Just announced via his Twitter feed, DE Marquis Haynes has de-committed from UofL.

I just decommited from Louisville wasn't a good fit future tar heels

— quis haynes (@4Quis) August 5, 2012

Anyone still want to argue that the upcoming Big East downgrade isn't hurting recruiting? I don't think there's any doubt, given the comments by Jason Hatcher when he announce for USC, and after Charlie Strong hinted that it's coming up on the recruiting trail. You know other coaches are talking it up big-time. And it's working.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that when Smith's mom talked to UCF coach O'Leary, she said he wanted out so he could go to UofL: http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2011-03-29/sports/os-ucf-denies-damarcus-smith-release-20110329_1_damarcus-smith-ucf-coach-george-o-leary-freshman-jeff-godfrey

Assuming that's the case, this could work out well for us (the fans). If Teddy is all he's expected to be, he won't redshirt, which will put him at least one year ahead of Smith. This could end up being a situation where Teddy takes the reins and then hands it off to Smith, who will be polished and ready to lead the Cards to another NC (hey, dream big or go home!). It sucks for Smith, of course, but he made that bed and he must lie in it now. For us as fans, though, this might be a really nice set-up for the next few years.
