Freddy Garcia positive for banned substance (WBC)
ESPN just reported that Freddy Garcia tested positive for a banned substance, reportedly marijuana, during the WBC.
Garland re-signed, 'Beernitz' to replace Sosa
According to ESPN Wire, the White Sox finally bought into the Jon Garland hype and re signed him to a contract worth seven, ten and twelve million dollars through the two thousand and eight season. See him go back to his 4.48 ERA self next year. With all due respect, check Esteban Loaiza's season two years ago and there's your last season Garland; at least they didn't sign Loaiza to a long term deal back then.
Prospect Retrospective: Greg M.
John Sickels (http://www.minorleagueball.com) per request, made one of his famous prospect retrospectives about Greg.
A 'perfect' kind of night.
I always hear how beautiful pitching duels are.

Are we done with Korey?
Welcome to the AL, Jason.

Shoulder stiffness for Wood
I'm tired of his sissy attitude. He just gives up and takes himself out of the game.
Farnsworth's Big Break / Joe Borowski Update
Farnsworth: After Troy Percival went into the DL yesterday, the Detroit Tigers named Kyle their official closer, followed by the recall of Craig Dingman, their AAA closer who will take up Kyle's former setup job. Farnsworth, who's had a fantastic year in setup with a 1.95 ERA and 46 strikeouts, will have his big break to show he can handle being a MLB closer, something he's never been capable of demonstrating. He already earned his first save as the official closer, his second of the year in a 4 - 1 win over Kansas City.
Jermaine Van Buren / AAA All Star Game
The AAA All Star Game, facing the IL with the PCL, was actually a lot more interesting than the actual All Star Game. At least for me.
It's official: Joe Borowski signs with Devil Rays
I wish the best for ol' Joe. May he regain his confidence and stuff in Tropicana.
Mid Season / Favorite moments
So, we've finally reached mid season baseball, and with the lack of performances and news of this week, please list here your favorite moments of 2005, because, of course, there are. Don't forget to also list those that weren't actually favorable.
Piniella in blue?
When Devil Rays manager Lou Piniella expressed his displeasure at the situation in Tampa Bay recently, the assumption he was trying to get out of his contract, a move some thought could eventually land him with the Yankees. Now, Newsday says if Piniella does leave, he'll more likely end up either with the Cubs or back in Seattle with the Mariners.
Ryan Dempster as a closer.
In case you were wondering, since being turned into a closer, Ryan Dempster has excelled at that role.
Looking for a co-author (Blog.).
I'm working on an enhanced weblog, and I decided that I needed a co author to help me with the entries, as I master the art of CSS and image editing more than the handling of words and verbal expression.
The site is going to have its own domain, and various sections to go with the blog. If anyone's interested, please reply and I'll check back with you.
Mac?as hit a homerun
Off Prior, in the righthanded's simulated game yesterday.
A frightening thought
Neifi! has put up Carlos Beltr?n-type numbers, so far, this season. A frightening thought, eh? We have a shortstop who's putting the same numbers as an all star player, and the best thing is that Neifi! makes eleven million dollars less than Carlos. The statistics:
No, not Rueter!
Columnist Eric Gilmore just started a rumor involving last year contractee Kirk Rueter. It's just that, nothing more than a mention, but all trades start like this.
Helton willing to move to LF? Cubs intrigued
I was watching the Seattle game tonight, and during a commercial break, the baseball analyst for Latin America was going on and on about how Todd Helton was on the block, and that the Rockies were trying to move him right after the All Star Break, because their 1B prospect Ryan Shealy was destroying AAA ball (.318; 29 HR; 99 RBI last season; unknown statistics for this season.).
Jerry Hairston Kattan?
Have you noticed how much Jerry Hairston Jr looks like Chris Kattan, ex actor of SNL?
Corey, injured?
He's been taking a lot of off-days, lately.
