Pride Of Detroit LeGarrette Blount picked up

So much for the Blount signing, the Bucs just claimed him off waivers.

http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=5854

Very smart move by the Bucs and their front office. Blount should be a great complimentary back especially in the system that they have in place...too bad he won't be active most days unless the Bucs get hit with a massive of injuries at the position like a few years back.

Pride Of Detroit Tackle available

Whenever the Seahawks are in the news, the Lions have to listen. Mayhew seems like he can get anyone from that team for anything. We already got two starters and a young guy in G Sims, LB Peterson and DE Jackson...The latest on the block is Sean Locklear. The tackle has started for the past five seasons on a solid Seahawk  front line.

Now I know the talks of the offensive line have slowed down with all the happenings on the defensive side of the ball but I still think that we need to address that position one time or another.

Locklear is a good tackle who can give Backus some competition if he does not perform well or on the right side with Cherilus.

Maybe we can give them a "conditional pick" or another guy who is on the cut line.

Thoughts?

Pride Of Detroit Linebacker Market

I thought it be interesting to make a post on the LBs out there that the Lions may be able to pick up since that is the one position we are still unsettled on. Most would say the secondary but I think were at least settled for now with the new young guns in there.

Latest name out there... not sure if anyone knows much about this player but Broncos just released LB Baraka Atkins.

Why so intriguing? It's obvious the Broncos do not know what they are doing, example, Alphonso Smith. And some team may give this kid a try, why not Mayhew. He is HUGE at 6'4'' 268 lbs. and was used at LB for the 3-4 but might not be bad to try out in Detroit and add a big body next to Julian and the other guys.

Pride Of Detroit Lions released Rocky Boiman

Yes, looks like good news since he was brought in to help out Levy. Looks like Levy will be ready to go come week one. Another move I approve of, nice job Mayhew. Let's see who else we pick up now. Mayhew has been on a roll lately and this roster is really starting to take shape. Watch out Chicago!

Now trying to get to 75 words lol

Pride Of Detroit Lions claim special teamer Logan

http://twitter.com/Adam_Schefter/status/23093370263

Adam Schefter reports the Lions have claimed Stefan Logan from waivers. The former Steeler was 2nd in AFC in yards per kickoff return.

I approve of this move because replaces Northcutt, which I take for a huge upgrade, and the Lions can even use him in the slot. He is however a similar type player as Aaron Brown in terms of what he brings to the team so hoping the Lions do not cut Brown as a result of this.

Thoughts?

Pride Of Detroit Jordan Babineaux cut

How do you guys like Babinueaux? I remember he had a pretty decent game against the Lions a season ago and is just 28 years old.

Pride Of Detroit Lions claim WR from Redskins

Marko Mitchell. He is a big body to add to camp at 6'4''. I saw one game of his a year ago in preseason with the Redskins and he seemed to get a lot of attention from "tryout" defenses late when the starters were out but still looks huge on the field. Supposedly had an outstanding preseason a year ago and was believed to pass Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly in the depth chart before being waived. I would definitely take this little known talent rather than keep Northcutt.

Pride Of Detroit Possible bad news for Lions>Suh

Jason La Canfora just posted on his twitter that the Redskins have been in talks with the Rams about DT Adam Carriker.

This spells bad news for the Lions as the Rams will most likely have no excuse not to select Suh if this deal goes through. I still think they're better off with a quarterback but we'll have to wait and see.

Pride Of Detroit New Mock Draft Update: Free Agency Edition

Hello fellow Lions fans. I've updated my Mock Draft up to this point in free agency and would love some feedback on it. I also updated the players rankings and second round.

Feel free to leave a comment either on here or the site via comment box.

I still have the Lions selecting Ndamukong Suh with the 2nd Overall pick and Kyle Wilson with their second round pick and I'm hoping to add a third round later on.

Thanks, and as always, I don't mind the criticism so come hard.

Pride Of Detroit Young OL available

The Pittsburgh Steelers won't be making a restricted free agent tender offer to G Darnell Stapleton, a league source told Scout.com.

The 24-year old offensive lineman was signed Pittsburgh as an undrafted free agent in 2007. He started 12 games the next season, but missed all of 2009 due to a knee injury.

Because of his age, Stapleton could receive a decent amount of interest in free agency, but it remains to be seen at what level--starter or backup.

Pride Of Detroit NFL Mock Draft Update

Hello fellow Lions fans. I just updated my mock draft and would love some input on it. You can leave comments either on here or the site. I'll try my best to improve the site as much as possible. Criticism is always welcomed.

I currently have the Lions selecting Ndamukong Suh with the second overall pick after the Rams realize they cannot go another year without a Quarterback under center.

In the second round, I have them taking corner back Kyle Wilson out of Boise State. He adds talent to that secondary and should provide what Delmas brought to the safety position not to mention being drafter almost the same exact selection at the top of the 2nd round as Delmas. He also brings great value with his return ability to the kick and punt return units and should excel under a new special teams coach now that Stan Kwan is long gone.

Thanks and enjoy the offseason!  Go Lions
