I need help. I thought I bought parking passes to the green lot but instead was sent parking for the gold lot. The green lot was preferred because we wanted the grass to grill on, as you cannot grill on the pavement at Turner. I've got 32 people coming to our tailgate and I need to get my ducks in a row.
Does anyone have any insight as to what the restrictions are in the gold lot? Are there grassy areas where grilling is possible?
If you have ANY experience parking over there, please let me know. I really appreciate it.
Braves Home Opener: You goin?
Hey crew,
The home opener is 72 hours away and the anticipation is huge. I'm extremely pumped! I've been planning for this for months now. I was able to get 12 tickets together for me and my group on the day individual tickets went on sale. I'm glad I did because tickets for Friday's game are basically gone. Our tailgate group should be at about 12 or 14. My group will be in 315L and I'll be in Hank Aaron Section 107 (courtesy of the generous Bullet Bob Turley... a customer of mine) and will try to send in a "View From Your Seat." I'm going down for the Sunday afternoon game with my ol' man as well.
Anyways, I wanted to feel out to see who else was heading to the game. I'm going to have a decent sized tailgate going with my Weber Grill (regrettably not the Big Green Egg... bummer), set of Braves corn hole boards, and my Braves Beer Pong Table. I'm heading down at noon to try to get a lawn spot in the green lot. A lawn spot is necessary to be able to use a grill. I don't understand that, but it is what it is. I also don't understand why they won't let you set up any tents in the parking lot. Ridiculous. Anyone know why?
I'll be in my red Nissan Titan... tinted windows, and a Braves decal on the back window. If you see me, stop over and let's have a beer. Anyone else headed down to Turner for Home Opener Weekend?
A couple more questions:
1. Anyone know what time the parking lots open?
2. Last year, all the parking lots were permit only. I have three permits but may have four cars. Anyone know if the policy is the same as last?
If you're a Braves fan, have been to Turner Field, and this link doesn't get the blood flowing, there is something wrong with you:

And we continue...
Salt and Pepper, Boys of Spring, etc:

View from the lawn. The picture make it look so far to home plate, but in reality, it wasn't that bad.
My Lady and I, soon to be married... 46 days. April 30th, 2011.
Huddy workin it. He Auburn Fan Club made the trip to this game.
Some minor leaguer, I think:
This was really scary. Uggla's bat flew into the stands. I don't think anyone got hurt:
This is where it landed. Not much to see, really:
Alright, that's all. Hope you enjoyed. I had a blast!
Feel free to email me if you have any specific questions about the park, Orlando, the drive, etc. I'd love to give specifics and help anyone out. I've got a couple great suggestions on hotels, restaurants, etc.
Spring Training Pics: Braves vs Mets 3/12
Hey guys,
My lady and I just wrapped up our annual trip to Braves spring Training. This was our first visit to Orlando and the Wide World of Sports Complex. Boy, is it ever incredible! It puts the other ST facilities I've been to, to shame. It's clean, vibrant, and exciting.
I'm going to go into more details than the average Braves blog reader may want but I'm doing that to try to help anyone else that may be going to a ST game in the future. I'll share the tips and tricks I picked up on and hopefully they will be somewhat helpful to anyone else going down.

OT: You ain't chillin if you ain't grillin!!
This has absolutely NOTHING to do with Braves stats, the team's management, or the team in general (hence the 'OT' proclamation). So tune this fan post out if thats what you are looking for.
Instead this post is just a Spring-Training-Get-Me-Through-Till-April filler post. I don't think I'm alone when I say I love to grill during the summer months and nothing complements a 7:10pm first pitch more than a cold brew and a grill. In my life, they go hand in hand. My two passions are my Braves and cooking/grilling. I just got my first Big Green Egg for Christmas and I've become obsessed. This isn't a BGE forum but I've included a pic of my BGE and the table I made for it. This is set up right outside my Braves man-cave on the patio. I'll spend 6 hours a night watching Braves baseball, shootin' some pool, and puttin' down a couple pops here during the summer months... this is my heaven.

Spring Training Road Trippin'
Hey guys and gals...
Today is an exciting day in baseball and everyone is starting to get a touch of cabin fever. I wanted to send a feeler out to see if there are many of you that have experience with the Braves' Spring Training facility and smaller details on how to make a trip successful. I'm looking for suggestions for hotel accommodations, rental car need, closeby must-see restaurants/bars, or maybe even some food you thought was awesome at the stadium itself. How about some stories or tips on the facility itself to make the most out of our trip next month? CB is usually the best at this.
My fiance and I live in Atlanta and making the drive is something we are planning on. Any places we should hit on the way down? It's a very boring drive as far as I know but any suggestions would be really helpful. We are really into food and trying new things and places. Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and Man vs Food destinations are usually a staple in any trip we take.
The past three years, we been to a couple facilities: Pirates (Sarasota), Red Sox (Fort Myers), and the Yankees (Tampa). If anyone was heading to any of these stadiums, I'd love to give you my thoughts on them if you thought they would be of any help. For any of you looking to start a cool tradition, heading to spring training for a weekend comes highly recommended from me. It's a great experience.
We just bought a new Canon T2i so hopefully I can bring back some good photos for you all that can't make it down this year. Ok, with all that being said, does anyone have any Braves' Spring training help for me?
Thanks!

Prado gets some national limelight
Some could argue the Braves or parts thereof could be placed in other parts of this article as well.
No one talked about this on the broadcast last night in Arizona, but did anyone else see Melky Cabrera misinterpret Joe West's "time" call and, instead, gave him a high five. My buddy put this on youtube and it's hilarious, in my opinion.
First fanpost or fanshot of any kind so forgive me if it's not all correct BUT....
The hidden gem I found last night at the game was the bar below the gas south sign. They have a special going on for 12 ounces draft beers for $3. Incredible. Normally a beer at the ball park is double that. They have the price so low right now because the are promoting that standing area of the stadium and trying to draw more fans to that area to watch the game.
Watching the game there is great with a similar view to that of the Chophouse. The scoreboard is hard to see from that vantage point, but regardless...
Beer at the stadium tends to be my biggest expense and I wanted to share with you all the best news I heard all night last night.
Sweep those Buccos!
