Hey everyone!

I hope ya'll are having a great summer. Personally, I am ready for it to be over for many reasons. Heat,humidity,Irene and no hockey just to name a few. :)

Anyway, I had a few questions about the upcoming carnival and was hoping someone here would be able to answer them.

Is there a list, published in advance, of the players that will be there?

What time does it start?

Do the players mingle in the crowd or do they sit at a table where you can stand in line to get autographs?

Is it ok to have your pic taken with a player or is that discouraged?

Does the event go on if it rains?

Are there vendors with 'Canes merchandise for sale?

We would love to attend this event but it's a long drive from VA Beach. I'd hate to drive all the way down there and not be able to see or get an autograph from some of my favorite players.

And finally, is there a way to send a member here a private message or email? If so, could someone please tell me how to do it. :)

I saw a video done by Sports Science with a football player. It was an interesting video so I searched to see if they had done anything with hockey players. ( This has been the longest summer EVER. LOL )  Sure enogh I found a couple of videos. I apologize in advance that this video not only features the Crapitals it also has Ovenchicken. If anyone wants to beat me for this I humbly request a flogging with wet noodles. I really wish this video had our boy Cam in it. 
 I also found this video done by Sports Science. It's a Sumo goalie and I got a kick out of it. He's a big ol' boy but he's slow as molasses.

While I was at it I also ran across a video about body checking. The numbers are impressive but the test was flawed. The ice wasn't large enough for the player to gather speed for a traditional hit.

I was watching a video from a link that was posted on another site. This one was over on the right hand side and I thought I'd check it out because it's rare to see goalies fight. It's a great video and as I'm watching it I didn't clue in to the fact of the "Peters" last name. It wasn't until the end of the video where they said Justin Peters and I saw his face that I realized it was OUR Justin. LOL  Who knew that kid could throw down like this? Maybe some of ya'll have seen this video but it was a first for me. I bet Dennis was sorry he ran his mouth and dropped gloves with Peters. LOL

Being a newish fan of hockey I find the hardest part of being a fan is dealing with the trades. I had no idea they trade players as much as they do. To this day I am still ticked off about Cullen and Alberts. Maybe I get too "attached" to certain players and can't see the big picture. I still can't see the big picture when it comes to Cullen tho. Maybe someone can draw it with crayons and break it down Barney style for me or something. LOL I have to admit it breaks my heart to think of the day when they trade Cam, Gleason, Rosie or Jussi. I might have to lead a revolt againt the Canes or something at that point. LOL

Anyone else have a hard time dealing with trades?

I was wondering where ya'll get most of your Hurricane gear? I'd really like to have a few more t-shirts for the summer. Also, does anyone know if The Eye ships merchandise?

*** Now I have to ramble on because my original post was less than 75 words. HA! That's funny. I didn't realize posts had to be a certain length. (OK, think I can try to post now. LOL )

Now don't ya'll laugh at these questions. :)  I've only been a fan of hockey/ the 'Canes for the past 5 years. As many of you know hockey wasn't/isn't big in the South so I wasn't raised on it. I've only been able to follow the 'Canes online and an occasional game on TV until this past season when I got Center Ice. I've watched A LOT of hockey this winter that's for sure. LOL And that has left me with 2 burning questions I want to ask more "seasoned" hockey fans, so here goes....

1. Why are the players ALWAYS spitting? Seems to me they should look like shrivled up prunes by the end of a game with all the spitting they do. LOL

2. Why in the hell do fans beat on the glass during games? I believe it's the dumbest thing I've ever seen.  What is the point of it?

So, there they are, my two biggest questions about hockey. :)
