Well, very interesting. Did anyone watch the starting lineups for the Eagles - Bears game tonight? When it came time for Desean to say where he went to school he said, "Desean Jackson, Long Beach Poly." WTF kind of nonsense is that? I have never seen any other player do that on SNF.

I think it totally disrespects Cal and frankly I will no longer support Desean in any form. I think a lot of you, notably Yellow Fever, should reexamine your affinity for him. He's straight up Mesean, not Desean. Discusting.

Update: Desean is free to do and say whatever he wants. My statements above are mine alone. Feel free to voice yours if you like.

Also, apparently other players have done this also. Perhaps I am overreacting.

Cal Fans Missing the Point with Rodgers

The ultimate success of Rodgers lies in validating Tedford as a genuine QB genius.

So, it seems some of the posters around here are grumbling that I am making too big of a deal about Rodgers first career NFL start tonight. Some debate whether we should even cover alums. Some feel we should only cover Marshawn and Desean. And you know who you are. But they miss the point; Cal's ability to send quality players to the NFL directly affects the success of this program. Recruits love to see that their perspective schools they are deciding between have NFL players. Specificly in their position. If a recruit sees that a school is not producing any NFL talent, and they have ambitions to play in the NFL (which they all do) they will be hesitant to attend that school.

Akili Smith, Joey Harrington and Kyle Boller have all strugled mightily in the NFL.

All are Teford QB's. Akili Smith was drafted before Donovan McNabb.

The other large issue, specifically regarding Rodgers first start tonight, is the tag Tedford has gotten about being a producer of NFL QB busts. If Rodgers is solid he can go a long way in helping to dispel this unfair myth.

So you see my friends, there is a lot riding on this game tonight, and the entire Green Bay season. Rodgers in under tremendous pressure to follow in the footsteps of an egomaniacal sociopathic legend. A man so bloated with self importance it could make me puke. He has a lot to do, but I think he has the physical ability, and mental capacity, to succeed in the NFL. Not just succeed, but thrive! And with that, I leave you with this extra motivational tool. If I ever saw this guy in person, I would probably break his freaking jaw!

AARON RODGERS ERA OFFICIALLY BEGINS

(SIDE NOTE: Interesting, no official post on this issue? WTF? I have been drinking and am disappointed that I must address this issue. Such monumental tasks should not fall on my shoulders! Wake up CBG, this is serious!)

It was a beautiful evening in an overcast Green Bay, and Rodgers did nothing to spoil that somehow paradoxical statement. Though the support for Favre vs. Rodgers was palpably pro Favre during pregame warm-ups, Rodgers maintained a steady composure throughout his limited role. Upon taking the field as the first new QB in GB for over 17 years, the fans finally embraced him, and left their seats in applause. Though they have been largely childish and petty throughout the Brett Favre soap opera, the fans of Green Bay finally seemed reserved to their fate. And their fate quickly looked promising as Rodgers proved he belonged.

Despite being plagued by a false start, drops, and general miscues by an early starting lineup, Aaron persevered and eventually left the game with a 10-0 lead against the Cincinnati Bengals. His play, to be frank, was very, very solid for a first start. Many novice fans of the NFL somehow believe that modern QB’s are somehow supposed to come into the league and dominate. Well, Alex Smith hasn’t done that, and certainly neither has JaMarcus Russell. After serving behind Brett Favre for three years (who admittedly refused to mentor Aaron) Rodgers looked ready to fill the shoes of a QB who had long ago lost his humility.

Rodgers eventually led the Packers to a field goal and a touchdown off a pass that was nothing short of spectacular. Feeling pressure and needing to escape, Rodgers gunned it to James Jones for a helmet popping touchdown. No, literally, James Jones’s helmet popped off, yet he recovered and ran it in for a touchdown. No doubt it was gratifying for Rodgers, who was told earlier in the week during practice that he "sucked" by a six year old.

For Green Bay fans, the writing is already being washed off the wall; they need to embrace their new QB, Aaron Rodgers. Next week, Saturday to be exact, they face the 49ers. I already have my tickets, and I hope you do too. This is our chance to let the 49ers know just how much they fucked up by picking that disappointment Smith. As Aaron said, and I am paraphrasing, "this is special, this game means allot." At the time SF OC McCarthy, the current coach of GB, said they were going with Aaron. They didn’t, they took Smith, and they look like fools as a result! Go Aaron, Go Packers! Beat the 49ers, the team that let you get away!

The Aaron Rodgers Era has officialy begun!
