Northern Iowa gets ESPY for biggest upset.....
I don't know about you guys, but this still stings. I'm not a college football guy, or an NBA guy...so between the upcoming Chiefs season, and the British Open....KU bball is still what gets the majority of my attention.
If our basketball players felt half the rage that I did in having to see Northern Iowa get an ESPY for biggest upset....then we should be ready to crush some people come Non-Conf time.
I can just picture the Morri in the gym hitting the weights saying 'ain't no way that's happening this season.'
Something tells me that this year is going to be personal for everyone on the team last year. We're going to see a team with the killer instinct that we all feared last year's team was lacking, A team that will trade punches with you...knock you down...and step on your throat until its all over.
This team may not have the experience, or even quite the skill that last year's team had...but we should make up for it with just raw physical toughness and ability. We are going to be SCARY athletic. More athletic than the '08 Championship team.
If you couldn't tell...I'm ready. You?
Dear HCBS,
It is of the best interest to the team to avoid bringing a double team when someone is trying to post up Cole.
It would be one thing in a game where the opposing big men are talented, and capable of winning a 1v1 matchup versus Cole in the paint on a semi-frequent basis...but we've been doubling up on guys that average maybe 4 points a game and have very weak interior offensive skills.
Cole has proven time and again that he is capable of playing GREAT defense while not fouling. (unless you keep sending him to hedge 40 feet from the basket...please stop that as well...) Keeping the floor spread, instead of doubling should also help us rebound on the defensive glass and could translate into some fastbreak points going the other way.
Bringing help over has resulted in lots of open shots for the other team. We were fortunate against KSU and MU that they were unable to hit anything...and we all know they had their fair share of open looks. If we continue to do this into the postseason...sooner or later we're going to play someone that hits their shots and we'll be in trouble.
I'm all for defensive pressure...but if the ball is in the hands of a guy that only scores 4 a game...why are we doubling and forcing him to pass to others who are more potent offensively...?
Thanks,
Shucks....
I tuned into KSHB's evening news tonight just to see what kinda B.S. spin Jack Harry could come up with on today's game...wasn't there tonight. I normally don't watch their news, due to his propensity to get a boner anytime MU does anything remotely significant, but just couldn't pass up the opportunity. Is he still doing the sports for them?
I hoped to find something on KSHB's website, and this was all I found...way back from the 23rd though.
Actually a little out there. Even for Jack. I guess so many repeated years of disappointment can wear a man out...even one as 'gracious' as Jack.
