SANTA CLARA -- Mike Singletary had a positive impact on 49ers tight end Vernon Davis.

"He made me understand it's not about me," Davis said Monday. "It's about the team."

But the day after the 49ers' 6-10 season came to a conclusion, Davis said Singletary did not have a positive influence on everybody on the team.

With Singletary in charge, the 49ers often looked like a team that played tight and was afraid to make mistakes.
