KC'S NEW OFFENSE

Chad Gailey has taken over the offensive reigns in Kansas City and here is what Pro Bowl tight end, Tony Gonzalez had to say:

"I guess I’m kind of struggling," tight end Tony Gonzalez said. "They’re bringing me along. So when they say, ‘Break,’ I’ll go up to Brodie (Croyle) and be like, ‘OK, what do I got here?’ He’ll tell me. Then you go play football from there."

Gonzalez is a smart player and for him to not have instant understanding of the offense would make me a little worried if I worked in KC. If Tony does not understand what he is doing then I can promise you there are several other offensive players with the same concerns.

The key for the Chiefs and their offense will be the play of the offensive line and most of all the play of quarterback Brodie Croyle. Herman Edwards the Chiefs head coach and Carl Peterson, the General Manager have much riding on the ability of Croyle to lead the offense. Croyle is similar to Kellen Clements of the Jets, frail type players, that may not have the bodies to hold up to the contact and physical pounding each week in the NFL. Croyle will surprise me if he has the skills to be a consistent starter in the NFL. From playing the Chiefs twice last year while I was with Denver, Croyle looked like a back up player.

The Chiefs offense will be a work in progress in terms of the talent on the field and based on Gonzalez, they will be one in the class room.
