It makes a difference to me. Losses suck

It's always noise. His last 6 weeks were also noise.

Don't take this the wrong way but I think Leutge sucks and if Wilhelmsen isn't hurt Eric Wedge is an idiot

I still have a hard time thinking of Morales as a Mariner.

Poker with friends is fun for that reason.

Apologies to anyone that disliked the way my initial comment came off. It was not intentional

I deleted what I wrote because I know gambling addiction has nothing to do with idiocy and I don't want to make it seem like I look down on those with a problem.

Table games because there isn't sports gambling here and I haven't signed up for Bovada.
Commented on 5/17: Open Game Thread on May 17 2013, 7:58p - 1 reply
I was... I think 19 at the time and sports gambling was still legal but I had no money and I'm not actually a big gambler. More of a hobby gambler.
Commented on 5/17: Open Game Thread on May 17 2013, 7:53p - 1 reply
One of them was an 10 team parlay where I bet a dollar and won $125 and then I wept openly that I wasn't more of a gambler.
Commented on 5/17: Open Game Thread on May 17 2013, 7:53p - 2 replies
I have only made parlay bets three times in my life, and I have won 2 of them
Commented on 5/17: Open Game Thread on May 17 2013, 7:51p - 1 reply
For those that know about sports gambling, do you think that sabermetric knowledge would help win Parlays?

I hate mine. It sounds okay, but it doesn't sound like me. I am listening to a stranger mock me.

I think I would just a running calculation with all players on the team with less than one year of service time, and following them for 1000 plate appearances.
Commented on 5/16: Open Game Thread on May 16 2013, 10:09p
You would do some incredibly complex math about team developed players and how far they differentiate from their projections over an arbitrary time, like 2 years.

Disagree. SABR is just math.

I use it for meta titles
Commented on 5/16: Open Game Thread on May 16 2013, 9:57p - 1 reply
I think it depends.
Commented on 5/16: Open Game Thread on May 16 2013, 9:56p - 1 reply
It also shows that any team with bad PD that's relying on improvements is going to have a worse projection.
Commented on 5/16: Open Game Thread on May 16 2013, 9:55p
Well yeah, I agree. But again, I wouldn't call that SABR being wrong.
Commented on 5/16: Open Game Thread on May 16 2013, 9:54p - 1 reply
Well, exactly. That's the player development part. Good teams train well, motivate well, and work with players well.
Commented on 5/16: Open Game Thread on May 16 2013, 9:53p
I think one pitch only qualifies as a SHIFT-key
Commented on 5/16: Open Game Thread on May 16 2013, 9:46p - 1 reply
To be fair, though, many SABR stats are merely advanced non-SABR stats.
Commented on 5/16: Open Game Thread on May 16 2013, 9:42p - 3 replies
That too. If there are stats that are inaccurate enough, then their use in analysis becomes useless and causes huge shifts in belief/outcome

Commented on 5/16: Open Game Thread on May 16 2013, 9:32p - 1 reply
