Things to do in Arlington
I'm flying in for the game next week with my pops for the Deadskins game, getting in on saturday. Any suggestions for things to do saturday during the day and that night? I havent been to the area in like 15 years. I'm trying to get a tour of JerryWorld on saturday, but they might be all booked up.
Thanks for any ideas. Can't wait to see Aaron Rodgers get hounded all game. What's the record for sacks in one game?

Who's Going to be DC?
I may have missed any sort of conversation about this, and I know there have been quick ideas posted here and there, but really, I do not have any sort of bearing on who could be replacing Stewart as the D-Coordinator. I know there are some candidates out there, as well as on our own coaching staff, but really, who makes the most sense? I can think of a few candidates that are probably being debated, but none of them make me all that excited:
Garry Gibbs: He coached the LB's here a few years ago and Sean Payton thought enough of him to hire him as DC in New Orleans. He also thought enough of him to fire him after this past season.
Todd Grantham: Don't know much about him, although his success making Jay Ratliff into a Pro-Bowler is a positive sign. He was the D-Coordinator in Cleveland from 05-07, which if you look at their success then and the fact that he is back coaching a position now doesn't look like he was all that good as a coordinator.
Dave Campo: Been there, done that. I love the guy, and I think he is a good defensive backs coacch and I'm very glad he is back at Valley Ranch, but he doesn't really make much sense. He has always coached the 4-3, which is fine for him staying in the backfield, but I don't think he makes much sense controlling everything.
Which brings me to what I think may make the most sense:
Wade Phillips: Really, he is the best man suited to run this defense. However, I dont think we should demote him and hire a new Head Coach (although that would be ideal, but just won't happen). I think a situation where there is no single "Defensive Coordinator" on the team might be the best option. Campo is already an "Assistant Head Coach" as well as Defensive Backs Coach, so he now becomes "Assistant Head Coach-Defense", still coaching the D Backs along with Brett Maxie. However, he also helps Phillips study the opponent's offense, put together game plans, and allow Phillips to run the rest of the team during the week. Then, on game day, Phillips calls the plays, as he did while our defense was playing at its best last season.
This is similar to how the offensive staff was organized while Parcells was here. There was no real "Offensive Coordinator", and at different times Maurice Carthon, Sean Payton, and Tony Sparano were all playing significant roles in game-planning and play-calling. Parcells himself wasn't calling the plays, but he was overseeing things. Having Campo assist Phillips in devisin a gameplan during the week, and then keeping Phillips as the dfenseive Play caller on sundays may be, in my opinion, the best way to go.
OK, that was longer than i expected it to be. Any other candidates or proposals?

Pacman suspended indefinitely
PFT is reporting that Pacman is suspended indefinitely, and at least for the next 4 games.
here is the link: http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/10/14/pacman-jones-suspended-indefinitely/
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones has been suspended indefinitely.
Jones will be suspended without pay and will miss at least four games.
The NFL found that Jones was involved in an alcohol-related physical altercation and had therefore violated the terms of his reinstatement.

Greatest Draft of Jerry Jones Era?
In a recent interview that Grizz linked to from the Star-Telegram, Jerry Jones talked about how excited he is about this year's class of rookies.
[Jerry] also labeled running back Felix Jones, cornerback Mike Jenkins, tight end Martellus Bennett, running back Tashard Choice and cornerback Orlando Scandrick as the most impactful rookie class he’s had since joining the Cowboys in 1989.
"We are getting maybe the best rookie contribution right off the bat that we’ve had," Jones said. "That is not average for us. When you figure the rookie class contributing like it is, then it’s really coming together."
The link can be found on the BTB homepage, but i'll also link it here.
Reading this at midnight as I took a break from my overwhelming 1L course load, I began to contemplate this idea. Out of all the great drafts classes that have come to Dallas in the past 20 years, with proven talent evaluators like Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcells and even (not as proven, yet ) Jeff Ireland making their opinions known to GM Jerry, is the 2008 rookie class the best of the bunch?

Gregg Williams to Jaguars
Well, we don't have to worry about Williams not fitting into our 3-4 scheme as a coach or consultant.

Assistants?
I know we've done a lot of speculating recently (anything to get our minds past the playoff loss) about who the Cowboys should go after in the draft and free agency. But with it becoming clearer that we have become the farm system for Miami Dolphin Coach's and Staff, what options are out there to fill in our own coaching staff?

Look to '08-'09
I can't think about this game anymore. i can't think about the past season anymore. It's too frustrating and it breaks my heart.
So, I need to start looking forward to next year, if just for my own sanity. Here is a brief synoposis of how I want this offseason to go.

Boys Get Three All Pros
http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=090...
Usual Suspects on this one. Owens Witten and Ware. They certainly are the three best players on this team, and obviously the AP feels they are the best at their position in the league.

Drafting Arkansas RB
This is my first diary. Sorry if it sucks.
I know the 2008 Draft is far away, but I just wanted to get people’s opinions.
I know there has long been talk of the cowboys picking an Arkansas running back in the 2008 draft, by trading up using our two first round picks (in a bigger package) to the Dolphins for the #1 pick and take Darren McFadden. While I love McFadden and feel that he will be a beast in this league, what then would become of Marion Barber? I know he works best as a tandem back (Maroney in College, JJ here), but with McFadden on the team, do you really think we would be maximizing those two backs? I know that Purple Jesus and Chester Taylor up there in Minnesota are working well this year, but seriously, how many of you think that Taylor will get even a third of the carries next year with a fully healthy AP. I know most Cowboy Fans wouldn't want to relegate MB3 to 1/3 of the carries, again, especially after how he has performed this year.
