CUNKNNK
Oct 29, 2008 May 29, 2012 11 601
I like sports. I am too wordy but I am working on it. (Currently on step 4 of the 10 step program) I live in Counciltucky. I actually have college level education in Photoshop and this is how I choose to use it/waste it. I put way too many miles on my vehicles driving I-80. Currently tailgate in the library lot.
I was once mistaken for HFMR...which I am proud of.
Next time you are at an Iowa game, look for the worst seat in the place. I am the bald guy. I like to get a good overview from a distance, but still like to enjoy the live environment and participate with the crowd. That's really a great metaphor for how I blog. Usually I am just observing from the back, but sometimes I might stand up and yell something stupid.
Please don't ever let me offend you. NEVER take me seriously.
My handle is CUNKNNK because that is on my Hawkeye license plates. Funny only half the people get it even though I think it is obvious...I call the rest "the lower 50%".

Wednesday is Creepy
When: Cyrus will announce on Signing Day at 8:05 AM ET at the Team USA vs. The World All-Star Game.
Hopefully we'll hear from his teammate and hopefully future Hawkeye Darian Cooper shortly too.
As you know, they are both from the same High School as Coker.
These guys are studs, and our class is already pretty solid. With our RBs and Cyrus we could be serious contenders. Cooper could step right into the D-Line too with all the departures. Keep your fingers crossed!
Caring is Creepy Live on NBC at Noon.
The 2011 US Army All-American "Bowl" Game is on TV at Noon Central time today on NBC. It will feature Iowa commit and future stud (HE'S GOT 4 STARS!!) Rodney Coe on the East squad. Coe will wear #33 today and be playing Linebacker, but may see time as a tailback as well which he may play for the Hawks. This is the game where all the guys do the triple fake-outs to each school they are still considering and put on a Texas, USC or some SEC school's hat. I'm thinking this year we'll see a lot of Ohio State gets since the kids know they'll have an ink hookup.

Any Iowa bars in Oklahoma City area?
I am stranded in Oklahoma City for my job this season and I want to watch the Hawks but can't make it back for every game. They don't have BTN here on our cable and my work buddies that have satellite TV won't be available most weekends the rest of the season for me to use their dish. Thank AIRBHAG the ISU game is going to be on ESPN here so if I don't get a better option I can watch it in my apartment, but for the rest of the season I need to know where to go. There isn't an I-Club chapter in Oklahoma, so I am struggling. I know I could go to BW3 or Hooters or whatever, but I'd rather go somewhere more fun and hopefully see someone else with a "Beat State" or "Stanzi Is The Manzi" shirt on. If anyone familiar with the area has any suggestions I'd really appreciate it. Go Hawks!
Iowa game watch in OKC area? Any suggestions?
US ARMY ALL-AMERICAN GAME - Go (future) Hawks!
Iowa has 3 guys in the game. AJ Derby is #15 on the black squad. He made a special teams tackle. C.J. Fiedorowicz aka "The Polish Hat" is #88 along with #67 Andrew Donnal. Hoping to get lucky and see someone throw a Hawkeye hat on, but not getting my hopes up as I don't know of any others still considering us. It's a cool event to watch though. Kind of gives you one more fix of college-ish football before being done with it.
wond3RBoy takes flight. That do anything for ya? That's levitation Holmes.
WOOO FREAKING HOOOO!!!!!!!!
Cox Cable (the provider for a large section of Western Iowa) has finally added the Big Ten Network to their channel lineup! After 40 or so times I called an emailed to request they add it and the 40 or so times I was told we were "Big 12 Area" they finally put it on their system! No more having to watch our terrible basketball team on an even more terrible link to a terrible website streaming 2nd hand! I get to see live Ro-Tel and Snuggie commercials! When the Hawks are on the road I don't have to go to the sportsbar and fight with asshole Husker fans for TV access! This is the best thing that has happened to me in a while. Major keggers at my house this season all of a sudden for road games!
What will become of Atkins and Stewie?
From SI's Jon Heyman: "With Rockies rolling, could their sale be called off? The Rockies are on a roll with 11 straight victories, but word out of Colorado is that the team will wait until after the season to make a decision on manager Jim Tracy. Folks scoffed when GM Dan O'Dowd said this was a much better team than it was showing. But apparently it was. Ian Stewart is doing a superb job since supplanting the struggling Garrett Atkins at third base. Speaking of Atkins, a career .290 hitter who's hitting .193, O'Dowd said, "I wouldn't have believed it. This guy has been one of the most consistent offensive players." Stewart has been brilliant lately both ways, increasing the need to trade Atkins at a time it can't be done, not with his $7.05 million salary. That's OK -- after the way they started, they'll take it." So, if Atkins isn't being considered tradeable with the salary and declining numbers, what will happen? Will he get another shot later this season, and if so what happens to Stewie? If, hypothetically, Atkins gets hot and there is a Spilly or Hawpe trade does Stewie go back in the OF or are his OF days done? Any chance Stewie plays more OF without a trade to give Atkins a chance to get rolling again? Seems weird to give up on Atkins so quickly...Anyone got any inside info or entertaining educated guesses to how this situation might pan out?
New QB recruit! A five star guy! National Player of the Year! 3 year starter in the ACC!
This is really really funny. As if the program wasn't enough of a soap opera...I guess if it worked* for Drew Hensen...
Scouting report:
Rocket arm. Comes from a pro style offense. Has been coached by a Hall of Fame Coach. Bad on ball defender?? Good range from 3 point land.
Good luck with this RichRod. Stealing blue chip Notre Dame recruits--even a few years late is still good right?
Which Categories Do You Use?
I would like a little advice on the best pitching categories for a Roto league.
We've used the standard ERA, K, W, S, WHIP in the past. I'm tired of people just booting saves and streaming starters. This year in an effort to keep the starters/relievers balance and to eliminate the booted categories, I am changing the league to more sabermetrics friendly stats. The old school guys in my league are upset. They are mainly upset about using FIP since they aren't familiar with it. I think using FIP along with WHIP is perfect.
I hated K because it just went to the team that got the most innings basically. I hated Wins because it penalized the great pitchers on worse teams, and the stat doesn't measure anything in the pitcher's control really, more the runs scored by his team. Plus I thought it was unbalanced that relievers could get wins (usually after blowing it for a starter), and starters couldn't get saves. I hated saves because it just went to one guy in the league that didn't boot the category early (who usually got last place in pitching).
I am changing it to K/9, QS, S, WHIP, FIP. I think it is great this way and will reward the team that actually has the best staff all year. Do you see any problems with these new categories or holes in them that could be exploited?
If Shonn Greene is not invited...
If Shonn Greene is not invited to at least go to New York and watch a Big XII QB win the award, I consider it a personal insult.
That would be about as dumb as:
Ahhhh...South Carolina...you make it so easy on us.
But seriously, anybody got any leaked information? The suspense is killing me. I know he won't win, but I firmly believe it is an injustice if he doesn't get invited.
