Cecil Harris covered the New York Yankees for Gannett Newspapers from 1994-98, earning awards for his reportage. He is the author of Call the Yankees My Daddy: Reflections on Baseball, Race and Family (Lyons Press); Charging the Net: A History of Blacks in Tennis from Althea Gibson and Arthur Ashe to the Williams Sisters (Ivan R. Dee); and Breaking the Ice: The Black Experience in Professional Hockey (Insomniac Press).
Cecil has written on sports for newspapers, magazines, Web sites, blogs and various organizations. He also taught sports marketing and management at Concordia College.
