Nationals To Acquire Gio Gonzalez
"for right-handers A.J. Cole and Brad Peacock, left-hander Tom Milone and catcher Derek Norris, ESPN.com's Keith Law reports tweets."
Woo, not us!
Toronto Blue Jays Get It
Nice little blurb of a story about how the team still know what was important after last night's crushing defeat
MLB Attendance Comparison from 2010 to 2011
Toronto Blue Jays top the list with a huge 41.4% improvement over last year.
Wow.
Blue Jays Decline Aaron Hill's Options
Declined the 3 year 2012-14 option, but the 1 and 2 year options can still happen after this season.
Next round of I-hope-they-get-this-guy: Russel Branyan
And apparently we've been poaching a number of players that could fit the Rays, so why stop now?
Jays Pursuing Octavio Dotel?
Because what would we do if our closer didn't walk everyone?
#BlueJays offer arbitration to their four free agents: S. Downs, J. Frasor, K. Gregg + M. Olivo #Jays
Summarizing your 2010 Blue Jays in one photo (Plenty of pictures)
This should be simple but fun, summarize how you felt the season went for the various players (or even coaches/manger) of your 2010 Blue Jays with photos of said peoples. For example:
If you felt Kevin Gregg wasn't that great...
Cito: Cecil fell and cut right knee, needed 3 stitches. Cecil will start Saturday @ Angels.
Rzepczysnki will be promoted to start Friday @ Angels. Mills back to AAA Las Vegas after Thursday start vs. Red Sox.
Upcoming rotation: Romero (today) followed by Marcum, Mills, Rzep, Cecil, Romero, Marcum, Morrow...
No word if the cut is chicken related or not. But hey, Rzep's coming back!
Blue Jays pitcher Jesse Litsch was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Friday and is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair a labral tear in his right hip next week. Litsch is expected to miss four to six months following the operation.
The Blue Jays recalled left-hander Brad Mills from Triple-A Las Vegas to take Litsch's spot in the rotation.

VW in home run derby.
No Jedi, but we do get the Franchise Bandwagon.
Postgame moves: Rzepczynski recalled from AAA; Hoffpauir optioned to AAA; Encarnacion called up from AAA.
To clear room on 40-man roster for Edwin, Jays outrighted OF Jeremy Reed. He refused the assignment and is now a free agent.
Toronto Meet Ups Reminder
Since Tom is old and forgets things, he forgot to put this up in the fanposts for all to see.
Looks like we are going to have a couple of times we can meet in Toronto.
First, after the game Tuesday we are going to go over to C'est What? for a beer or two and if anyone can join us, that would be great.
Then on Wednesday at lunch some of us will be meeting at the Watermark in Harbourfront Centre at York and Queens Quay at noon.
If you want to go, let us know and we'll count you in. Dexfarkin volunteered to make the reservation. It will be nice to put some faces to the names we talk to most days.
We will move this over to the Fanposts in the next day or two so it doesn't just fall of the front page, never to be seen again.
Yes, that's tonight and tomorrow.
I'm not sure if C'est What is the type of place to have the ballgame on TV, so if people want to meet up somewhere to watch the game and have some drinks, and then move over to C'est What after to meet up with people from the game, that's always possible.
Ah the rain.
3B EDWIN ENCARNACION has been designated for assignment. SCOTT RICHMOND has been reinstated from the 60-day DL and optioned to Dunedin(A).
Blue Jays option 3B Edwin Encarnacion to AAA Las Vegas after today's game. No word yet on callup. Anthopoulos said 3B from Vegas (Emaus?).
Blue Jays have recalled INF Jarrett Hoffpauir from AAA Las Vegas - .332 with 9 HR and 43 RBIs in 56 games.
Road Trip!!! - Report Card
This is a follow-up to this post that I wrote before this road trip, and people seemed to like it, so I decided a little follow up wouldn't hurt.
Basically in that post, I was comparing the previous year's massive road trip (of DOOM) at that point in the season to the current one (of HOPE), which happened to fall more or less in the same slot.
Well things may not have gone as well as they possibly could have, but in the end, we did pretty good. Really.

Road Trip!!!
If this hot start of your Toronto Blue Jays seems familiar, that's because we did the same thing last year. At this time a year ago, we were 27-14 and in first place in the AL East after a sweep of the Chicago White Sox at home and left for a 9 road trip through Boston, Atlanta and Baltimore. We lost all 9 games. If you look back at the season, that road trip set the tone for the rest of the season, where we struggled our way down to 4th in a mess of disappointment after an amazing start.
Flash forward to this year, and we find ourselves at 24-17 and third in our lovely home of the AL East. And just like last year, we're off for a long road trip, 8 games through the AL and NL West, facing Seattle, Arizona and the LA Angels. Let's take a look to see just how important this trip is. (Spoiler: It's very important)

A's Braden throws perfect game against the... Rays.
A-Rod knows who Braden is now. Rays are so weak to the perfect game. Obviously that's how we have to beat them.
BTB on Kevin Gregg being awesome
In case anyone needed proof to jump onto the Gregg bandwagon.
Hill on DL, Reed called up
DL is retroactive til April 6th.
Sadface.
Hechavarria to be in Dunedin by week's end
So the visa is finally obtained, unless there's something terrible with his physical, looks like he's finally going to be officially announced soon.
We're down to 25 at last
The anticpated cuts for today were made and everything set, meaning how Tallet performs today doesn't affect his standing. Among the news, Tallet starts as the #2 starter, Eveland is the #5 and Cecil is sent down. Valdez and Accardo are happy happy guys right now though.
Jeremy Accardo Interview - Wants to close
I found the interview interesting after how he was treated last year, and even though he says otherwise, it sounds like he really wants off the team for a chance to play regularly or even close. Show him off to the Twins/Cubs?
Shaun Marcum named Opening Day starter
In other shocking news, Darth Vader is Luke's father.
Casey Fien claimed off waivers from Red Sox. Richmond put on 60-Day DL.
I guess Richmond is still bothered his injury from last season?
Single game ticket prices to increase in 2010?
Granted that it hasn't been set in stone that they'll increase the prices of single game tickets, it has been reported that they have increased the price on a few season ticket holders, stripped all the season ticket holders of some perks and Jason Diplock, the Blue Jays vice-president of ticket sales and service, has mentioned that “we’d like to freeze the prices.” and “there may be some scenarios where a particular seat might be a little more expensive.
“But again we don’t know for sure.”
After a disappointing 2009 and with 2010 being nearly bronzed as a throw-away year to re-build build for the future, I think freezing ticket prices is the minimum they should do, and if there should be any changes, they should be lowered. Any idea of raising prices should be nixed. I'm not really sure how any of this can do anything but drive even more fans away from the Dome Centre. Rogers seems to be very willing to fund the team for whatever amount the club says they need. So why not tap Rogers for more money so that ticket prices could be lowered. "Yeah, we're re-building building the team, and we're probably not going to win anytime soon, but at least you can watch some baseball cheap."
I went for a handful of games last season with my brother and it got a little expensive after food and getting down there. I would love to go to even more games next season, but I may not go to any if the price increases in this tough economy.
Cito back in 2010
This story just broke on Prime Time Sports and on Sportsnet. Cito Gaston will manage the 2010 season and then retire into a 4-year consultant position with the Blue Jays in 2011. Also annouced was that Gene Tenace and Brad Arnsberg were leaving the team. Tenance is retiring and Arnsberg signed on with the Houston Astros as their new pitching coach.
According to the Sportsnet news story, "Gaston's staff in 2010 will consist of third base coach Brian Butterfield, bench coach Nick Leyva, hitting coach Dwayne Murphy, pitching coach Bruce Walton, bullpen coach Rick Langord and first base coach Omar Malave are all returning next year."
Finally a decision about the future of the Blue Jays, although probably not the one that most wanted. It does seem like they're resigned to give up on 2010 already and try to do something for 2011. Suddenly it seems like the budget will shrink, partly from the top and partly from the soon-to-be-common 10,000 attendances at the games.
