John Stewart Bashes Dolan
On last nights Daily show John Stewart takes a shot at Dolan for ruining the Nicks and Rangers. Something like "I don't want to say it is a crime against humity akin to what the Nazis did, but it's bad"
At the 15.25 minute of the link.
Boogeyman Keeping Me Awake
I’ve been trying wrap my head around the Boogeyman deal.
Why do we sign the enforcer Derek Boogaard for 4 years at 6.5 million?
“As of the end of the 2009-10 NHL Season Boogaard has gone 222 games without scoring a goal which is the longest active streak in the NHL. His last goal was scored against the Anaheim Ducks on January 7, 2006”
Is Derek a dinosaur? A relic? A creature from a pre-lockout NHL? Proof the Glen Sather is so out of touch with today’s NHL. Does this show that Glen can never learn from his mistakes? That this signing is no different then the Brashier signing last year?
Does this prove for certain that this team is just a bunch of spare parts with no alignment as Derek will undoubtedly spend most nights as a healthy scratch… and when he does play it will be for just a few minutes a night?
The Rangers are "Golden"
There was a story in the Connecticut Post's Wednesday edition on Christ Drury. The link to it is:
http://www.ctpost.com/default/article/U-S-Olympian-Drury-hasn-t-forgotten-his-roots-377965.php
The Connecticut Post is one of largest papers in Connecticut. It was formerly named the Bridgeport Post. Bridgeport is a neighboring town to Trumbull where Chris Drury grew up. He is a local hero in the area.
My favorite part is the headline on the actual front page of the paper. Unfortunately it is not in the link.
It reads:
Hometown Hockey Hero
'Everything Chris Drury Touches Turns Golden'

Does the shootout work? Other rule changes.
There is pole on the official Rangers site asking for your opinion on the shootout. I'm curious at what others here think of it and what you would like to see changed.
My opinion is get rid of it. While it is exciting to watch I don't think it proves anything. Awarding points for going into overtime just makes teams play for a tie. If a team thinks they have a better chance in the shootout they play OT save. The urgency the leaguee was encouraging just isn't there.
My thought is get rid of the shootout. If there is a tie after the third period a 1 minute break. Put 5 men on the ice for overtime. Make the OT 10 minutes long sudden death. A loss in OT is a loss - no point. A tie after OT gets you a point.
Extra note... get rid of the trapezoid
