games. $24 Field level seats through May 6th.

I've talked to Milton about being the DH against some lefties. Given the issues we've had with Griffey's knee, we can massage [the lineup].

Per Drayer:

Add to that what Wak calls "three real quality at bats" it is safe to say Moore is impressing all round.

"He's got a lot of talent," the skipper said.

One last catching note, Wak is switching up the catchers in Tucson. Originally Rob Johnson was going to catch Felix on Sunday. They want to cover their bases should Rob have a set back so now Adam will make that start with Johnson catching Lee on Monday. Moore has had a small amount of experiences with the M's top two pitchers as he caught one inning of Felix and two of Lee in simulated games.

Woo.

"[Volquez] also threw a career-high 196 innings, far more than he'd ever thrown in a season. The Reds were concerned over his decision to play winter baseball and participate in the World Baseball Classic. Baker said during spring training that he worried about the stress on pitchers' arms when they played in the WBC."

So he worries about their arms in the WBC but not when he blows up their arms by overpitching them? Volquez's final five games of 2008 when the Reds were clearly out of contention:

Sep 23 - 98 pitches
Sep 18 - 113 pitches
Sep 13 - 121 pitches
Sep 8 - 119 pitches
Sep 3 - 117 pitches
