It's Time To Understand The Facts:
It is time for us die hard fanatics to understand the facts: CU is not a football school. Sad thing is, we aren't a basketball school either. Talent doesn't lie, it doesn't fool you, your teams either have it or they don't. Right now the only guarantee at the University of Colorado, is that little celebration they have on Farrand Field every 4/20, and that our athletic teams will be in the bottom half of their conferences. I don't know if it's as simple as Dan Hawkins sending us back to the stone age, or Gary Barnett's failed attempt to run a dirty program, but right now we have no identity, nor much talent.
I wanted to write some positive posts this season. I wanted to believe that deep down somewhere underneath all the patchouli oil that there was a football program. I wanted to believe that the new regime was going to return us to dominance. They brought back the old COLORADO mojo, the old jerseys, and the pants to match, but the results are still the same. We don't have man power to go 4 quarters with Ohio State, let alone Washington State.
We'll give Embree and Bieniemy the benefit of the doubt, give them time to rebuild since they are starting from scratch. At this point we need to accept the facts: we are not going to be good for a while. I am a Yankee fan so I don't believe in rebuilding, I believe in reloading. Life is too short, who has time to start over?
Call me in a few years when you can convince some athletes to come to Boulder.

The NCAA is a Fraud
Collegiate sports has increasingly become more and more corrupted. I am embarrassed to be a college sports fan, and after the Colorado Mens basketball team being robbed I may be done. The "selection" process for the NCAA tournament and the "selection" process behind football bowl games a disservice to everyone. What is happening is borderline illegal, I guarantee you if someone looked into what was happening you would see systematic problems, ranging from racketeering, money laundering, bribery and straight up fraud. College sports a complete HOAX, they rival professional wrestling, and the elections in China. It is a scam for suckers and people who allow champions to be decided in the board room and in shady back ally conversations. Colorado not getting into the tournament is just ANOTHER example of the bull shit that goes on.
I am done watching the fixed outcomes and political garbage that is college football and basketball. Pro sports is the only option we have to watch true competition. Until the fans say enough is enough, we will continue to have to deal with fraud. There needs to be an INVESTIGATION into both these sports because something smells very very very FISHY to me.
Black And Yellow
Yeah ah ha, you know what it is!! Everything Embree do, he do it big!!
It has been 8 years since I have heard this much action and competition in the recruiting arena. We are out there on the streets fighting for 3 star and 4 star young men and going toe to toe with USC, UCLA and the rest of them! Dan Hawkins and his cronies are finally out of here, his SHRIMP sized son is gone, and now it is time to play big boy football again. I can't wait until we put on those all blacks and Bieniemy starts running the ball down peoples throats!
Thank you Bohn, Thank you Embree, Thank you Cabril, Thank you EB!! As old man Barnett once said: RETURN TO DOMINANCE!!!!
Hawk took the 'HIGH' road
As TERRIBLE a job as Hawk did here at Colorado he was stand up guy. I couldn't help but to always root for him to turn this thing around year after year. You see Hawkins has this Phil Jackson, Zen Master, I used to smoke a lot of chronic type attitude, only a life long Buffalo could appreciate. I truly believe Hawk would be a good coach for an established powerhouse program, we all saw what he was capable of doing at Boise against inferior competition. I couldn't ever see Phil Jackson taking on a rebuilding project like the Knicks or Clippers, even the Zen Master would fail on those kamikaze missions. Hawkins failed us here in Boulder, buts it's important to note he was a class act and took responsibility. When Hawk made his exit speech I couldn't help but wish him the best. Even on his day of reckoning he took the high road, showed class, and was an example of how a man should act.
This is how the students take the HIGH road...
The Colorado Football Job is a tough one, it's not for everyone, and not every good coach can win here. It's going to take a special animal. Period. You have to go into Texas and recruit against the big boys and then fight Mizzou and Nebraska for the scraps, you have to go to SoCal which is the land of the Trojans, and fight the Ducks, and the Bruins, and on goes the list. We don't pay a lot, have average at best facilities, and tough academic standards. Don't ask me whey the academic standards are so tough for athletes, they seem to admit any out of state kid who has a Range Rover, and his Dads Amex. That all being said, $2M per year to live in Boulder and coach the Buffs sounds like the job of a life time to me. Finding a coach to get over the well documented hurdles who wants to be here, is going to be the hard part. We should take a page out of the Steelers/Rooney book on hiring coaches. Go young, go disciplined, don't be afraid to take a shot, and stand by him. You buy low and sell high. Nobody reading this thought Mike Tomlin was the next best thing, and he is a star. Dude just shines and commands respect from everyone.
I don't know who the next leader should be, what I can tell you is I want a clone of Mike Tomlin, a early 90's Bill Parcels, a Vince Lombardi throwback type. Barnett had a touch of that in him, but he couldn't get us a game breaker. Who fits that mold, who will take $2M and WANT to be here? Help me out people...
Now Hiring: Chief Executive Officer, CU Football
I am going to make this short, sweet and to the point. The best football coaches aren't the newest and hottest offensive guru's, or the newly appointed geniuses according to ESPN. The most successful football coaches are born leaders, organised, trusting of their employees, and CEO like. Successful football coaches run their teams and institutions like fortune 500 companies. There is a certain chain of command, respect, and level of politics that goes into keeping the players happy, prepared, and ultimately the team winning.
So you want to know the point of the story? Point is Hawkins on the surface looks like a CEO, his angry speeches about "this is the big 12 brotha" sure as hell made him sound like CEO, and we all believed he had a plan to turn this thing around. Well he didn't, he failed, 14 straight road losses later he and the administration need to figure out what the hell went wrong.
Since Nick Saban or Bill Parcells aint walking through the door anytime soon I say we take our time and make sure we get it right. We need a Chief Executive Officer that will come in and clean house, lay down the law, hire a massive staff and demand respect. We need a Saban disciple, a Bob Stoops disciple... someone who learned directly from the best of the best day in and day out. We need a leader of men, not the newest fad play caller from Oregon or Texas Tech. This new leader will bring in his own version of a goofy offensive coordinator, and replace him just as easily when some crap team hires him away after a we win a few Pac 12 Championships.
MIKE BOHN IF YOU CAN READ- PLEASE HIRE US A CEO, PLEASE HIRE US A NO BULLSHIT FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION CHIEF EXECUTIVE TO RUN SHIT.
GOOD LUCK. IN THE MEAN TIME JUST BEAT NEBRASKA PLEASE.
Don't let go of one branch until you have your hand on another.
As I watch the ALCS I can't help but notice the NY Yankee bats look older than Hugh Hefner's balls. I don't know if it's been more painful to watch the Colorado Buffaloes over the past 5 years, or to watch the Texas Rangers take NY to the wood shed the last 3 days. Actually that was a lie, watching Hawkins single handedly sabotage this program is way worse. The snowball started when he let his son who couldn't start for Montana State, who can't see over the line of scrimmage, who is 175 pounds soaking wet, lead the Buffaloes. We all know the rest of the story, Darrell Scott, bad assistant coaches and complete disorganization, no need to beat a dead buff.
So whats next you ask? When do we hand out the pink slips to the staff? When is the right time to start moving forward in a new direction? The answers to those questions is the age old question of man. You see men are like monkeys, they don't like to let go of one branch until they have their hand on another. You don't break up with your girlfriend until you have another sexy babe lined up, you don't quit your current job until you have a signed offer sheet from your new employer, and you sure as hell don't fire your head coach until you have the next one picked out! Just look at the Dallas Cowboys, you know the good Ol' boy Jerry wants to get rid of Wade, but he knows mid season he's not going to get his guy. John Gruden, Bill Cowher who ever is on Ol' Jerry's list isn't going to be available till the off season.
Mike Bohn hopefully has a plan in place and a few guys on his short list. His potentials may be on their way out at current jobs, in the booth, or assistants on other teams that can't talk mid season. Regardless, our best chance to make a bowl game and get recruits signed is to keep Hawk until we find our next leader. Once we find our guy and free up the cash to put an offer on the table, then we give the walking papers; Not vice versa. It is not easy to find a coach last minute, just look at Tennessee. The Vols were left without a seat in a high stakes game of musical chairs and they have a much better program than us. There is no guarantee that we are going to get anyone better than Dan Hawkins, let along Derek Dooley.
Let the search begin and lets beat the hell out of Nebraska for the last time. I hate the smell of their crappy state, and they are way overrated. Win or lose, we still booze, F#ck Nebraska.

Failure is not an option, who will be our next LEADER?
We all know this program makes us CU faithful sick to our stomachs. What I really want to get into is who is going to be the next guy to RETURN this program to glory. We need a Rex Ryan prototype here today, not tomorrow. A coach that when he calls, you answer the phone. A coach that young men would do anything to play for!
I don't want to hear about low level assistants from other schools, guys named Eric Bieniemy, or current coaches of Mountain West schools like Pat Hill or even a guy like Chris Petersen of Boise State. I swear, if someone comes on here and tells me we need to hire that Colorado high school coach, I WILL go postal on you.
I am going to say this ONCE: Colorado needs to open their Man Purse and PAY a big time college coach. BIG TIME COLLEGE COACH. Hopefully the caps locked button got my point across. Nick Saban got Alabama out of the gutter, Bo Pelini got Nebraska out of the gutter, Pete Carroll got USC out of the gutter and list goes on.
Colorado Athletics needs to SACK UP and get a hard nose no Bull $hit, I can recruit anywhere and anyone (specifically a QB), my team is going to punch you in the mouth every Saturday coach.
Maybe we can't get Will Muschamp from Texas, but I would over pay him by 2X to get him here. We need to adopt the NY Yankees approach: You always over pay to get your guy, and not lose out on him. Open your Man Purse and over pay a STAR, a STUD and return this team to dominance. Look what Bill Parcels has done for the Dolphins, Rex Ryan for the Jets...one man can change a culture in this sport. Football is about leaders of men. Who is going to be our leader?
I want some thoughtful insight Buff Fans....what do you all think?
The Hawk has landed
I have been one of the most critical Hawkins proponents the last few years, but I must give credit where credit is do. GREAT JOB TONIGHT BUFFALOES. All around from the QB, the O Line, the play calling and the preparation, this was a much improved Colorado Football team.
Hawkins coached this team like his job was on the line, and Colorado played this game like their pride was on the line. There is no reason this team can't run the table against the doormats of the Big 12; Missouri, Baylor, Texas Tech, Kansas, K-State, and Iowa State. None of those teams are in the top 25 and all have the same or worse talent than us. If Hawk wants to save his job, and keep us believing, than he will have this team prepared and ready to win those games. There is no excuse to lose any of those games, none.
Expecting to win against Oklahoma and Nebraska is getting ahead of ourselves. It is realistic by all means to compete, but Hawk's JOB will be determined on how he has this team ready to play against the doormats. If Hawk can call a good game and have his team prepared this will be a step in the right direction.
That being said, I can't wait for the move to the Pac 10. How sick is everybody of playing against the Big 12 North. Hello Cali, goodbye.................Iowa?
F#ck'em up, F#ck'em up GO CU!

FIRE DAN HAWKINS TODAY. NOT TOMORROW.
This team is continually unprepared, out-coached and mistake prone. The play calling makes me sick, the development of talent makes me sicker. I AM EMBARRASSED TO BE A COLORADO BUFFALO.
To publish this post it needs to be 75 words....I was done after 31. What happened to the tradition and the pride and the heart of wearing BLACK AND GOLD and running over teams. What happened to the big physical running backs and O-line that would PANCAKE opposing teams.
THIS TEAM IS A JOKE. High school teams in Texas would beat the crap out of us.

Hawk Lays Another Egg
The mighty mighty Colorado Buffaloes fought their hearts out this afternoon, and as I type this short memo they also pulled a back-door cover out of nowhere with time expiring to keep all the gamblers happy. What used to be a smash mouth hard hitting rivalry is now just another blip on Nebraska's schedule. Once again Dan Hawkins lead another very soft, under- prepared, under-coached, undisciplined, football team to defeat today. The play calling was atrocious, the execution was worse and the penalty's made me sick to my stomach. Who is calling 3 yard passes on 3rd and 8, and why is our kicker not good enough to hold Mason Crosby's jock?
Hawk is out -coached in every aspect of the game week in and week out. Some people call the close games "progress". They say the program is going in the right "direction". I say we get a coach here who can WIN the close games, who doesn't FOLD under pressure, who can lead a disciplined, smash mouth, Colorado Football team to victory.
Bring back the old uniforms with the big letters COLORADO in front, start recruiting some big strong running backs, and get us a dam smash mouth football coach. This is not the WAC ...this is the Big 12 brotha.
Win or lose we still booze...F-Nebraska!
Till next year,
Gary Barnett
07 NY Giants Parallels
I remember 2 years ago Die Hard NY Giants fans of 50 years were hoping they lost the last 8 games of the season so Tom Coughlin would get fired. It was that bad trust me, my family has season tickets on the 6 yard line. They had a kid named Eli at QB that was scared and looked liked he was still going through puberty. Funny thing is he threw balls that sailed through the air just like OUR kid Cody Hawkins, getting receivers crushed every Sunday. Long story short they won the rest of their games (covered the spread too) including the Super Bowl, Coach Coughlin is headed to the Hall of Fame, and everyone is back on the bandwagon.
I know Dan Hawkins didn't forget how to coach. That speech in 07 calling out the players and their families saying, "this is the big 12 brotha" really made me a believer that this was the guy. I was about to lead a rebellion after that loss last week, I was sick to my stomach. The question is now: Do we hope Colorado goes 2-10 so Hawk gets fired, or do we have faith in OUR team, and OUR school, and hope they can pull off a NY Giants like comeback to win the big 12 this year?
Dan Hawkins just doesn't have it..

Stop polaticing Dan Hawkins, this team is painful to watch. The Buff's are clearly undertalented and that is fine, the Colorado program is clearly not Texas or Oklahoma, we all understand this. The part that makes me so angry is they are OUT COACHED every dam game. The little talent they do have never see's the field and the coaches son thows a ball that sails in the wind like a kite that is nothing less than a field day for opposing defences. Did I forget to say we are out coached every game and our 2 BEST PLAYMAKERS NEVER SEE THE FIELD.
Some thing needs to change in Boulder and needs to change fast. I am no longer drinking the Dan Hawkins cool-aid, no more. The Colorado program is being set back many years by Hawkins, what recruit in their right mind would come to Boulder after watching this coaching meltdown the last 3 years. Not to mention the mismanagement of every aspect of a program. Scott is as good as gone if this continues, mark my words. Let me say one more thing....Gary Barnett may not have been the most ethically responsible person, may not have had the most talent, but his teams played to win the game. They played D and ran the ball down your face, took chances down the field a few times a quater. I was ready for change during Barnetts last year or 2, getting murdered by Texas every year got real old, real fast. We were left with nothing better. What we have now is a soft team that plays ZERO defence, can't run the ball (actually doesn't attempt to run the ball) and is out coached game in and game out.
The Athletic Director and the school president need to pony up for a big name coach. They need to start throwing money around like Adam "Pac Man" Jones at a strip club and they need to start TODAY. If the path continues down this road of negligence Baylor and Iowa State will be out recruiting and beat us shortly. "Return to Dominace" is what Barnett said before he coached one game here, and thats what he did. What's your MOJO Dan Hawkins...Just what the heck is it?
WIN OR LOSE WE STILL BOSE....FIRE DAN HAWKINS.
