Hennessy optioned to AAA, Sadler called up

According to sfgiants.com...

The Giants tweaked their bullpen on Wednesday by optioning right-hander Brad Hennessey to Triple-A Fresno and recalling right-hander Billy Sadler from the same club.

Sadler, 26, had excelled in 11 appearances with Fresno, posting a 1.13 ERA as opponents hit only .138 (8-for-58) off him. He also had 24 strikeouts in 16 innings, reflecting the command of his fastball, curveball and changeup that Bochy cited.

I think that it is about time Hennessey got sent down to fix whatever is wrong. I'm surprised he still had an option left, seems as though nobody on the Giants roster has any. Sadler has experience as a starter so he can also be a spot stater if needed. I'm a fan of this move

Sadler was issued jersey No. 34, most recently worn by left-hander Steve Kline, whose uninhibited behavior contrasted with Sadler's polite, subdued nature. Asked if he was worried about acquiring some of Kline's traits, Sadler laughed and said, "I did think about that."

Oh wait never mind, Sadler now has no chance as helping out the ball club.

Pitching coach Dave Righetti told KNBR that Armando Benitez recently called him and said he wanted to re-sign with the Giants.

"I said, 'No, are you out of your mind?' " Righetti said.

only one response necessary...

I was surfing the web checking out the rumor sites and found on elismlbrumors.com this sentence...

"According to sources who asked to remain anonymous, Tony Clark is closing in on a deal with the Giants, meaning the Red Sox will look for a different backup."

I'm not a fan of this signing.

Its in the article called, "Sean Casey To Boston"

We all saw the stat about how we blew a lot of games last year that we were within a run or two. So instead of everyone talking about what hitter to trade for I say we also need to look for a reliever to help out our bullpen cause just relying on Tyler Walker being back up is not going to solve the problem.

Jorge Julio is a righty reliever who is 29 years old (in Giants terms thats the mere age of 11).
Career 4.35 era, over his career he has averaged just about a strikeout per inning.
Last year he got off to a rough start with FLA, but then went to COL where in 52 innings he had a 5 to 2 K to BB ratio, an ERA of 3.93 and struck out 50 batters. In 2006 his ERA was 4.23 with a 8 to 3 K to BB ratio.

Then we have 3 great relievers for the 7th and 8th inning in Julio, Hennessey and Walker.

I say 2 year deal worth 8 or 10 million plus a club option for the 3rd year.

Now I know there has been many diary's about Edwin Encarnacion, but i have a question for my fellow Giants fans. With Encarnacion dominating in the Dominican Winter League (I know the skill level isnt that high as opposed to MLB but it is still something to look at) Do you guys see this as enough to grab Brian's attention and have him not look at hurt 3B and look at one to get before spring training.

So my question to you is:
Is a young 3B who has promise and can play as an everyday starting 3B who just hit two three-run homers on a seven-RBI night in the Finals and is under control through 2011, enough to get Brian on the phone? What do you think it would take?

So with the signing of Aaron Rowand this gives us a surplus in outfielders, so I see adding speed, power and an infielder.

BRANDON PHILLIPS
-Age 26, let me repeat, AGE 26
-Arbitration through 2010 season
-last season hit through 158 games:
.288 AVG/.331 OBP/.485 SLG/.816 OPS
30 Home Run
94 RBI's
32 Stolen Bases
.982 Fielding % at 2B

The Home Runs and Stolen Bases jump off the page to me. The Red's are looking for pitching we have it plus outfield prospects to spare

SP Noah Lowry OR SP Jonathan Sanchez & OF Fred Lewis (and Durham if they want) for 2B Brandon Phillips

more power, speed and a solid infielder

Two words CONOR JACKSON. He is on the D Backs, hit .284 with 15 homers and is a mere 25 years old
What do the DBacks need? A Pitcher. What do the Giants have a lot of? Pitching.

Conor could become the mentee of infield veterans Aurilla, Durham, Omar. He went to CAL Berkeley so would not mind coming back to California.

Noah or (god forbid) Kevin or Sanchez and someone else (if necessary) for Conor Jackson. Great improvement, we get younger and get someone who will only get better and fit into the future of the Giants.
